Frequency-splitting Dynamic MRI Reconstruction using Multi-scale 3D Convolutional Sparse Coding and Automatic Parameter Selection

Department of Computer Science and EngineeringIn this thesis, we propose a novel image reconstruction algorithm using multi-scale 3D con- volutional sparse coding and a spectral decomposition technique for highly undersampled dy- namic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) data. The proposed method recovers high-frequency information using a shared 3D convolution-based dictionary built progressively during the re- construction process in an unsupervised manner, while low-frequency information is recovered using a total variation-based energy minimization method that leverages temporal coherence in dynamic MRI. Additionally, the proposed 3D dictionary is built across three different scales to more efficiently adapt to various feature sizes, and elastic net regularization is employed to promote a better approximation to the sparse input data. Furthermore, the computational com- plexity of each component in our iterative method is analyzed. We also propose an automatic parameter selection technique based on a genetic algorithm to find optimal parameters for our numerical solver which is a variant of the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). We demonstrate the performance of our method by comparing it with state-of-the-art methods on 15 single-coil cardiac, 7 single-coil DCE, and a multi-coil brain MRI datasets at different sampling rates (12.5%, 25% and 50%). The results show that our method significantly outper- forms the other state-of-the-art methods in reconstruction quality with a comparable running time and is resilient to noise.ope

INCREASE STUDENTS' INTEREST THROUGH THE MBT-03 TRAINING MACHINE APPLICATION INTO AK GUN PRACTICE COURSE

    Get PDF
This article aims to briefly assess the advantages and limitations of the BT-03 shooting machine when it is applied to the practical teaching of the practical module of National Defense and Security Education (NDSE) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. Through surveying the Likert scale (5 levels) with 340 students and 28 experts, the author conducted quantitative statistical analysis to compare the interest of learners and lecturers after their experience with this device. The results showed that both students and lecturers highly appreciated all 10 observed variables affecting the excitement through the application of the MBT-03 exercise machine. This is the basis for universities and national defense education centers to consult and invest in shooting machines that combine information technology in teaching. Thereby, it helps to innovate teaching methods in a positive way and contributes to improving the quality of NDSE.  Article visualizations

MARKET RESEARCH: SWECO FINLAND’S POTENTIAL ENTRY IN VIETNAM IN INFRASTRUCTURE CONSULTING BUSINESS

    Get PDF
The research resulted in a comprehensive overview of the Vietnamese public infrastructure market. Primary data confirmed most of the secondary data collected while adding more supporting details, with no perceivable contradiction among data sources. Macro-economically, Vietnam emerged as a high-potential market due to the rapid economic growth, the massive infrastructure demand driven by urbanization and industrialization, and the Government’s recent efforts. However, there were market uncertainties that required careful consideration, with regulatory inefficiency and corruption being the most prominent ones. Culturally, Vietnam and Finland exhibited distinct differences. The thesis concluded that Vietnam was a market of high potentiality and medium risk. The author’s recommendations for market entry included a careful approach to mitigate risks concerning regulations, and the addition of a translator when negotiating to reduce the risk of cultural misunderstanding

Provitamin a biofortification in maize through genetic engineering and marker-assisted selection

    Get PDF
Maize is an important cereal in the global economy, which feeds one-third of the world’s population and is the third largest food crop after wheat and rice. Nutritional quality of most maize varieties is very low due to the lack of lysine and tryptophan and extremely low provitamin A carotenoids including α-carotene, β-carotene, and β-cryptoxanthin. Therefore, one of the solutions to improve nutritional value in maize is to improve provitamin A carotenoids contents. Many efforts have been made to produce maize plants with enhanced provitamin A carotenoids, especially, β -carotene. This article aims to review the research towards provitamin A biofortification through genetic engineering and marker-assisted selection. The published results and our recent achievements open the window for the improvement of provitamin A carotenoids in maize as well as the issues that need the further investigation.

BICYCLE - AN EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO RESERVE GREEN, CLEAN AND SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT

    Get PDF
At present, environmental pollution is increasing in Vietnam in particular and in the world in general, and it is a ringing alarm. Humans have caused too many negative impacts on the environment, resulting in a series of pollutions such as water, land, especially air pollution. Increasing the number of vehicles that are uncontrolled closely causes frequent traffic congestion and the emission of more harmful gases. According to statistics, 70% of air pollution is caused by exhaust gases from cars and motorbikes. These toxins are factors that reduce memory, cognitive ability, coordination between the eyes and hands, stress and increase the rate of cancer... Confronting the situation, people, civil servants, especially students, need to establish healthy traveling habits through the use of bicycles as a practical solution to promote health, contributing to restrict environmental pollution as well as reducing traffic accidents.  Article visualizations

Numerical analysis of subsoil-reinforced concrete slab interaction

    Get PDF
This article presents the numerical modeling of interaction between a reinforced concrete slab and subsoil using ABAQUS. Subsoil was simulated as both homogeneous half-space and inhomogeneous half-space. Reinforcement bars in the concrete slab were accurately modelled allowing capturing a precise deformation profile of the slab in interaction with subsoil. Input data for numerical analysis were adopted from a published work. Results of the study were verified on the basis of comparison with those of the previous study
