ADIPLS -- the Aarhus adiabatic oscillation package
Development of the Aarhus adiabatic pulsation code started around 1978.
Although the main features have been stable for more than a decade, development
of the code is continuing, concerning numerical properties and output. The code
has been provided as a generally available package and has seen substantial use
at a number of installations. Further development of the package, including
bringing the documentation closer to being up to date, is planned as part of

ASTEC -- the Aarhus STellar Evolution Code
The Aarhus code is the result of a long development, starting in 1974, and
still ongoing. A novel feature is the integration of the computation of
adiabatic oscillations for specified models as part of the code. It offers
substantial flexibility in terms of microphysics and has been carefully tested
for the computation of solar models. However, considerable development is still
required in the treatment of nuclear reactions, diffusion and convective

A hybrid approach to conjunctive partial evaluation of logic programs
Conjunctive partial deduction is a well-known technique for the partial evaluation of logic programs. The original formulation follows the so called online approach where all termination decisions are taken on-the-fly. In contrast, offline partial evaluators first analyze the source program and produce an annotated version so that the partial evaluation phase should only follow these annotations to ensure the termination of the process. In this work, we introduce a lightweight approach to conjunctive partial deduction that combines some of the advantages of both online and offline styles of partial evaluation. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.This work has been partially supported by the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e

The Role of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Comprehensive Management of Pediatric Oncology Patients in the Inpatient Setting
The role of the pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) in the comprehensive management of pediatric oncology patients in the inpatient setting was examined at a large tertiary teaching hospital. This article shows role responsibilities including new diagnosis teaching, procedures, routine chemotherapy, patients' comprehensive medical management, coordination of nursing care across settings, phone triage, and professional development. A PNP's typical day is highlighted to illustrate the innovative merging of traditional ambulatory care roles with that of the PNP as a comprehensive manager of pediatric oncology patients in the inpatient setting. A Pre-Landing Assessment of Regolith Properties at the InSight Landing Site
This article discusses relevant physical properties of the regolith at the Mars InSight landing site as understood prior to landing of the spacecraft. InSight will land in the northern lowland plains of Mars, close to the equator, where the regolith is estimated to be ≥3--5 m thick. These investigations of physical properties have relied on data collected from Mars orbital measurements, previously collected lander and rover data, results of studies of data and samples from Apollo lunar missions, laboratory measurements on regolith simulants, and theoretical studies. The investigations include changes in properties with depth and temperature. Mechanical properties investigated include density, grain-size distribution, cohesion, and angle of internal friction. Thermophysical properties include thermal inertia, surface emissivity and albedo, thermal conductivity and diffusivity, and specific heat. Regolith elastic properties not only include parameters that control seismic wave velocities in the immediate vicinity of the Insight lander but also coupling of the lander and other potential noise sources to the InSight broadband seismometer. The related properties include Poisson’s ratio, P- and S-wave velocities, Young’s modulus, and seismic attenuation. Finally, mass diffusivity was investigated to estimate gas movements in the regolith driven by atmospheric pressure changes. Physical properties presented here are all to some degree speculative. However, they form a basis for interpretation of the early data to be returned from the InSight mission.Additional co-authors: Nick Teanby and Sharon Keda
Radiative properties of stellar plasmas and open challenges
The lifetime of solar-like stars, the envelope structure of more massive
stars, and stellar acoustic frequencies largely depend on the radiative
properties of the stellar plasma. Up to now, these complex quantities have been
estimated only theoretically. The development of the powerful tools of helio-
and astero- seismology has made it possible to gain insights on the interiors
of stars. Consequently, increased emphasis is now placed on knowledge of the
monochromatic opacity coefficients. Here we review how these radiative
properties play a role, and where they are most important. We then concentrate
specifically on the envelopes of Cephei variable stars. We discuss the
dispersion of eight different theoretical estimates of the monochromatic
opacity spectrum and the challenges we need to face to check these calculations
