Dynamic Behaviour of EHD-contacts using a regularised, mass conserving Cavitation Algorithm

The paper deals with the holistic simulation of systems supported in journal bearings, which is demonstrated using the example of a conrod’s big end bearing. For that purpose, primarily the interactions of multibody-, structureand hydrodynamics have to be described. Based on the time integration of the global equations of motions, the non-linear bearing forces in the fluid film and the elastic deformation of the bearings surfaces have to be modelled adequately concerning their mutual influence. The implementation of the elastic structure is carried out by means of a hierarchised, IRS–based1modal reduction in order to represent its eigenbehaviour as realistic as possible and to fulfil the requirement of low computational costs by reducing the number of degree of freedoms. Additionally, the journal bearing is considered by an online solution of the Reynolds equation, whereat the cavitation is handled by a transient acting, mass-conserving algorithm. This is based on the classical Elrod algorithm, but was extended by a regularisation, which enables a faster and more stable solution. Due to the general approach, both mechanical and tribological output quantities are accessible. This provides the possibility to draw a comparison with simpler approaches and to emphasize the benefit of the described procedure

Spermiogramm und Seminalplasma: Der andrologische Faktor

Zusammenfassung: Das Spermiogramm liefert als wenig standardisierte Methode nur grobe Informationen zur Diagnostik männlicher Subfertilität. Daher sollte außer bei hoch pathologischen Werten das Spermiogramm nicht als alleinige Entscheidungsgrundlage für die Therapie dienen. Therapeutisch können neben der ICSI (intrazytoplasmatische Spermieninjektion) bei einer männlichen Infertilität auch mit intrauterinen Inseminationen gute Ergebnisse erzielt werden. In Fällen, bei denen selbst die ICSI-Methode versagt, scheint die IMSI-Technik (intrazytoplasmatische, morphologische selektierte Spermieninjektion) vielversprechend zu sein. Unabhängig von der Behandlungsmethode ist es von entscheidender Bedeutung, eine möglichst gute Samenprobe zu gewinnen. Dabei ist es möglich, mit einfachen Methoden wie einer Verkürzung der Abstinenzzeit oder einer Probengewinnung zu Hause die Samenqualität entscheidend zu verbessern. Neueste Erkenntnisse zeigen, dass die Anwendung von Seminalplasma in der Reproduktionsmedizin das Endometrium rezeptiver macht und somit die Implantation des Embryos unterstützen kann. Auch Geschlechtsverkehr um den Zeitpunkt des Embryotransfers scheint die Behandlung positiv zu beeinflusse

Elementary laser-less quantum logic operations with (anti-)protons in Penning traps

Static magnetic field gradients superimposed on the electromagnetic trapping potential of a Penning trap can be used to implement laser-less spin-motion couplings that allow the realization of elementary quantum logic operations in the radio-frequency regime. An important scenario of practical interest is the application to $g$-factor measurements with single (anti-)protons to test the fundamental charge, parity, time reversal (CPT) invariance as pursued in the BASE collaboration [Smorra et al., Eur. Phys. J. Spec. Top. 224, 3055-3108 (2015), Smorra et al., Nature 550, 371-374 (2017), Schneider et al., Science 358, 1081-1084 (2017)]. We discuss the classical and quantum behavior of a charged particle in a Penning trap with a superimposed magnetic field gradient. Using analytic and numerical calculations, we find that it is possible to carry out a SWAP gate between the spin and the motional qubit of a single (anti-)proton with high fidelity, provided the particle has been initialized in the motional ground state. Bibliotheken als Kunstsammlungen: Das Buchmuseum der SLUB gestern und heute

Bibliotheken besinnen sich wieder darauf, daß sie auch Kunstsammlungen sind.“ Als Erhart Kästner 1936 diese Aussage formulierte, bestand das von ihm begründete Buchmuseum der Sächsischen Landesbibliothek im Japanischen Palais gerade ein Jahr. Deutlich länger aber lassen sich die Anfänge der Ausstellungspraxis in Dresden zurückverfolgen

Aus dem Index librorum prohibitorum: Verbotene Bücher aus dem Bestand der Sächsischen Landesbibliothek - Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek von 1900 bis 1989

Bevor das Buchmuseum der Sächsischen Landesbibliothek - Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden (SLUB) an seinem alten Standort im Frühjahr 2002 geschlossen wurde und seit 15. Januar 2003 im Bibliotheksneubau wieder der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich ist, fand im November des vergangenen Jahres die letzte Eröffnung einer Sonderausstellung in den alten Räumen statt. Dem Zensieren, Verbieten und Verfolgen des gedruckten Wortes im 20. Jahrhundert nachzugehen und dies an prägnanten Beispielen vorzuführen, galt die Auswahl der Exponate. Dabei spannte sich der Bogen von staatlicher Reglementierung bis zur Selbstzensur der Autoren und Verlage. Auch die Bibliotheken blieben davon nicht unberührt, sondern beteiligten sich beispielsweise mit Ausleihbeschränkungen. Um diese Aspekte zu verdeutlichen, wurde eine chronologische Gliederung gewählt, die Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten an markanten Beispielen beleuchten sollte.Before the book museum of the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) closed at its original location in spring 2002 , ready to move into a newly built library centre, a last spezial exhibition was opened in the former rooms in November of last year. The selected exhibits offered striking examples to illustrate the censoring, prohibition and persecution of the printed word during the 20th century, whether attributable to state regimentation or self-censorship on the part of authors and publishers. Libraries were equally involved, for example with restrictions on lending.
