Geometric and spectral properties of causal maps
We study the random planar map obtained from a critical, finite variance,
Galton-Watson plane tree by adding the horizontal connections between
successive vertices at each level. This random graph is closely related to the
well-known causal dynamical triangulation that was introduced by Ambj{\o}rn and
Loll and has been studied extensively by physicists. We prove that the
horizontal distances in the graph are smaller than the vertical distances, but
only by a subpolynomial factor: The diameter of the set of vertices at level
is both and . This enables us to prove that the spectral
dimension of the infinite version of the graph is almost surely equal to 2, and
consequently that the random walk is diffusive almost surely. We also initiate
an investigation of the case in which the offspring distribution is critical
and belongs to the domain of attraction of an -stable law for , for which our understanding is much less complete.Institut Universitaire de France,

High-spin structures of 88Kr and 89Rb: Evolution from collective to single-particle behaviors
The high-spin states of the two neutron-rich nuclei, 88Kr and 89R have been
studied from the 18O + 208Pb fusion-fission reaction. Their level schemes were
built from triple gamma-ray coincidence data and gamma-gamma angular
correlations were analyzed in order to assign spin and parity values to most of
the observed states. The two levels schemes evolve from collective structures
to single-particle excitations as a function of the excitation energy.
Comparison with results of shell-model calculations gives the specific proton
and neutron configurations which are involved to generate the angular momentum
along the yrast lines.Comment: 12 pages, 9 figures, Physical Review C (2013) in pres
High-spin structures of 136Cs
Odd-odd 136Cs nuclei have been produced in the 18O + 208Pb and 12C + 238U
fusion-fission reactions and their gamma rays studied with the Euroball array.
The high-spin level scheme has been built up to ~ 4.7 MeV excitation energy and
spin I ~ 16 hbar from the triple gamma-ray coincidence data. The configurations
of the three structures observed above ~ 2 MeV excitation energy are first
discussed by analogy with the proton excitations identified in the semi-magic
137Cs nucleus, which involve the three high-j orbits lying above the Z=50 gap,
pi g_{7/2}, pi d_{5/2} and pi h_{11/2}. This is confirmed by the results of
shell-model calculations performed in this work.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, 3 table
GDR Feeding of the Highly-Deformed Band in 42Ca
The gamma-ray spectra from the decay of the GDR in the compound nucleus
reaction 18O+28Si at bombarding energy of 105 MeV have been measured in an
experiment using the EUROBALL IV and HECTOR arrays. The obtained experimental
GDR strength function is highly fragmented, with a low energy (10 MeV)
component, indicating a presence of a large deformation and Coriolis effects.
In addition, the preferential feeding of the highly-deformed band in 42Ca by
this GDR low energy component is observed.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, Proceedings of the Zakopane2004 Symposium, to be

Bessel processes, the Brownian snake and super-Brownian motion
We prove that, both for the Brownian snake and for super-Brownian motion in
dimension one, the historical path corresponding to the minimal spatial
position is a Bessel process of dimension -5. We also discuss a spine
decomposition for the Brownian snake conditioned on the minimizing path.Comment: Submitted to the special volume of S\'eminaire de Probabilit\'es in

Observation of the lowest energy gamma-ray in any superdeformed nucleus : 196Bi
New results on the superdeformed Bi nucleus a re reported. We have
observed with the EUROBALL IV -ray spectrometer array a superdeformed
trans ition of 124 keV which is the lowest observed energy -ray in any
superdeformed nucleus. We have de velopped microscopic cranked
Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations using the SLy4 effective force and a
realistic surface p airing which strongly support the

Strong Deformation Effects in Hot Rotating 46Ti
Exotic-deformation effects in 46Ti nucleus were investigated by analysing the
high-energy gamma-ray and the alpha-particle energy spectra. One of the
experiments was performed using the charged-particle multi-detector array ICARE
together with a large volume (4"x4") BGO detector. The study focused on
simultaneous measurement of light charged particles and gamma-rays in
coincidence with the evaporation residues. The experimental data show a
signature of very large deformations of the compound nucleus in the Jacobi
transition region at the highest spins. These results are compared to data from
previous experiments performed with the HECTOR array coupled to the EUROBALL
array, where it was found that the GDR strength function is highly fragmented,
strongly indicating a presence of nuclei with very large deformation.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, Proceedings of the Zakopane Conference on

Search for Fingerprints of Tetrahedral Symmetry in
Theoretical predictions suggest the presence of tetrahedral symmetry as an
explanation for the vanishing intra-band E2-transitions at the bottom of the
odd-spin negative parity band in . The present study reports on
experiment performed to address this phenomenon. It allowed to determine the
intra-band E2 transitions and branching ratios B(E2)/B(E1) of two of the
negative-parity bands in .Comment: presented by Q.T. Doan at XLII Zakopane School of Physics: Breaking

Isomeric states in No
6 pagesInternational audienceIsomeric states in 253No have been investigated by conversion-electron and gamma-ray spectroscopy with the GABRIELA detection system. The 31 micro second isomer reported more than 30 years ago is found to decay to the ground state of 253No by the emission of a 167 keV M2 transition. The spin and parity of this low-lying isomeric state are established to be 5/2+. The presence of another longer-lived isomeric state is also discussed
Binary reaction decays from 24Mg+12C
Charged particle and gamma decays in 24Mg* are investigated for excitation
energies where quasimolecular resonances appear in 12C+12C collisions. Various
theoretical predictions for the occurence of superdeformed and hyperdeformed
bands associated with resonance structures with low spin are discussed within
the measured 24Mg* excitation energy region. The inverse kinematics reaction
24Mg+12C is studied at E_lab(24Mg) = 130 MeV, an energy which enables the
population of 24Mg states decaying into 12C+12C resonant break-up states.
Exclusive data were collected with the Binary Reaction Spectrometer in
coincidence with EUROBALL IV installed at the VIVITRON Tandem facility at
Strasbourg. Specific structures with large deformation were selectively
populated in binary reactions and their associated gamma decays studied.
Coincident events associated with inelastic and alpha-transfer channels have
been selected by choosing the excitation energy or the entry point via the
two-body Q-values. The analysis of the binary reaction channels is presented
with a particular emphasis on 24Mg-gamma, 20Ne-gamma and 16O-gamma
coincidences. New information (spin and branching ratios) is deduced on
high-energy states in 24Mg and 16O, respectively.Comment: 27 pages, 8 figures, 1 tabl
