Inhibition Planktonic and Bio film Growth of Candida Albicans by Plant Extract Alone and in combination with Fluconazole

    Get PDF
This study was to evaluate the efficacy of Methanolic extract of G. superba L in combination with Fluconazole against biofilm development and mature biofilms of C. albicans. Synergism between MEGS and Fluconazole combination against biofilm formation was evident with FICI of 0.187. Combination of MEGS and Fluconazole did not have synergistic potential against mature biofilm growth, evidenced in FICI of 0.916. MIC of standard Fluconazole was found to be 0.5 and >0.5 in biofilm development and mature biofilm respectively

Even first picking, if delayed, leads to higher neps. The nep content is closely associated with the maturity ratio as defined by AFIS instrument. A study of frequency distribution indicates that neps and seed coat neps increase but their size reduces after ginning.</span

Subclinical Mastitis in Dairy Animals: Incidence, Economics, and Predisposing Factors

A study was conducted to assess the incidence and economics of subclinical form of bovine mastitis in Central Region of India. Daily milk records of 187 animals during three seasons were collected and subjected to analysis. The economic loss due to reduction in yield, clinical expenses, and additional resources used were quantified and aggregated. The losses due to mastitis in monetary terms were estimated to be INR1390 per lactation, among which around 49% was owing to loss of value from milk and 37% on account of veterinary expenses. Higher losses were observed in crossbred cows due to their high production potential that was affected during mastitis period. The cost of treating an animal was estimated to be INR509 which includes cost of medicine (31.10%) and services (5.47%). Inadequate sanitation, hygiene, and veterinary services were the main predisposing factors for incidence and spread of mastitis as perceived by the respondents

EXPERIMENTAL EXPLORATION OF ASPECT RATIO ON FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF STEEL FIBER REINFORCED GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE

The experimental study is to examine the influence of the aspect ratio on the steel fiber reinforced geopolymer Concrete Geopolymer blends were prepared with fly ash and activated alkali solution (NaOH and Na2SiO3) 0.35 ash solution. Steel fiber hook machines with a ratio of 30, 60 and 90 with a volumetric fraction of 0.0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75% and 1.0% by weight of conventional geopolymer gecko. The size of the beam of 100 mm x 100 mm x 500 mm for flexural strength tests of all samples were cured for 28 days with a different percentage of fiber and it was found that reinforced concrete reinforced concrete greatly improved resistance. It has been found that the optimal fiber content compensates for the fraction of volume of 0.75% and the aspect ratio 90 for the flexural strength of the beam. It has also been observed that an increase in fiber content at an optimum value increases the strength of the concrete

Most of the available pesticides for these pathogens suffer from various drawbacks such as complicated synthesis, high cost, high toxicity, pesticide resistance and environmental hazards. To overcome these drawbacks, the present studywas undertaken to find a potent bactericide. Therefore, a series of compounds comprising bioactive furyl and oxazolone rings was synthesized under microwave irradiation and screened for in vitro antibacterial activity. The reactions were completed in fewer than 2 minutes with minimal use of solvents and resulted in high yields. These compounds were screened for antibacterial activity against plant pathogens, Xanthomonas oryzae, Ralstonia solanacearum and nitrifying bacteria, Nitrosomonas species under laboratory conditions. Five compounds were active as antibacterial agents against Xanthomonas oryzae and Ralstonia solanacearum. However, all compounds were effective against the Nitrosomonas species and the best one was 2-furyl-4-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxybenzylidene)-5(4H)-oxazolone. The study revealed the fast and environmentally friendly synthesis of bioactive title compounds, which also hold promise to be used as prototypes for the discovery of potent analogues.ICA

Seismic Analyasis and Design of Proposed Elevated Intz Type Water Tank at Sbpcoe Indapur

Elevated water tanks are one of the most important lifeline structures in earthquake prone regions. The major cities and also in rural areas. Theelevated water tank is an integral part of water supply scheme, these structure has large mass concentrated at the top of slender supporting structures are especially vulnerable to horizontal forces due to earthquake. All over the world, the elevated water tanks were collapsed or heavily damaged during the earthquake because of unsuitable design of supporting system or wrong selection of supporting system underestimated demand or strength. So it is very important to select propersupporting system and also need to study the response of elevated Intz water tank to dynamic forces by both equivalent static or dynamic method and to find out the design parameters for seismic analysis
