    La ejecución de infraestructuras en el medio rural

    La preocupación del hombre por cuidar sus intervenciones en el medio natural es relativamente reciente y proviene de esa relación del hombre con la naturaleza que supone el hecho de construir y de la generación del lugar. La creciente conciencia social y el convencimiento de la necesidad de conservar el equilibrio natural como forma de proteger la biodiversidad y conservar el espacio, ha mediatizado las intervenciones en el medio natural, provocando inseguridades y dudas que se reflejan en lo allí construido. La solución habitual ha sido "no hacer" o "hacer lo mínimo", apoyándose en lo ya existente. Se propone valorar el paisaje como un recurso natural más del espacio, afectado por las intervenciones de carácter antrópico que se producen sobre el mismo. Esta propuesta pretende reflexionar la forma de actuar en los espacios físicos para su adecuación a las necesidades planteadas, con el objetivo de su utilización y disfrute

    A numerical model for unsteady shallow water flow over initially dry areas is applied to a case study in a small drainage area at the Spanish Ebro River basin. Several flood mitigation measures (reforestation, construction of a small reservoir and channelization) are simulated in the model in order to compare different extreme rainfall-runoff scenarios

    EmotIoT: an IoT system to improve users’ wellbeing

    IoT provides applications and possibilities to improve people’s daily lives and business environments. However, most of these technologies have not been exploited in the field of emotions. With the amount of data that can be collected through IoT, emotions could be detected and anticipated. Since the study of related works indicates a lack of methodological approaches in designing IoT systems from the perspective of emotions and smart adaption rules, we introduce a methodology that can help design IoT systems quickly in this scenario, where the detection of users is valuable. In order to test the methodology presented, we apply the proposed stages to design an IoT smart recommender system named EmotIoT. The system allows anticipating and predicting future users’ emotions using parameters collected from IoT devices. It recommends new activities for the user in order to obtain a final state. Test results validate our recommender system as it has obtained more than 80% accuracy in predicting future user emotions

    Affine convex body semigroups

    In this paper we present a new kind of semigroups called convex body semigroups which are generated by convex bodies of R^k. They generalize to arbitrary dimension the concept of proportionally modular numerical semigroup of [7]. Several properties of these semigroups are proven. Affine convex body semigroups obtained from circles and polygons of R^2 are characterized. The algorithms for computing minimal system of generators of these semigroups are given. We provide the implementation of some of them

    A model for computing thermally-driven shallow flows

    In many natural disasters such as overland oil spills or lava flows, physical fluid properties as density change when considering non-homogeneous spatial and time variable distributions of the temperature. This effect is even more remarkable when these flows show a non-Newtonian behaviour due to the sensitivity of their rheological properties as viscosity or yield stress to temperature. In these cases, temperature becomes a significant variable that drives the fluid behaviour, which must be solved using an energy equation coupled with the free surface flow system. Special attention is devoted to thermal source terms which must include all the heat fluid exchanges, and their modelling sometimes can govern the complete flow behaviour. Fluid density, viscosity and yield stress, also affected by temperature, must be recomputed every time step. Summarizing, this work presents a 2D free surface flow model considering density and temperature variations, which could even modify viscosity and yield stress, with heat transfer mechanisms. The model is applied to oil spill overland simulations and heating/cooling test cases are carried out to ensure the system energy balance. As conclusions, it can be said that the numerical results demonstrate the importance of the heat exchange effects and those of the density, viscosity and yield stress variations
