The offence of driving while impaired by alcohol is a problem that creates a huge social alarm and has been object of many investigations but, normally, the relating study is only made with statistic research. In another level of analyses, the present study of the phenomena, with a phenomenological perspective, gives voice to the social actors of that behaviour and seeks to reveal essential data about the deviant pathways of those individuals.By adopting the life story as methodological instrument, with the realization of qualitative interviews has been possible to identify the existence of three deviant trajectories which can reach different stages. The first trajectory has been named regular consumption and includes a group of research participants socially well integrated who drink small quantities of alcohol on a daily basis. The second trajectory, of intermittent consumption, includes the occasional drinkers younger individuals with an instable familiar context , who swallow alcohol for their entertainment and pleasure. At last, the trajectory of secondary consumption is connected with the life course of the individual's primary identified and labelled as «delinquents», because they also commit other different crimes, beside driving while intoxicated
VEGETATIVE GROWTH AND EARLY PRODUCTION OF SIX OLIVE CULTIVARS, IN SOUTHERN ATACAMA DESERT, CHILE
Tree survival, early fruit production, vegetative growth and alternate bearing were examined in six different olive cultivars (Barnea, Biancolilla, Coratina, Empeltre, Koroneiki and Leccino) under intensive agronomic conditions i southern Atacama Desert, in the Coquimbo Region of Chile. The cultivars were evaluated over four successive years and had a high survival rate (93%) confi rming their potential for these dry-lands. Fruit production (recorded over the growing seasons 2002-2003), vegetative growth (2000-2003) and alternate bearing differed signifi cantly among cultivars. Olive selection in intensively managed planting at the southern part of the Atacama Desert depends on matching specifi c cultivars to sites on which they perform the best
From an analysis of the narratological panorama of the narrators in Literature and Cinema, this thesis intends to promote an investigation of the possibilities and limitations of the theory of the cinematographic meganarrator, postulated by André Gaudreault. This course of reading established a reflection on the concepts of mimesis and diegesis, as well as the notions of persona and character, narrator and author, suspension of disbelief and fictional agreement, within the process of translation/adaptation of the semiotic system of Literature for Cinema. In order to illustrate these aspects, this dissertation focuses on a closer examination of the literary (written by Michael Dobbs) and television (directed by David Fincher) versions of House of Cards. Through a comparative analysis, it was intended to understand the process of fourth wall‘s break insertion in the audiovisual version as an interpretation and translation of the Francis direct discourses, present at the beginning of the chapters of the three literary works that compose the House of Cards literary trilogy. In the construction of the figure of the meganarrator, it is possible to observe the fact that the cinematographic theory do not separate both author from narrator in concern of separation of the film functions between two distinct entities, the film monstrator and the film narrator. This separation is necessary because, from this conception, there is no space for the insertion of external diegetic agents that modify the way the narrative itself is constructed, as it happens with the actors. In addition, other intradiegetical figures are also placed in secondary narrative degrees because there is no independence of the text in relation to the author to which they are subordinated, promoting a barrier between the work of fiction and its internal agents, in behalf of the author's omnipotence. Through the deconstruction of authorship in cinema, using the propositions of authors such as Barthes (the death of the author) and Genette (transtextuality), it was intended to demonstrate the need to dilute this notion among other agents involved in the cinematographic creation process

Hybrid sediment transport model for the “linguado” channel, state of Santa Catarina, Brazil
This study involves an assessment of various artificial intelligence-related techniques which aim to produce a more robust system for sediment transport modeling. The intelligent systems developed in this research are directly applicable to academic knowledge and use data from a report on "water circulation assessment in the “Linguado” Channel and Babitonga Bay ,”Santa Catarina”, Brazil, developed by Military Engineering Institute (IME). The solution employed for sediment transport was built using an intelligent system from the conception of two hybrid models. The first was a Neuro-Fuzzy (ANFIS) hybrid model for the study of hydrodynamic behavior, aiming to determine flow rate in the channel. The second was a fuzzy genetic model, able to assess sediment transport in the “Linguado” Channel. The study's conclusion compares the different effects involved in the dredging equilibrium in the “Linguado” Channel according to this hybrid model with the results obtained using a finite element model in the MIKE21® software

A Fuzzy Algorithm for understanding the customer's desire. An application designed for textile industry.
The paper aims at showing how a textile industry can select from a mix of products, the best products to be produced by using the customer’s point of view. The Fuzzy Algorithm for fashion industry is a tool developed to optimise the production and reduce losses and storage costs in the textile industry environment. As the textile industry has an expressive position as an employment intensive industry around the world, its health can be perceived by the ability of their managers in restricting the production to low costs limits, thus acquiring better sales and value to the products. The supply chain management must apply innovations and tools that can deal with these paradigms with dexterity. In a global source operation, the information that one product will be very well accepted by a group of customers with a given price is very welcome. In a sustainability scenario, the algorithm can promote savings in many factors such as: labour, electric energy, water and many other resources spent by the textile industries that have significant impact in economy and environment. Finally, this paper shows a different view to understand the customer's desire through linguistic variable processed in a Fuzzy Logic algorithm. The tool yields an index to the product and find out in a mix of products, which of them will be better accepted by the final customer. Keywords: Fuzzy Logic, Textile Industry, Production Optimization
Aplicação do Modelo de Black, Derman & Toy à Precificação de Opções Sobre Títulos de Renda Fixa
This paper presents an application of the model of Black, Derman & Toy related to the pricing of options of fixed income assets. The model is a non-stationary one, where the mean reversion or volatility reversion or both are functions of time. The model makes it possible to calculate the price of non-arbitrage derivative contracts of the term structure of interest rates. The fundamental hypothesis is that the interest rate follows a lognormal random walk. It uses a binomial tree to simulate the stochastic process in study. This tree is created in a way to be consistent with the initial interest rate curve observed by the market. The results obtained were consistent, however as this kind of option does not exist in Brazil, we could not compare the results of our tests with the market prices of the contracts.
