HEALTHCARE LANGUAGE PROGRAM (HELP) TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ ENGLISH PROFICIENCY FOR NURSING ACADEMY TOWARD ASEAN COMMUNITY

This research aims to convey the development of English proficiency toward Asean community through Healthcare Language Program (HELP) for Nursing Students. The demand of Asean Community is the use of English, as the language of Asean Community. English become a tool for communicating and connecting with other people around Asean Countries. In the Asean community, there will be more developments in Indonesia. Starting from free trade, foreign companies, and also healthcare sector. Not only the case of trade in goods and services, but also in the traffic of people in the context of labor. As an international language, English is required to interact with the global community, especially in the face of the ASEAN Economic Community. In addition, the role of English is also used in writing article for international journal publication. In other case, English can be very helpful in term of searching source of science about nursing which mostly come from international journal. So, nursing students should be able to master English well. In fact most of them encounter problem with English especially concerning with speaking and writing. Those skills are very important for nusring students to face Asean community. They need some activity and program to enhance English proficiency. This study is an investigation of the English program held by STikes Mahardika Cirebon. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. Meanwhile, the data is collected by using observation, interview, as well as documentation. Developing English Supplementary Materials through Instructional Conversations

This study aimed to develop English supplementary materials to meet the needs of nursing students on English learning through Instructional Conversation (IC) method. This research was categorized into research and development. The materials were validated by two experts to come to the final product. This research conducted at the Nursing Study Program involving students of the second semester. The data collected from classroom and checklist observation, questionnaire, an interview.  Considering the data collected, the English textbooks available and used in the Nursing Study Program contains English language learning materials that are still common and less specific for students used in the nursing study program. PROMOTING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SPONTANEOUS THROUGH ENGLISH SURVIVAL ACTIVITY: A CASE STUDY ON STUDENTS OF AGRICULTURE

English lecturers frequently worry about encouraging students to use English in spontaneous conversation, mainly English, for specified purposes. The study details classroom activities that encourage students to talk spontaneously in Agriculture. An early stage of group preparation is required to instil confidence in students to speak English freely in class. Students are responsible for identifying themes and laying the framework for class discussions. Cultivation, food production, and cattle business are suggested materials for various class activities. STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVE ON THE DEMAND OF ENGLISH IN FACING ASEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY (AEC)

The demand of Asean Community is the use of English, as the language of Asean Community. English become a tool for communicating and connecting with other people around Asean Countries. This paper analyses the result of survey on the student of English Department of Majalengka University. This survey focused on their perspective on the demand of English in facing Asean Economic Community (AEC). The aims of this study are to reveal (1) What should students prepare to face Asean Economic Community (AEC)?; (2) what are students’ perspective on the demand of English in facing AEC?. This study is an investigation of the students’ perspective on the demand of english in facing AEC. This study uses descriptive qualitative method. Meanwhile, the data is collected by using observation, interview, as well as documentation. IMPLEMENTING QUIZZIZ AS GAME BASED LEARNING IN TEACHING GRAMMAR IN WRITTEN DISCOURSE

Quizizz is an online assessment tool as a fun multiplayer classroom activity that allows all students to practice together with their computer, Smartphone and I Pad. The main purpose of this research was to find the effect of implemening quizziz in the discourse classroom of Universitas Majalengka. The population of this research were semester four studens of English department, and the samples were 22 students. This research belongs to pre-experimental research and one group pre and pos test design. It described about a study that cast about the effect of giving treatment of using quizziz in single group only.A pre-experimental research was conducted by comparing the means of the participants’ scores in both pre-test and post-test. The analysis figured out that there was a significant improvement, proven by the paired t-test analysis.The p-value 0.00 was less than alpha 0.05. This research concluded that quizziz was effective to assist the students to learn grammar in written discouse.After implementing quizziz, most of studentsfound that were very active to answer the questions which provided by researches, and more concentrated on the topic. And the results of the questioners shows that the students displayed the position attitude for quizizz as a online teaching and assessment tool during the Grammar in Written Discourse class

Project – Based Learning: Facilitating the Development of Students’ Critical Thinking in English Essay Writing

This study aimed to investigate how the project – based learning was implemented to facilitate the development of students’ critical thinking skills in English essay writing in higher education context. An exploratory case study research design was used in this study while the participants were one lecturer and 15 students. The data were gleaned from classroom observations, interview, and documents. The data analysis results that teaching English essay writing in which project- based learning was implemented covers three stages including preparation, implementation, and presentation. The other result from data analysis shows that the students can write essay cohesively and coherently in which this results indicates students’ critical thinking skills.  The results lead to the conclusion that all of the students had chance to be actively involved during the project and in teaching and learning prosess. It indicates that project – based learning apparently could facilitate the development of students’ critical thinking in English essay writing

SOSIALISASI PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS BERBASIS MULTILITERACIES PADA SANTRI PONDOK RAUDLATUL MUBTADI’IN CISAMBENG

Pembejaran abad ke 21 harus memliki konsep multiliteracies yang mencakup pemahaman informasi bersifat komprehensif dan factual. Dalam kegiatan sosialisasi ini, ada keteribatan para santri dari jenjang sekolah dasar, menengah, dan perguruan tinggi di lingkungan Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Mubtadi’in yang diberikan pemaparan terkait penggunaan platform dan media pembelajaran dalam matapelajaran bahasa Inggris. Hasil kegiatan sosialisasi ini adalah para santri nampak sangat bersemangat dalam mengikuti pengerjaan soal-soal bahasa Inggris secara dalam jaringan dengan menggunakan laptop atau ponsel-ponsel yang dimiliki oleh santri. Dan juga para santri mampu mengoperasikan atau menggunakan media ataupun platform pembejaran dalam jarring secara baik dan komprehensif. Sebagai contoh santri dapat membedakan berita factual dan berita Hoax yang mana itu mengindikasikan bahwa santri dapat memahami informasi dengan bijak dan sesuai fakta. Konsep multiliterasi dapat diimplementasikan dalam bentuk pengintegrasian peran digital teknologi dengan materi yang terkait dan berkontribusi pada peningkatan wawasan baru dalam pemanafaatan sosial media dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris atau bisa dikatakan mahasiswa diarahkan menjadi pribadi yang multiliterate yang mana mahasiswa mampu menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang bernuansa multiliterasi pada abad ke 21 ini

EXPLORING THE EMOTIONAL GEOGRAPHIES OF TEAM TEACHING LECTURER IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Emotions undoubtedly surface, which teachers face while resulting from the session. It is consistent with Hargreaves' view that teaching, learning, and leadership have an irrevocably emotional nature, whether on purpose or accidentally. The study seeks to evaluate an English teacher's experiences. According to Webster and Mertova (2007), narrative inquiry is based on human tales, which give a framework for investigating how people experience the world through their stories. Webster and Mertova state that narrative inquiry is a subfield of narrative research. The inquiry aimed to examine the emotional geography of team teaching lecturers in the English Language Education Department. A 33-year-old male English lecturer at a private University in Majalengka enhanced his professionalism by participating in several international and national conferences, which reflected the aspects of social and emotional well-being, such as presenting his article and having some discussions with other scholars. During the team teaching, the participants were given the opportunity and trust to do every single activity from the beginning to the end. His teaching partner treated him very well in implementing various programs within the team teaching. In brief, the emotional geographies contribute to developing a lecturer’s professional and cognitive aspects, which have been implemented during the instructional process. They also influence the way students learn and follow the lecturer’s instructions and potentially shape them to have a good attitude when interacting with each other

KAMPUNG LITERASI DALAM UPAYA MENINGKATKAN MINAT BACA DI TAMAN BACA MASYARAKAT (TBM) NURUL HUDA SINDANGHAJI PALASAH MAJALENGKA

Desa Sindanghaji terletak di kabupaten Majalengka dengan kualitas sumber daya manusia yang masih menjadi perhatian kepada Masyarakat yang berupaya untuk meningkatkan motivasi pendidikan melalui membaca. Kampung Literasi merupakan kawasan kampung yang digunakan untuk mewujudkan masyarakat yang memiliki pengetahuan dan pemahaman yang luas. Kegiatan pengembangan Kampung Literasi di Desa Sindanghaji Kabupaten Majalengka melakukan serangkaian sosialisasi dan pengembangan 6 literasi dasar bagi masyarakat umum dengan mengambangkan pusat belajar dan taman baca masyarakat. Upaya penting yang dilakukan sebagai langkah awal untuk membangun Kampung Literasi di Desa Sindanghaji secara fisik adalah membangun pojok baca disetiap dusun untuk mendekatkan bahan bacaan kepada masyarakat. Tulisan ini akan menggambarkan tentang usaha yang dilakukan dalam membangun Kampung Literasi tersebut. Dalam kegiatan ini, masyarakat diberikan sosialisasi tentang Kampung Literasi dalam meningkatkan minat baca masyarakat di Taman Baca Masyarakat Nurul Huda Desa Sindanghaji Kecamatan Palasah Majalengka. Metode pelaksanaan program ini menggunakan pendekatan diskusi dan pelatihan secara luring dengan memperhatikan protokol kesehatan. Dengan program ini, diharapkan dengan kegiatan ini kampung literasi memiliki motivasi berpendidikan tinggi dan memiliki akses kepada buku dan sumber pengetahuan lainnya untuk mewujudkan masyarakat yang memiliki minat dan budaya baca
