identificados 20 haplótipos, 13 pertencentes à linhagem Africana (A), 1 haplótipo
pertencente à linhagem da Europa Ocidental (M), 1 haplótipo pertencente à linhagem da
Europa Oriental (C) de Apis mellifera e 5 novos haplótipos a aguardar sequenciação. A
sub-linhagem AII com apenas 14,91% do total da linhagem A. The Iberian Peninsula is the region of Europe where is found the greatest genetic
diversity in honey bees (Apis mellifera L.). While the honey bee populations in Spain
are well characterized, the genetic composition of the Portuguese populations is
virtually unknown. In this study 322 colonies were sampled along the costal lane of
Portugal representing 90 counties belonging to the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga,
Porto, Aveiro, Viseu, Coimbra, Leiria, Lisboa, Santarém, Setúbal, Beja e Faro. The
DNA was extracted following the Chelex method and the Dra I test was used to identify
the haplotypes. This test consists of PCR amplification of the intergenic COI-COII
mtDNA region, followed by a digestion of the amplified product with the Dra I
enzyme. The results indicate a high level of mtDNA diversity along the Portuguese
atlantic coast. In fact, 20 haplotypes were identified, 15 of wich belong to the African
evolutionary lineage (A); 1 to the western European lineage (M); 1 to the eastern
European and northern Mediterranean lineage (C) and 5 new haplotypes wich will be
sequenced. The dominium of the African lineage on this corner of the Iberian Peninsula
is congruent with the north-east-south-west cline found in Spain. Within the African
evolutionary lineage, the sub-lineage AI is the most frequent (59,54% of the total of the
African evolutionary lineage), followed by the sub-lineage AIII (25,55% of the total of
the African evolutionary lineage) and the last, sub-lineage AII with only 14,91% of the
total of the African evolutionary lineage
Evaluating quality of experience in food grocery retail and its impact on satisfaction, loyalty and repurchase intention
As food retailing customers become more demanding, and the number of service companies increases,
the challenge to remain competitive grows. Nowadays, a successful retailer must provide the customer
with a memorable shopping experience, embracing the concept of Customer Experience into their
service core.
Given these circumstances, the present thesis proposes to evaluate the Customer Experience from
the customers' perspective for Food Retailers in Portugal, specifically Continente and Lidl. For this
purpose, the instrument EXQ presented by Maklan and Klaus (2011), and adjusted later on by Klaus
(2015), was used. Another intent is the evaluation of the relationships between Customer Experience,
Satisfaction, Loyalty, and Repurchase Intention.
This study resourced to an online questionnaire - gathering a total of 311 responses -, and to
analytic quantitative methodologies, in order to answer its research question. The data analysis
combined descriptive analysis, internal consistency and correlation statistics, hypotheses testing, and
linear regressions (simple and multiple).
The results suggest that Customer Experience is evaluated at low yet positive values, for these
Portuguese retailer chains. The evaluations by the customers concerning Satisfaction, Loyalty, and
Repurchase Intention are also moderately positive.
When testing the influence of Customer Experience on Repurchase Intention, it was found that there
is a positive relational effect, mainly through the mediation occurring in the effects from Satisfaction
and from Loyalty.
Finally, within the explored context, the greatest pain point (and improvement opportunity) is found
within the one-on-one customer-personnel interactions. Specifically, the lack of personal relationships
Do hereditary syndrome-related gynecologic cancers have any specific features?
Hereditary syndromes are responsible for 10 % of
gynaecologic cancers, among which hereditary breastovarian
cancer and hereditary non-polyposis colon cancer
syndromes, known as HBOC and Lynch syndromes respectively,
present the highest relative risk. The latter predisposes
to endometrial cancer and both contribute to
ovarian cancer. Cowden syndrome-related endometrial cancer
and the increased risk of ovarian, uterine and cervical
cancers associated with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, are also
demonstrated, while Li-Fraumeni syndrome patients are
prone to develop ovarian and endometrial cancers. Despite
these syndromes’ susceptibility to gynaecologic cancers
being consensual, it is still not clear whether these tumours
have any epidemiologic, clinical, pathologic or imaging
specific features that could allow any of the intervening
physicians to raise suspicion of a hereditary syndrome
in patients without known genetic risk. Moreover,
controversy exists regarding both screening and surveillance
schemes. Our literature review provides an updated
perspective on the evidence-based specific features of tumours
related to each of these syndromes as well as on
the most accepted screening and surveillance guidelines. In
addition, some illustrative cases are presented
TEMPERATURE MONITORING FOR LITHIUM-SULFUR BATTERIES
With the increasing modernization of the world in which we live, the evolution of batteries is one of the most important requirements. Li-S batteries can meet the demands of the market, but in addition to their energy storage capacity, their safety is also imperative. Having a passive system that allows us to monitor what is going on inside the battery, namely inside the electrolyte, is extremely vital to ensure the safety of the battery.
The sensors manufactured and studied in this work can be the first step towards a system to check in real-time how changes are happening inside a battery. In this work, the fabrication of the sensors composed of titanium and copper is made and the mechanism used to study the sensor is as follows:
The sensor is connected to a network analyzer that will make a frequency sweep. When the frequency of the sweep signal is close to the natural frequency of the sensor, the sensor resonates. By extracting the lowest point of the frequency vs. S11 curve, the resonant frequency of the sensor can be obtained.
For this sensor, three distinct peaks were identified, associated with the resonant frequency. The peak between 0.93 and 1.16 GHz was the one that proved to be the most promising to be used in temperature measurement, due to its greater sensitivity compared to the other two.
The results showed that when increasing temperature, the resonance frequency of the sensor decreases. Although for measurements of the sensor incorporated with the electrolyte, the response was not as linear as expected, which could be due to factors such as the type of solvent used for the electrolyte, humidity, and the possible degradation of the polymers used in the electrolyte
Evaluation of health outcomes associated with medication in southern Portugal using a novel approach for medication review: ReMeD study
Currently, a large portion of the world's population uses medication on a regular
basis and uses health services frequently, mainly due to the increase of
longevity and the growing number of chronic diseases (CD).
Consequently, a correct medication management is needed in order to improve
the responsible use of medicines and health outcomes. Portugal shows a high
prevalence of CD such as hypertension, obesity, dyslipidaemia and diabetes.
Moreover, the Algarve region presents some shortcomings in accessibility to
healthcare.
Therefore, this research project arises with the main aim of establishing a
methodology to analyse the outcomes of the process of medication use (MU)
through medication review (MR) , in a clinical practice setting in Southern
Portugal (AEDMADA clinic), applied in the ReMeD study. Patient´s data was
collected individually and then systematically analysed considering the
humanistic, economic and clinical outcomes.
A questionnaire (SAHL-S&E) was previously adapted for the Portuguese
language aimimg to identify subjects with low health literacy (HL), which was
then used during the MR.
The ReMeD study was conducted in 118 patients, mainly 65 years,
hypertense, diabetic, dyslipidemic and presenting a very high cardiovascular
risk.
Humanistic outcomes showed 25.4% of patients having low medication
knowledge, 43.2% with low HL and about 25% being non-adherent to
medication.
Economic outcomes revealed that most patients were polymedicated (73.8%)
and monitored by 2-3 Physicians, and about 15% suffering hospitalization in the
last year.
Negative clinical outcomes (NCO) were identified in 99.2% of patients, and
74.6% presented risks of developing NCO.
As a whole, the ReMeD methodology seems appropriate to identify situations
from the process of MU, useful to outline new strategies aimed to improve
patient's MU and the empowerment for disease management. Applying this
novel approach enables the conduction of MR in a clinical setting, allowing to
pinpoint modifiable situations, contributing to improve health outcomes
A Historiografia Rural Portuguesa
Since then, research on rural history of the early modern period has begun, in the context of an opening of Portuguese historiography to unexplored territories. At a fi rst stage, early modernist historians, following the guide lines of French and Spanish historiography, focused on conjunctural issues, dealing with indicators such as commodity prices, production and population. Later, welcoming English and Italian historiographical infl uences, they turned to subjects on rural social history. Traditional matters of agrarian history (landscapes, techniques, cultivation systems, property) have also drawn their attention. This article intends to chart a state of the art balance, comprehending both the results of the already carried out research and the problems still under observation.</p
mellifera
L.) abrange a África, a Europa e o Médio
Oriente (Figura 1). Esta ampla área geográfica é
ocupada por 30 subespécies (raças geográficas)
de abelhas (Ruttner 1988; Engel 1999; Sheppard
e Meixner 2003; Meixner et al. 2011) que têm sido
agrupadas em quatro linhagens (Ruttner 1988),
nomeadamente: a linhagem do Médio Oriente (O),
a linhagem Africana (A), a linhagem da Europa
oriental (C) e a linhagem da Europa ocidental (M).
A Europa alberga uma importante componente dessa
diversidade representada pela ocorrência de duas
das quatro linhagens (C e M). A linhagem C agrupa
escala mundial: a italiana (A. m. ligustica) e a carniola
(A. m. carnica).
à Rússia, agrupa apenas duas subespécies: a abelha
negra (A. m. mellifera), a norte dos Pirenéus, e a abelha
ibérica (A. m. iberiensis), na Península Ibérica.Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologi
