Determining science teacher candidates’ comprehension level of equations

    Get PDF
It is commonly known that mathematics is used in many subjects in physics and chemistry courses and the relations between mathematics and variables are more easily understood. These courses also comprise a number of equations that correspond to a mathematical correlation and are also called formulas. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to determine the level of science teachers to verbally express the meaning of the equations given and comprehension of the mathematical structure of equations. The data obtained with the help of open-ended questions were analyzed by the content analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. According to the data obtained, code, category and themes were created. The study was carried out with science teacher candidates studying at the Faculty of Education of Bursa Uludağ University in the 2017 and 2018 academic year. When the obtained data were evaluated, it was found that majority of the teacher candidates had difficulty in expressing fully the concept of equation, and in perceiving the mathematical structure of the equations and in drawing the graphs of the equationsPeer Reviewe

A note on generalizations of semisimple modules

summary:A left module MM over an arbitrary ring is called an RD\mathcal{RD}-module (or an RS\mathcal{RS}-module) if every submodule NN of MM with Rad(M)N{\rm Rad}(M)\subseteq N is a direct summand of (a supplement in, respectively) MM. In this paper, we investigate the various properties of RD\mathcal{RD}-modules and RS\mathcal{RS}-modules. We prove that MM is an RD\mathcal{RD}-module if and only if M=Rad(M)XM={\rm Rad}(M)\oplus X, where XX is semisimple. We show that a finitely generated RS\mathcal{RS}-module is semisimple. This gives us the characterization of semisimple rings in terms of RS\mathcal{RS}-modules. We completely determine the structure of these modules over Dedekind domains

Parametric amplification with weak-link nonlinearity in superconducting microresonators

Nonlinear kinetic inductance in a high Q superconducting coplanar waveguide microresonator can cause a bifurcation of the resonance curve. Near the critical pumping power and frequency for bifurcation, large parametric gain is observed for signals in the frequency band near resonance. We show experimental results on signal and intermodulation gain which are well described by a theory of the parametric amplification based on a Kerr nonlinearity. Phase dependent gain, or signal squeezing, is verified with a homodyne detection scheme.Comment: Submitted to Physica Scripta, topical issue: Nobel Symposium on Quantum Bits, 2009. 10 pages, 5 figures. Version 2 contains a few new sentences about the current-phase relation of weak link

(3x3)inçlik Nal (Tl) Dedektörleri için toplam verim ve tüm enerji pik duyarlığı değerleri Monte - Carlo Yöntemi kullanılarak hesaplanmıştır. 0.1. The total efficiencies and full energy peak efficiencies are calculated using the Monte - Carlo method for the 3"x3" Nal (Tl) detector, we consider the position of the point or disk gamma ray sources on the symmetry axis of the detector, 1 to 20 cm away from the detector face, for 0.1-1,5 MeV photon energies. We ignore the pair production effects in this energy region.Türkiye Atom Enerjisi Kurum

Multiple dens invaginatus. A case report

PubMed ID: 8247503A case of dens invaginatus in all four quadrants is reported. Although it is seen mostly in maxillary permanent incisors, mandibular involvement is rare. In this article, in addition to the involvement of the maxillary lateral incisors, the involvement of the right and left mandibular premolars has been presented as well. © 1993

The purpose of this study is the determination of the science teacher candidates’ views on electronic waste pollution. The participants of the study were determined with a purposive sample which enables researcher to choose the ones who are believed to find to solutions to the problems of the researcher. Total 144 high school students from different type school are participated to study during the 2016-2017 academic year. Data were collected open-ended questions which developed by the researchers. Students were answered the related seven open ended questions in almost one hour. The qualitative data obtained from the study were analyzed using a phenomenological method. According to results of the study, it was determined that students are not sufficiently knowledgeable about the electronic waste, sources of electronic waste, evaluating of electronic devices. It was recommended that teachers candidates need to be aware of this issue

Soft regular generalized closed sets in soft topological spaces

    No full text
Many researchers defined some basic notions on soft topology and studied many properties. In this paper, we define soft regular generalized closed and open sets in soft topological spaces and studied their some properties. We introduce these concepts which are defined over an initial universe with a fixed set of parameters. We investigate behavior relative to union, intersection and soft subspaces of soft regular generalized closed sets. We show that every soft generalized closed set is soft regular generalized closed. Also, we investigate many basic properties of these concepts. 2014 Sa¸ziye Yüksel, Naime Tozlu and Zehra Güzel Ergül
