    Stable Οƒh-adducts in the reactions of the acridinium cation with heterocyclic N-nucleophiles

    A reaction of NH-heterocycles with the 10-methylacridinium cation in the presence of a base led to 9,10-dihydro-10-methyl-9-substituted acridines, which can be considered as stable intermediates in the aromatic nucleophilic substitution reaction of hydrogen. The structure of the intermediates was studied and their oxidation potentials were determined.     Structural and functional indicators of the heart of patients with ischemic heart disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Rhythmoinotropic response isolated myocardium at different levels of glycated hemoglobin

    BACKGROUND: Adequate glycemic control can significantly reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular events. However, until now, glycaemic targets in aged patients remain a subject of discussion, especially in the conditions of the combined development of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and ischemic heart disease (IHD).AIMS: To examine the structural and functional heart parameters in patients with IHD associated with T2DM and the rhythmoinotropic responses of their isolated myocardium depending on glycated hemoglobin level.MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 44 patients with a diagnosis of "chronic IHD associated with T2DM", of which 2 groups were formed. Patients with glycated hemoglobin level (HbA1c) <8% were included in the 1st group, and patients with HbA1c β‰₯8% were included in the 2nd group. The structural and functional heart parameters obtained with ultrasonography, and the rhythmoinotropic responses of myocardium in patients ex vivo were analyzed using the right atrial appendage fragments obtained during elective coronary artery bypass graft. The inotropic response of muscle strips at a basic stimulation frequency of 0,5 Hz to testing influences was assessed. An extrasystolic test and post-rest test were performed.RESULTS: It was found that extrasystolic contractions of isolated myocardial strips in patients of the 2nd group appeared at shorter extrasystolic intervals, which indicates a greater excitability of the myocardium in patients of this group. Postextrasystolic muscle contractions in patients of the 2nd group had significant potentiation. The amplitude of the muscle strips contractions in patients of both groups was potentiative after short rest periods. However, with an increase in the rest duration, potentiation of contractions was observed only in the group with a higher HbA1c level. According to the ultrasonography data, it was found that the values of the endsystolic and diastolic volumes, the interventricular septum thickness and the left ventricular (LV) myocardium mass were significantly lower in the patients of the 1st group compared with the corresponding indicators in the patients of the 2nd group. The early LV filling velocity (peak E) was significantly lower in the patients of the 1st group, which indicates a slower LV relaxation. At the same time, the rapid LV filling velocity did not have a significant intergroup difference, but this indicator exceeded the reference values in both groups.CONCLUSIONS: With a moderately increased glycemic level (9,2 [8,0; 10,3]%), the structural and functional heart parameters are preserved both at the level of the isolated myocardial tissue and at the level of the whole heart

    Electron Transfer and Unusual Chemical Transformations of F4-TCNQ in a Reaction with Mn-Phthalocyanine

KGaA, Weinheim The interaction of manganese phthalocyanine with F4-TCNQ is accompanied by the transformation of the acceptor molecule into a new organic ligand, the 4-(dicyanomethanido)tetra-fluorobenzoate dianion, resulting in the formation of a unique MnIII charge-transfer complex, in which two Mn phthalocyanine moieties are bridged by the dianion, with parallel arrangement of all aromatic fragments and an interplanar distance of 3.30 Γ…. The formation of the complex takes place in a 2:1 ratio, with the two electrons transferring from two donor molecules to an acceptor molecule. Magnetic measurements reveal that MnIII ions in the studied complex occur in the high-spin state S = 2 and are coupled antiferromagnetically, presumably by the superexchange mechanism through the 4-(dicyanomethanido)tetrafluorobenzoate dianion bridge, with an interaction constant of J = 5 cm–1 (7 K). According to the electrochemical data, the new complex appears to have unusual redox properties and might be described as an electronic reservoir with strong acceptor ability, being able to take seven electrons. Notably, all of the reduction–oxidation steps are reversible, proceeding without structural changes

    Em seis experimentos de campo, semeados em outubro, novembro e dezembro de 1978 e 1979, foram estudados os efeitos da brusone (Pyricularia oryzae Cav.) e de temperatura baixas (frio) sobre a produção das cultivares de arroz (Oryza sativa L.) Bluebelle, EEA 406, IRGA 408, Dawn e Caloro. Os resultados permitiram concluir que a época de semeadura influi na produtividade do arroz e que a produção das épocas tardias (dezembro) é mais prejudicada pelos danos da brusone e do frio, simultaneamente. Determinou-se, também, que as cultivares estudadas apresentam comportamentos diversos quanto à sua sensibilidade a esses fatores, e que a semeadura em épocas precoces - outubro e novembro - oferece à cultura maiores possibilidades de escapar desses danos. A brusone foi mais danosa sobre as cultivares Caloro e EEA 406, enquanto que o frio prejudicou mais a produção de IRGA 408 e Dawn. A cultivar Bluebelle, de ciclo precoce, sofreu os efeitos de ambos os fatores de maneira mais suave e apresentou maiores chances de escape. Não foram obtidas correlaçáes satisfatórias entre os danos da brusone e as condiçáes meteorológicas.At six field experiments, seeded in October, November and December of 1978 and 1979, the rice blast disease (Pyricularia oryzae Cav.) and low temperature effects on the grain yield of the rice cultivars Bluebelle, EEA 406, IRGA 408, Dawn, and Caloro, were studied. The results showed that seeding time had effect on rice yield, and in the later seeding times, in December the yield was reduced simultaneously by the rice blast disease and cold. It was also determinated that the rice cultivars show differences on susceptibility to these factors, and that the early seeding, at October and November, gives the cultivation more chances for the rice crop lo escape from both blast and cold damages. The rice blast disease attack was more severe on the rice cultivars Caloro and EEA 406. On the other hand, the low temperatures injured more the rice cultivars IRGA 408 and Dawn. The Bluebelle, a short growth duration variety has more chances lo escape from these losses. No satisfactory correlation was obtained between the rice blast disease losses and the metheorological conditions

All complexes are effective electrocatalysts for hydrogen production using [(DMF)H]+ as proton source in acetonitrile. The bulky benzhydryl substituent at nitrogen atom leads to higher catalytic activity comparison to benzyl. The introduction o-Py substituents at phosphorus as additional basic center is caused by the changing of voltage-current picture and significantly catalytic current enhancement. TOFs being 100 and 15200 s-1 for R = Ph and o-Py, respectively

    Retrospective analysis and current state of the improving qualification of pharmacists on quality questions of medicines in Shupyk NMAPE

    To date, one of the advanced educational and research centers of Kiev and Ukraine, which is the improving qualification of pharmacists on quality questions of medicines, is the Department of Quality Control and Standardization of Medicines of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Education (NMAPE). The aim of the work is to analyze the historical stages of formation and development of the Department of Quality Control and Standardization of Medicines of Shupyk NMAPE. The materials of the research are: archival and current documentation of the department, scientific publications, encyclopedic reference materials. Studies were conducted using methods: content analysis, historical documentary, generalization and systematization of historical data. In this work a retrospective analysis was performed and current state of activity of the Department of Quality Control and Standardization of Medicines of Shupyk NMAPE was considered. The basic stages of formation and historical development of the department during 1938 to 2018 are determined. The contribution to the development of pharmaceutical education and science of professors (prof. Ya.A. Fialkov, N.P. Maksyutina, O.M Gritsenko, N.O. Vetiutneva, etc.) was noted. The educational cycles, taught at the department, are shown, namely: specialization cycles, internships, pre-certification training in the specialties Β«Analytical Control PharmacyΒ», Β«General PharmacyΒ»; thematic improvement cycles on topical issues of pharmacy, quality assurance and prevention of falsification of medicines, functioning of quality systems of pharmacies (for pharmacists); cycles of improvement of assistant pharmacists; thematic improvement cycles on the scientific basis of phytotherapy and the use of modern medicines based on active ingredients of natural origin (for physicians). The basis of educational-methodical and scientific production of the department is described. The main areas of the scientific activity of the department are described, covering the following areas: development of methods for the investigation of complex synthetic compounds, methods for express analysis of extemporal multicomponent medicines, methods for quality control the of phytotherapeutic and homeopathic medicines; study of the composition and intermolecular interaction of biologically active compounds in plants and phytopreparations; synthesis and creation of new medicines and dietary supplements; study of the properties of crown compounds; study of the interaction of auxiliary substances with active ingredients; research on increasing the solubility of difficult soluble substances; substantiation of methodological and organizational-methodical principles of quality assurance of medicines at stages of wholesale, retail sale and medical use, etc. Analysis of the activities of the Department of Quality Control and Standardization of Medicines of Shupyk NMAPE during 1938 to 2018 testifies to its significant contribution and great potential for the development of pharmaceutical science and practice, in particular in the direction of the creation, standardization, assurance and control of quality of medicines and dietary supplements

    Surface decoration of silica nanoparticles by Pd(0) deposition for catalytic application in aqueous solutions

    Β© 2015 Elsevier B.V.. The work introduces chemical and electrochemical synthetic routes to obtain Pd(0) nanoparticles (PdNPs) deposited onto silica supports in aqueous media. The former route is performed through reduction of Na2[PdCl4] by ascorbic acid in the presence of amino-modified silica nanoparticles (SiO2-NH2). The time-dependent variation of pH and the reductant concentration is the simple synthetic route to get uniform deposition of 215nm sized silica supports by Pd(0) nanoparticles (3-10nm). The methylviologen-mediated electrochemical synthetic route results in small PdNPs (3-9nm) located both onto and beyond the silica supports. Thus, the chemical synthetic route provides more homogeneous Pd(0)-SiO2-NH2 aqueous colloids. The results reveal that attractive interactions of amino/ammonium groups of SiO2-NH2 with both [PdCl4]2- and ascorbate-stabilized Pd(0) seeds are the key reasons for the better Pd(0)-deposition onto silica supports. The chemically deposited Pd(0)-SiO2-NH2 nanoparticles catalyze the chemiluminescence of luminol resulted from the H2O2-facilitated oxidation in alkaline aqueous solutions

    The purpose of the study: to determine the development of vaccination against infections associated with contingents in an epidemic crisis.Materials and methods: the method of a sociological survey of future workers and those vaccinated in different epidemic status periods was used: 2019 – the pre-pandemic period and 2020 – the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. A sociological survey was conducted in 2019 among 212 medical workers (130 doctors and 82 nurses) and among 229 medical workers in 2020 (143 doctors and 86 nurses). Parents were also interviewed using a questionnaire. 100 and 50 respondents took part in the survey, respectively.Results: a large number of pregnant workers – 74.3-88.1% are positive about vaccination. However, 6.8% of therapists and 9.6% of nurses of adult health facilities express a wary attitude, there were no negative reactions, unlike in 2019, when the severity of 2.2% of general practitioners and 4.2% of nurses of adult health facilities was negative. The largest number of respondents of all groups among the reasons for refusing to vaccinate is called β€œinformation that vaccinations are dangerous” from 76.6% to 88.9% in 20219, from 74.1% to 93.2% in 2020.     A case of whooping cough in a moderate form in a child of the first month of life is described in the presented clinical observation. The moderate form was manifested by the duration of the preconvulsive period up to 5 days, the appearance of cyanosis of the face when coughing in the early stages of the disease (1 week), an increase in the number of coughing attacks. The difficulties of treating pertussis in young children are demonstrated by our observation of the course of the disease. There is no vaccination against pertussis in children in the family due to the refusal of parents and children with prolonged coughing were not examined at the outpatient stage. As a result, chemoprophylaxis was not performed on time and the newborn was discharged from the hospital to the center of pertussis infection.     Silica Nanospheres Coated by Ultrasmall Ag<sup>0</sup>Nanoparticles for Oxidative Catalytic Application

The present work introduces optimal modifiсation of core-shell composite nanomaterial, where small (2–8 nm) Ag 0 nanoparticles are deposited onto large (about 140 nm) silica spheres for application in oxidative catalysis. The size of Ag 0 and density of its deposition onto silica spheres was modified by the post treatment of initially deposited Ag 0 (about 30 nm) by hydrogen peroxide in specific conditions. The comparison of catalytic effect of the post-treated and initial SN-Ag 0 in electrochemical phosphonation of benzo(thia)oxazoles by diethyl phosphite in oxidative conditions revealed the difference between the composite nanoparticles. In particular, the post-treated SNs-Ag 0 nanoparticles exhibit efficient catalytic effect in oxidative conditions resulting in facile and green method for synthesis of phosphonated benzooxa(thia)zoles, while no catalytic effect is observed under the use of larger Ag 0 nanoparticles deposited onto silica spheres.
