Context-Aware Service Discovering System for Nomad Users

    No full text
International audienceThis paper presents an architecture for a system that provides nomad users, context-aware personalised services. Users might need any sort of services: information about the weather forecast for the next day, or about a museum in the neighbour worth to visit. These services are known as stateless services. More complex situations ocurre when services are stateful. Such services are, for example those which need users to be logged in (e.g. booking a room in a hotel). The question discussed in the text are those related to: i) user's privacy, ii) recommendation and discovery of services, iii) composition of recommended services into a composite service, and iv) execution of the resulting composite service

This dissertation was developed from the analysis of the newspaper O Jequitin-honha, that circulated in Diamantina-MG between 1860-1873, and its main collab-orator and owner, Joaquim Fel?cio dos Santos. We use as publications from the years 1862 and 1868 to 1873 the periods in which the tracts were published: The History of Brazil, written by Dr. Jeremiah in the year 2862 (1862) and Pages of the History of Brazil, written in the year of 2000 (1868-1873). The works are projec-tions about the future of Brazil in the 2000s and are analyzed together with two other works by Fel?cio dos Santos: Memories of the Diamantino District of Serro Frio (1861-1862) and Acayaca: indigenous romance (1862-1863). In addition to performing a chronology of the life of Fel?cio dos Santos and Jequitinhonha, we basically use two analytical categories. The first involves a formation of the nine-teenth-century historian, employing the concept of an erudite historian and anti-quarian to ex-press as the media in the second half of the nineteenth century. We also focused on a story written for IHGB and how it influenced a writing of a na-tional history. In the second category, we use the concepts worked by Hans Gum-brecht, on how the historical time chronotope, Stimmung and reality effects help to think the future created by Fel?cio dos Santos, together with the time stratification model of Reinhart Koselleck The future Defining the utopian character or prognosis of textual adjustment. Together with this analysis he uses a notion of responsibility for the writing of History developed by Hayden White

Background: the purpose of this study is to compare the nutritional intake, fat mass and VO2max between amateur and professional boxers at the beginning of the season, as well as the nutritional requirement and consumption within and between groups and the percentage of intergroup nutritional adequacy. Methods: a non-experimental, cross-sectional cohort study was conducted with 41 male boxers (26 professionals and 15 amateurs; M=20.29±3.29 years). The sample was selected for convenience and was stratified by sports mastery Student's t tests were applied to compare the inter- and intra-group variables and significance of p≤0.05. Results: greater energy needs were observed in professional boxers, although deficient in both groups with respect to daily caloric intake (p<0.05), mainly due to carbohydrate intake (5.68±1.72gr/kg/body weight; amateurs and 5.63±2.18gr/kg/body weight; professionals). Both groups presented imbalance in the intake of micronutrients, mainly iron, sodium, zinc, ascorbic acid, tocopherol and retinol. Conclusions: there was a deficient daily caloric intake in both groups of boxers with intra- and intergroup micronutrient imbalances, which could negatively affect the physical performance of the boxers at some stage of training.

Single to Double Hump Transition in the Equilibrium Distribution Function of Relativistic Particles

We unveil a transition from single peaked to bimodal velocity distribution in a relativistic fluid under increasing temperature, in contrast with a non-relativistic gas, where only a monotonic broadening of the bell-shaped distribution is observed. Such transition results from the interplay between the raise in thermal energy and the constraint of maximum velocity imposed by the speed of light. We study the Bose-Einstein, the Fermi-Dirac, and the Maxwell-J\"uttner distributions, all exhibiting the same qualitative behavior. We characterize the nature of the transition in the framework of critical phenomena and show that it is either continuous or discontinuous, depending on the group velocity. We analyze the transition in one, two, and three dimensions, with special emphasis on two-dimensions, for which a possible experiment in graphene, based on the measurement of the Johnson-Nyquist noise, is proposed.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

Farms, pipes, streams and reforestation : reasoning about structured parallel processes using types and hylomorphisms

The increasing importance of parallelism has motivated the creation of better abstractions for writing parallel software, including structured parallelism using nested algorithmic skeletons. Such approaches provide high-level abstractions that avoid common problems, such as race conditions, and often allow strong cost models to be defined. However, choosing a combination of algorithmic skeletons that yields good parallel speedups for a program on some specific parallel architecture remains a difficult task. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to simultaneously reason both about the costs of different parallel structures and about the semantic equivalences between them. This paper presents a new type-based mechanism that enables strong static reasoning about these properties. We exploit well-known properties of a very general recursion pattern, hylomorphisms, and give a denotational semantics for structured parallel processes in terms of these hylomorphisms. Using our approach, it is possible to determine formally whether it is possible to introduce a desired parallel structure into a program without altering its functional behaviour, and also to choose a version of that parallel structure that minimises some given cost model.Postprin

Systematic Global Analysis of Genes Encoding Protein Phosphatases in Aspergillus fumigatus.

Aspergillus fumigatus is a fungal pathogen that causes several invasive and noninvasive diseases named aspergillosis. This disease is generally regarded as multifactorial, considering that several pathogenicity determinants are present during the establishment of this illness. It is necessary to obtain an increased knowledge of how, and which, A. fumigatus signal transduction pathways are engaged in the regulation of these processes. Protein phosphatases are essential to several signal transduction pathways. We identified 32 phosphatase catalytic subunit-encoding genes in A. fumigatus, of which we were able to construct 24 viable deletion mutants. The role of nine phosphatase mutants in the HOG (high osmolarity glycerol response) pathway was evaluated by measuring phosphorylation of the p38 MAPK (SakA) and expression of osmo-dependent genes. We were also able to identify 11 phosphatases involved in iron assimilation, six that are related to gliotoxin resistance, and three implicated in gliotoxin production. These results present the creation of a fundamental resource for the study of signaling in A. fumigatus and its implications in the regulation of pathogenicity determinants and virulence in this important pathogen

    TBA for non-perturbative moduli spaces

Recently, an exact description of instanton corrections to the moduli spaces of 4d N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories compactified on a circle and Calabi-Yau compactifications of Type II superstring theories was found. The equations determining the instanton contributions turn out to have the form of Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz. We explore further this relation and, in particular, we identify the contact potential of quaternionic string moduli space with the free energy of the integrable system and the Kahler potential of the gauge theory moduli space with the Yang-Yang functional. We also show that the corresponding S-matrix satisfies all usual constraints of 2d integrable models, including crossing and bootstrap, and derive the associated Y-system. Surprisingly, in the simplest case the Y-system is described by the MacMahon function relevant for crystal melting and topological strings.Comment: 25 pages, 1 figur
