    Solving two-dimensional coupled Burgers equations via a stable hybridized discontinuous Galerkin method

    The purpose of this paper is to design a fully discrete hybridized discon-tinuous Galerkin (HDG) method for solving a system of two-dimensional (2D) coupled Burgers equations over a specified spatial domain. The semi-discrete HDG method is designed for a nonlinear variational formulation on the spatial domain. By exploiting broken Sobolev approximation spaces in the HDG scheme, numerical fluxes are defined properly. It is shown that the proposed method is stable under specific mild conditions on the stabi-lization parameters to solve a well-posed (in the sense of energy method) 2D coupled Burgers equations, which is imposed by Dirichlet boundary conditions. The fully discrete HDG scheme is designed by exploiting the Crank–Nicolson method for time discretization. Also, the Newton–Raphson method that has the order of at least two is nominated for solving the obtained nonlinear system of coupled Burgers equations over the rect-angular domain. To reduce the complexity of the proposed method and the size of the linear system, we exploit the Schur complement idea. Numerical results declare that the best possible rates of convergence are achieved for approximate solutions of the 2D coupled Burgers equations and their first-order derivatives. Moreover, the proposed HDG method is examined for two other types of systems, that is, a system with high Reynolds numbers and a system with an unavailable exact solution. The acceptable results of examples show the flexibility of the proposed method in solving various problems

    Betatrophin is a member of the angiopoietin-like (ANGPTL) family that has been implicated in both triglyceride and glucose metabolism. The physiological functions and molecular targets of this protein remain largely unknown; hence, a purified available protein would aid study of the exact role of betatrophin in lipid or glucose metabolism. In this study, we cloned the full-length cDNA of betatrophin from a human liver cDNA library. Betatrophin was expressed in the pET-21b-E. coli Bl21 (DE3) system and purified by immobilized metal-affinity chromatography and ion-exchange chromatography. Circular dichroism spectroscopy revealed α-helix as the major regular secondary structure in recombinant betatrophin. The production method is based on commonly available resources; therefore, it can be readily implemented

    Classification of coastal-marine habitats in Gwatr Bay using ecological standard classification (CMECS)

    This research was conducted during 2007-2008 with the main aim of classifying marine coastal habitats in Gwatr Bay located in Iran-Pakistan border, south east of Sistan-Blaluchetan Province. We used Coastal-Marine Ecological Standard Classification (CMECS) with three data layers covering water column, benthic cover classifier and geomorphology. Layers and habitats information were analyzed in a GIS environment and the indicator species were determined. WCC classification was done based on temperature, salinity and clarity classifiers for Ichthyoplankton communities. The result showed that two main seasonal habitats including spring habitat (spring, summer and winter) and fall habitat, affected by the monsoon season is present in the area. Also we considered particle size and total organic matter in sediment as classifiers for benthic habitats which indicated two different habitats based on distances from shore. Habitats were divided into unmixed macro-benthos community (polychaete) and mixed macro-benthos community including: Polychaete, Amphipoda and Gastropoda. The habitats were shown on digital GIS maps with their specific codes

    Piecewise Tensor Product Wavelet Bases by Extensions and Approximation Rates

    Following [Studia Math., 76(2) (1983), pp. 1-58 and 95-136] by Z. Ciesielski and T. Figiel and [SIAM J. Math. Anal., 31 (1999), pp. 184-230] by W. Dahmen and R. Schneider, by the application of extension operators we construct a basis for a range of Sobolev spaces on a domain Ω \Omega from corresponding bases on subdomains that form a non-overlapping decomposition. As subdomains, we take hypercubes, or smooth parametric images of those, and equip them with tensor product wavelet bases. We prove approximation rates from the resulting piecewise tensor product basis that are independent of the spatial dimension of Ω \Omega . For two- and three-dimensional polytopes we show that the solution of Poisson type problems satisfies the required regularity condition. The dimension independent rates will be realized numerically in linear complexity by the application of the adaptive wavelet-Galerkin scheme

    Bisheh-Dalan wetland is located in southern of Broojerd city near the Tireh River with 914 hectares area.This survey was done in 2002-2003.Water temperature variation between 8 at 23/5 °C, the quantity pH between 6.5-7.4, Ec between 362-443 μm/cm, minimum-dissolved oxygen 5/5 mg/l in Bisheh-Dalan area. The phytoplankton comprised 4 families and 15 genus include (Microcystis Gloeotrehia Gloeocapsa, Merismopedia Ceratium, Glenodinium, Gymnodinium, Peridinium Closterium, Stauratrum, Treubaria, Cymbella, Cyclotella, Nitzchia, Navieula), the zooplanktons had 3 families and 10 genus, consist (Stmocephalus, Shnucephalus, Diaphanasoma, Simocephalus, Daphnia, Eueyclops, Attheylla, Cyclops, Trinema, Aeanthoeyclops) and the benthos have been had 10 orders and 15 families with names (Ecdyonuridae, Caenidae, Baetidae, Chiranomidae, Calicidae, Dytiscidae, Limmaeidae, Planorbiidae, Glossosomatidae , Tubificidae, Erpobdellidae, Planariidae, Gammaridae) in Bisheh-Dalan area. The fishes of Bisheh-Dalan wetland composed 2 family with names Cyprinidae and poeciliidae with 7 genus and 8 species. Maximum number of fishes located to Capoeta with 2 Species

    Liver cirrhosis mortality at national and provincial levels in Iran between 1990 and 2015: A meta regression analysis

    Background Liver cirrhosis mortality number has increased over the last decades. We aimed to estimate the liver cirrhosis mortality rate and its trends for the first time by sex, age, geographical distribution, and cause in Iran. Method Iranian Death Registration System, along with demographic (Complete and Summary Birth History, Maternal Age Cohort and Period methods) and statistical methods (Spatio-temporal and Gaussian process regression models) were used to address the incompleteness and misclassification and uncertainty of death registration system to estimate annual cirrhosis mortality rate. Percentages of deaths were proportionally redistributed into cirrhosis due to hepatitis B, C and alcohol use based on the data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2010 study. Results Liver cirrhosis mortality in elder patients was 12 times higher than that in younger patients at national level in 2015. Over the 26 years, liver cirrhosis mortality in males has increased more than that in females. Plus, the percentage of change in age adjusted mortality rate at provincial levels varied between decreases of 64.53 to nearly 17 increase. Mortality rate has increased until 2002 and then decreased until 2015.The province with highest mortality rate in 2015 has nearly two times greater rate compare to the lowest. More than 60 of liver cirrhosis mortality cases at national level are caused by hepatitis B and C infection. The rate of hepatitis B mortality is four times more than that from hepatitis C. Conclusion This study demonstrated an increasing and then decreasing pattern in cirrhosis mortality that could be due to national vaccination of hepatitis B program. However monitoring, early detection and treatment of risk factors of cirrhosis, mainly in high risk age groups and regions are essential. Cirrhosis mortality could be diminished by using new non-invasive methods of cirrhosis screening, hepatitis B vaccination, definite treatment of hepatitis C. © 2019 Rezaei et al.
