    Integration of biological data resources using image object keying.

    This paper proposes a novel concept of ‘image object keying'. The work builds on earlier research in this area and shows how the 3D structure of a protein can be retrieved interactively from a gel electrophoresis protein spot. It uses intelligent image matching operations like the Hough Transform and Edge Detection techniques. Unique aspects are that searches may be initiated from multiple biological resources but with the results being integrated into a single page. A significant outcome of this work is that it enables researchers to search the database without the need to write and complex script

    From local laboratory data to public domain database in search of indirect association of diseases: AJAX based gene data search engine.

    This paper presents an extensible schema for capturing laboratory gene variance data with its meta-data properties in a semi-structured environment. This paper also focuses on the issues of creating a local and task specific component database which is a subset of global data resources. An XML based genetic disorder component database schema is developed with adequate flexibilities to facilitate searching of gene mutation data. A web based search engine is developed that allows researchers to query a set of gene parameters obtained from local XML schema and subsequently allow them to automatically establish a link with the public domain gene databases. The application applies AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML), a cutting-edge web technology, to carry out the gene data searching function

    An Efficient Approach for Generalized Load Balancing in Multipath Packet Switched Networks

    This paper is a quantitative analysis on packet switched network with a view to generalize load balancing and determination of appropriate routing algorithm in multipath environment. Several routing algorithms have been introduced for routing of packets from source to destination. Some of them route packets accurately with increased workload and some of them drastically cut down the workload. A few of them can find out a minimum workload deviation for both UDP and TCP packets. We simulated these approaches in a well defined simulator, analyzed and evaluated their performance. After expanding our analysis with varying weights and number of paths we found that the recently proposed routing algorithm Mixed Weighted Fair Routing (MWFR) outperforms the existing routing algorithms by reducing the routing and network overhead and saving the scarce bandwidth as well as CPU consumption for packet switching networks.Comment: 12 Pages, IJCNC Journal 201

    Quantum Games with Correlated Noise

    We analyze quantum game with correlated noise through generalized quantization scheme. Four different combinations on the basis of entanglement of initial quantum state and the measurement basis are analyzed. It is shown that the advantage that a quantum player can get by exploiting quantum strategies is only valid when both the initial quantum state and the measurement basis are in entangled form. Furthermore, it is shown that for maximum correlation the effects of decoherence diminish and it behaves as a noiseless game.Comment: 12 page

    Secure and Distributed Approach for Mining Association Rules

    Data mining is the process of extracting trends from data sources. Domain exerts can make use of the trends to derive business intelligence. Big organizations store data in multiple server and often data is horizontally distributed. Mining such database provides useful and actionable knowledge which can help in making well informed decisions. However, secure mining of extracting association rules can provide interesting information that can help enterprises to make expert decisions. In this paper, we propose an algorithm and have a secure mechanism in order to mine association rules for deriving knowledge. We also incorporated auditing of data in the proposed system. We built a prototype application that demonstrates the secure mining of association rules with support and confidence. The statistical measures such as support and confidence help in knowing the usefulness of the rules. The empirical results are encouraging

    How frequent are close supermassive binary black holes in powerful jet sources?

Their binary nature can also be revealed by radio jets via a short-period precession driven by the orbital motion as well as the geodetic precession at typically longer periods. We have investigated Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array and Multi-Element Radio Linked Interferometer Network (MERLIN) radio maps of powerful jet sources for morphological evidence of geodetic precession. For perhaps the best-studied source, Cygnus A, we find strong evidence for geodetic precession. Projection effects can enhance precession features, for which we find indications in strongly projected sources. For a complete sample of 33 3CR radio sources, we find strong evidence for jet precession in 24 cases (73 per cent). The morphology of the radio maps suggests that the precession periods are of the order of 10 6- 10 7 yr. We consider different explanations for the morphological features and conclude that geodetic precession is the best explanation. The frequently observed gradual jet angle changes in samples of powerful blazars can be explained by orbital motion. Both observations can be explained simultaneously by postulating that a high fraction of powerful radio sources have subparsec supermassive black hole binaries.We consider complementary evidence and discuss if any jetted supermassive black hole with some indication of precession could be detected as individual gravitational wave source in the near future.
