Semput is a fiction short film made by a crew of five people, Mel de Romer. This format allows a more expressive freedom without having a high economic cost. This audiovisual project is the materialization of the work made during months: from an idea to its shooting and post-production. So, the team has organized according to the experiences and preferences of every member, creating a good job background.
With this production it has attempted to experiment from the formal point of view, because the intention was not to keep the standards established in black cinema or suspense productions, as is this short film. So, long open shots are the most common resources, using as less as possible (only when necessary) close ups.
During the whole working process, the team has been constantly learning. It has tried to work in the most professional way. The organization and constant communication between the members of the team have been crucial. Moreover, this work also made possible to confront problems or common obstacles in a professional production, which have been solved as best as possible. In other words, the team faced real life, outside the walls of the University, understanding better the realization work of an audiovisual product, from beginning to end. Of course, the habilities and knowledge acquired in the classes has been put into practice. With this short film is expected to be able to demonstrate all the practical knowledge in this matter to thereby bridge to other audiovisual projects or set foot into the working world

Real-Life Use of Ceftolozane/Tazobactam for the Treatment of Bloodstream Infection Due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Neutropenic Hematologic Patients: a Matched Control Study (ZENITH Study)
Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Bacteremia; NeutropeniaPseudomonas aeruginosa; Bacteriemia; NeutropeniaPseudomonas aeruginosa; Bacterièmia; NeutropèniaWe sought to assess the characteristics and outcomes of neutropenic hematologic patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) bloodstream infection (BSI) treated with ceftolozane-tazobactam (C/T). We conducted a multicenter, international, matched-cohort study of PA BSI episodes in neutropenic hematologic patients who received C/T. Controls were patients with PA BSI treated with other antibiotics. Risk factors for overall 7-day and 30-day case fatality rates were analyzed. We compared 44 cases with 88 controls. Overall, 91% of episodes were caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains. An endogenous source was the most frequent BSI origin (35.6%), followed by pneumonia (25.8%). There were no significant differences in patient characteristics between groups. C/T was given empirically in 11 patients and as definitive therapy in 41 patients. Treatment with C/T was associated with less need for mechanical ventilation (13.6% versus 33.3%; P = 0.021) and reduced 7-day (6.8% versus 34.1%; P = 0.001) and 30-day (22.7% versus 48.9%; P = 0.005) mortality. In the multivariate analysis, pneumonia, profound neutropenia, and persistent BSI were independent risk factors for 30-day mortality, whereas lower mortality was found among patients treated with C/T (adjusted OR [aOR] of 0.19; confidence interval [CI] 95% of 0.07 to 0.55; P = 0.002). Therapy with C/T was associated with less need for mechanical ventilation and reduced 7-day and 30-day case fatality rates compared to alternative agents in neutropenic hematologic patients with PA BSI.
IMPORTANCE Ceftolozane-tazobactam (C/T) has been shown to be a safe and effective alternative for the treatment of difficult to treat infections due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) in the general nonimmunocompromised population. However, the experience of this agent in immunosuppressed neutropenic patients is very limited. Our study is unique because it is focused on extremely immunosuppressed hematological patients with neutropenia and bloodstream infection (BSI) due to PA (mainly multidrug resistant [MDR]), a scenario which is often associated with very high mortality rates. In our study, we found that the use of C/T for the treatment of MDR PA BSI in hematological neutropenic patients was significantly associated with improved outcomes, and, in addition, it was found to be an independent risk factor associated with increased survival. To date, this is the largest series involving neutropenic hematologic patients with PA BSI treated with C/T.This study was supported by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Subdirección General de Redes y Centros de Investigación Cooperativa, Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad, Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Enfermedades Infecciosas (CIBERINFEC), (CB21/13/00009), Madrid, Spain. How Variable Is the Volar Subcutaneous Tissue of the Digits on B-Mode and Color Doppler Ultrasound in Non-Psoriatic Individuals and Could It Be Included in a Dactylitis Score?
Background Digital subcutaneous tissue (SCT) changes are involved in dactylitis, a hallmark feature of psoriatic arthritis (PsA). There are no studies on the ultrasound (US) characteristics of the digital SCT in the general population. Objectives To investigate the variability in US-measured thickness (TH) and color Doppler (CD)-detected blood flow of the SCT of the volar aspects of the fingers in a non-psoriatic population and to investigate the impact of the scanning method and demographics and clinical features on these measurements. Methods SCT TH and semiquantitative (SQD) and quantitative (QD) Doppler signals were measured in the bilateral second finger at the proximal and middle phalanges in 81 non-psoriatic volunteers [49 female, 32 men; 18-78 years]. Two scanning methods with and without (thick gel layer interposition) probe-skin contact were used. Demographics and clinical features were collected. Results There was high variability of SCT TH and Doppler measurements between individuals. All US measurements obtained without probe-skin contact were significantly greater than their corresponding measurements obtained with the probe contacting the skin (p<0.001). SCT TH was positively related to dominant hand, age, masculine gender, weight, height, body mass index, and alcohol consumption while Doppler measurements were positively related to age and non-dominant hand. Conclusions US-measured SCT thickness and Doppler-detected SCT blood flow of the volar aspect of the fingers seem to be highly variable in the non-psoriatic population as well as highly dependent on the US scanning method. This variability is of utmost importance for assessing dactylitis in PsA
Discovery of the elusive carbonic acid (HOCOOH) in space
After a quarter century since the detection of the last interstellar
carboxylic acid, acetic acid (CHCOOH), we report the discovery of a new
one, the cis-trans form of carbonic acid (HOCOOH), toward the Galactic Center
molecular cloud G+0.693-0.027. HOCOOH stands as the first interstellar molecule
containing three oxygen atoms and also the third carboxylic acid detected so
far in the interstellar medium. Albeit the limited available laboratory
measurements (up to 65 GHz), we have also identified several pairs of unblended
lines directly in the astronomical data (between 75-120 GHz), which allowed us
to slightly improve the set of spectroscopic constants. We derive a column
density for cis-trans HOCOOH of = (6.4 0.4) 10
cm, which yields an abundance with respect to molecular H of 4.7
10. Meanwhile, the extremely low dipole moment (about fifteen
times lower) of the lower-energy conformer, cis-cis HOCOOH, precludes its
detection. We obtain an upper limit to its abundance with respect to H of
1.2 10, which suggests that cis-cis HOCOOH might be
fairly abundant in interstellar space, although it is nearly undetectable by
radio astronomical observations. We derive a cis-cis/cis-trans ratio 25,
consistent with the smaller energy difference between both conformers compared
with the relative stability of trans- and cis-formic acid (HCOOH). Finally, we
compare the abundance of these acids in different astronomical environments,
further suggesting a relationship between the chemical content found in the
interstellar medium and the chemical composition of the minor bodies of the
Solar System, which could be inherited during the star formation process.Comment: Accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journa
Interstellar detection of O-protonated carbonyl sulfide, HOCS+
We present the first detection in space of O-protonated carbonyl sulfide
(\ch{HOCS+}), in the midst of an ultradeep molecular line survey toward the
G+0.693-0.027 molecular cloud. From the observation of all = 0
transitions ranging from = 2 to = 13 of \ch{HOCS+}
covered by our survey, we derive a column density of = (9
2)10 cm, translating into a fractional abundance relative
to H of 710. Conversely, the S-protonated \ch{HSCO+}
isomer remains undetected, and we derive an upper limit to its abundance with
respect to H of 310, a factor of 2.3 less
abundant than \ch{HOCS+}. We obtain a \ch{HOCS+}/OCS ratio of
2.510, in good agreement with the prediction of
astrochemical models. These models show that one of the main chemical routes to
the interstellar formation of \ch{HOCS+} is likely the protonation of OCS,
which appears to be more efficient at the oxygen end. Also, we find that high
values of cosmic-ray ionisation rates (10-10 s) are
needed to reproduce the observed abundance of \ch{HOCS+}. In addition, we
compare the O/S ratio across different interstellar environments. G+0.693-0.027
appears as the source with the lowest O/S ratio. We find a
\ch{HOCO+}/\ch{HOCS+} ratio of 31, in accordance with other O/S molecular
pairs detected toward this region and also close to the O/S solar value
(37). This fact indicates that S is not significantly depleted within
this cloud due to the action of large-scale shocks, unlike in other sources
where S-bearing species remain trapped on icy dust grains.Comment: Forthcoming paper in The Astrophysical Journal (in press
Electrophilic nitroalkene-tocopherol derivatives: synthesis, physicochemical characterization and evaluation of anti-inflammatory signaling responses
Inflammation plays a major role in the onset and development of chronic non-communicable diseases like obesity, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Combined, these diseases represent the most common causes of death worldwide, thus development of novel pharmacological approaches is crucial. Electrophilic nitroalkenes derived from fatty acids are formed endogenously and exert anti-inflammatory actions by the modification of proteins involved in inflammation signaling cascades. We have developed novel nitroalkenes derived from α-tocopherol aiming to increase its salutary actions by adding anti-inflammatory properties to a well-known nutraceutical. We synthesized and characterized an α-tocopherol-nitroalkene (NATOH) and two hydrosoluble analogues derived from Trolox (NATxME and NATx0). We analyzed the kinetics of the Michael addition reaction of these compounds with thiols in micellar systems aiming to understand the effect of hydrophobic partition on the reactivity of nitroalkenes. We studied NATxME in vitro showing it exerts non-conventional anti-inflammatory responses by inducing Nrf2-Keap1-dependent gene expression and inhibiting the secretion of NF-κB dependent pro-inflammatory cytokines. NATxME was also effective in vivo, inhibiting neutrophil recruitment in a zebrafish model of inflammation. This work lays the foundation for the rational design of a new therapeutic strategy for the prevention and treatment of metabolic and inflammation-related disease
First glycine isomer detected in the interstellar medium: glycolamide (NHC(O)CHOH)
We report the first detection in the interstellar medium of a
CHON isomer: -glycolamide (NHC(O)CHOH). The exquisite
sensitivity at sub-mK levels of an ultra-deep spectral survey carried out with
the Yebes 40m and IRAM 30m telescopes towards the G+0.693-0.027 molecular cloud
have allowed us to unambiguously identify multiple transitions of this species.
We derived a column density of (7.4 0.7)10 cm,
which implies a molecular abundance with respect to H of
5.510. The other CHON isomers, including the
higher-energy conformer of glycolamide, and two conformers of glycine,
were not detected. The upper limit derived for the abundance of glycine
indicates that this amino acid is surely less abundant than its isomer
glycolamide in the ISM. The abundances of the CHON isomers cannot
be explained in terms of thermodynamic equilibrium, and thus chemical kinetics
need to be invoked. While the low abundance of glycine might not be surprising,
based on the relative low abundances of acids in the ISM compared to other
compounds (e.g. alcohols, aldehydes or amines), several chemical pathways can
favour the formation of its isomer glycolamide. It can be formed through
radical-radical reactions on the surface of dust grains. The abundances of
these radicals can be significantly boosted in an environment affected by a
strong ultraviolet field induced by cosmic rays, such as that expected in
G+0.693-0.027. Therefore, as shown by several recent molecular detections
towards this molecular cloud, it stands out as the best target to discover new
species with carbon, oxygen and nitrogen with increasing chemical complexity.Comment: Accepted in The Astrophysical Journal Letter
