    Efficient 3D Placement of a UAV Using Particle Swarm Optimization

    Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be used as aerial wireless base stations when cellular networks go down. Prior studies on UAV-based wireless coverage typically consider an Air-to-Ground path loss model, which assumes that the users are outdoor and they are located on a 2D plane. In this paper, we propose using a single UAV to provide wireless coverage for indoor users inside a high-rise building under disaster situations (such as earthquakes or floods), when cellular networks are down. We assume that the locations of indoor users are uniformly distributed in each floor and we propose a particle swarm optimization algorithm to find an efficient 3D placement of a UAV that minimizes the total transmit power required to cover the indoor users.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figure

    Quality of life in prostate cancer survivors in developing countries: The case of the Gaza Strip, Palestine

    Background & Aim: Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in males and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Palestine. Although, many studies were conducted in de-veloped countries to evaluate quality of life (QOL) in survivors of prostate cancer, the researchers could not find any study that was conducted in a developing country including Palestine. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the QOL of prostate cancer survivors residing in Gaza Strip, Palestine, as an example of a developing country, and compare it with the literature. Methods & Materials: A total of a 121 men who were diagnosed with prostate cancer and live in Gaza Strip participated in this cross-sectional study. The University of California at Los Angeles Prostate-Specific Index including the RAND 36-Item Health Survey v2 was used to assess QOL of participants. Results: Age of participants’ ranged between 52 and 89 years with a mean of 71.80 (SD 7.66). The greatest majority of participants (n= 94, 77.67%) were diagnosed with prostate cancer after the age of 60. The mean scores for the entire general QOL items was 47.93 (SD= 22.46) and the mean for all Prostate Cancer Index-University of California items was 44.20 (SD= 16.16). Conclusion: Prostate cancer survivors living in Gaza Strip, Palestine have lower level of QOL than their counterparts who live in developed courtiers. These differences could be related to early screening and advanced technology used to treat prostate cancer in developed countries. Health care providers and health care policy makers need to improve provided health care services and introduce screening

The spirituality of the workplace is through access to the most important scientific proposals on these topics. The research sample targeted (88) managers in the center of the Iraqi Ministry of Health exclusively from the researched senior leaders (general manager, assistant general manager, and head of department), and the main tool for research was represented by relying on solid international standards For the research variable after it has been adapted to the needs of the Iraqi environment, hypotheses and data analysis have been tested using the appropriate statistical tools (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, differential coefficient and confirmatory factor analysis) Theoretical results: The research results are formulated according to the process of intellectual reasoning and philosophical variables. Workplace spirituality in its broad sense encompasses a multidimensional concept linked to hope, desires, thinking patterns, emotions, feelings and behaviors. They are critical element in organizations' interactions with employees , customers and the community Individuals were able to integrate into their careers and enhance their job satisfaction . Practical results: The results of the statistical analysis showed the weak interest of the Ministry of Health in the spirituality of the workplace, as a result of the Ministry’s focus on routine official aspects and neglecting the spiritual aspects, feelings, and feelings of workers, which generally affected the organizational climate of the Ministry, which lost it the element of spiritual interaction that is most in need The result of the ministry’s work, which calls for a spirituality in the workplace. Originality/ Value: Focusing on the emotional and spiritual aspect of the employees.     Linguistic Evaluation of News Reports on Islamophobic Incidents

    This research paper aims at figuring out the way in which the world perceives the Islamophobic incidents. Such a global perception can be obtained from employing a kind of pervasive discourse that is emitted from global institutions and directed to the world in general. Thus, the conducted linguistic evaluation has targeted the news reports as a kind of global media discourse. The linguistic theory employed for language evaluation is Martin and White’s (2005) theory of appraisal. Three categories are classified in the appraisal theory: attitude, engagement, and graduation. Attitude is subdivided into effect, judgment, and appreciation; engagement into monogloss and hetergloss, and graduation into force and focus. The methodology works on three variables in the Islamophobic incident: the aggressor, the victim and motive. The orientation of investigation works to identify the attitude of affect directed from the report towards the victim, judgement towards the behavior of the aggressor, and appreciation towards the motive of the incident. The research also identifies the features of these attitudes as being negative or positive, the types (sub- classifications), engagement (monogloss or heterogloss), and graduation (force and focus) of the spotted attitudes. The data consists of twelve news reports selected, according to their topic, from three News agencies: BBC, Independent, and Fox News. The analysis has revealed that, contrary to many claims, news reports tend to adopt a neutral stance towards Muslims and Non- Muslims. They tend to portray the Islamophobic incidents as close to reality as possible

E-learning platforms have become the main platform for learning throughout the pandemic. However, e-learning does have challenges when it comes to ensuring student’s optimum participation throughout the learning experience that require extensive research about techniques and methods for an optimum e-learning experience. This includes various e-learning supporting tools that provides easy communication and immediate assistance to enhance user experience. The supporting tools or software usability and functionality design determined as imperative in enhancing the e-learning user experience. Thus, this research proposes a conceptual model for designing the e-learning supporting tools based on the CUE Model, integrated with Kansei Engineering for optimum user experience that can serve as a guideline for the e-learning supporting tools designer.     HARNESSING THE POWER OF SERVICE QUALITY TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN STUDENTS: AN OUM EXPERIENCE

    The increase in the number of open and distance learning (ODL) providers in Malaysia has provided potential students with bigger opportunities to access tertiary education. However, the challenge faced by the providers is that they have to compete with each other to capture the largest number of students. Getting a good intake is a necessity, retaining the existing students is equally critical as these two factors determine the financial sustainability of the institution. As in any service industry, service quality is key to the success of any higher education including ODL institution. Past studies have proposed that satisfaction is one of the key competitive advantages for a HEI as it will lead to profitability and customer loyalty. In this light, this study examines the relationship between service quality and satisfaction of Open University Malaysia (OUM) students. A performance-based instrument called SERVPERF developed by Cronin and Taylor (1992) was used as a guide for this study, some modifications were made to suit the context of OUM. The instrument consists of two sections, one of which contains 15 demographic questions and the other 65 questions measured on a 5-point Likert-type scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). Out of 22,000 active students population, 4062 (18.5%) responded and 3290 completed questionnaires were used. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple regression. The results indicated that ‘programme’, ‘teaching & learning’, ‘assurance’, ‘responsiveness’, ‘empathy’ and ‘reliability’ explained 77.9% of the variation in student satisfaction. ‘Empathy’ and ‘responsiveness’ have the greatest impact on satisfaction in the students’ perception of service quality rendered by OUM. The overall satisfaction level measured falls at 77.0% with a mean score of 3.85 on a 5 point Likert scale

    Job burnout and its relationship to achieving competitive superiority among the employees of the University of Baghdad

    This research focuses on the epidemic of Job burnout and seeks to achieve sustainable preeminence among the employees of the University of Baghdad. It also identifies the meaning of the differences between the two genders of males and females according to the variables, and it also does the correlation between the two variables. First, the two researchers developed a test of job burnout that incorporates 18 items, which has been proven to be statistically fit. Moreover, they developed a competitive superiority measure consisting of 22 items in it, and its psychometric properties confirm their fit. The two tools were applied to a sample of 120 employees who were randomly selected from six colleges at the University of Baghdad, alongside university staff. As for API 2021–2022, the research concluded that it is found that the research sample of the employees of Baghdad University did not have any job burnout. Research reveals that females and males differ in job burnout, and it is more normal for females to be depressed, which leads to burnout in the workplace. The within-group result of the research has shown the fair competitive advantage of the University of Baghdad students. No differences in male and female brains reach significance, as institutional forces push for achieving dominant positions in competition. The results of the statistical analysis confirmed that the competitive sustainability of work belonging to the staff of the University of Baghdad does not correlate with job burnout
