    Discriminación laboral en México a las personas con epilepsia. Repercusión bioética

    Objective: This paper intends to analyze the laboral problems that people with epilepsy present, recognizing the problems’ origin and the people involved in them. The national and international laws that protect this persons against this type of discrimination were also analyzed as part of the investigation. Material and methods: Multi-method quantitative and qualitative. We obtained the prevalence of type of seizure, their employment status and educational level; in the qualitative method there were applied and recorded depth interviews to three groups of patients: a) working, b) those who have worked but are currently unemployed and c) those who have never worked. Results: The questionnaire was applied to 64 subjects, of which 56 met the inclusion criteria, 53% were females; the average age is 42.5 years. In the employment status 39% are currently working, 32% unemployed and 29% have never worked. For this last group, 45% is because a disabilities and 25% because the companies not hired due to the epilepsy. Conclusions: The results of study show us that the bioethics principles of dignity, integrity and solidarity of the people with epilepsy are violated in the work environment.Objetivo: Explorar y analizar los problemas laborales que presentan las personas con epilepsia, reconocer el origen y a las personas involucradas en los mismos. Así mismo clarificar los derechos que protegen contra este tipo de discriminación a nivel nacional e internacional. Material y métodos: Estudio multimétodo, transversal que mide la prevalencia del tipo de epilepsia y su repercusión en su estado laboral y educativo. Respecto al método cualitativo, se aplicaron y grabaron entrevistas presenciales semiestructuradas, a tres tipos de pacientes: a) los que trabajan, b) los que han trabajado pero en este momento se encuentran desempleados y c) los que nunca han trabajado. Resultados: El cuestionario fue aplicado a 64 sujetos que padecen epilepsia, de los cuales 56 cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión, el 53% del sexo femenino con un promedio de edad de 42.5 años. En relación al estado laboral, 39% trabajan actualmente, 32% están desempleados y 29% no han tenido un trabajo formal. De estos últimos, el 45% (n = 7) a consecuencia de la discapacidad que presentan y el 25% no han logrado un trabajo formal debido a que las empresas se rehúsan a contratarlos. Del grupo de sujetos que se encuentran desempleados, se observa que el despido y la renuncia exigida a causa de la enfermedad son las principales causas. Conclusiónes: Los resultados manifiestan la violación de los principios de la bioética de dignidad, la integridad y la solidaridad, en relación con el trabajo para los pacientes que presentan epilepsia

    Este libro reúne a varios estudiosos de turismo y gastronomía de diferentes nacionalidades, universidades y/o instancias de educación e investigación, con el fin de reflexionar sobre las tendencias que se impulsan en estos campos del conocimiento, desde tres líneas de análisis: la acción, la gestión y la innovación Ante la exigencia respecto a que las actividades económicas y sociales que impulsan la actividad turística y gastronómica no dañen el ambiente, se promueve que éstas sean sustentables. Dichas exigencias no son nuevas, desde el 2000 a la fecha se incentivan, lo cual ha provocado transformaciones importantes que ameritan una revisión general. Así, este libro abre un espacio para la presentación de investigaciones relacionadas con el turismo y la gastronomía desde la sustentabilidad. El tema central y las tendencias del mismo evidencian la orientación que hemos querido darle al libro, puesto que ninguno de los temas es más importante que otro y el orden en el que aparecen obedece únicamente a cuestiones logísticas y didácticas. De esta manera, el libro se compone de tres apartados. El primero está dedicado a la gestión sustentable e integra cinco capítulos. El segundo apartado toca el tema de la innovación sustentable y está integrado por seis trabajos, a través de los cuales se busca generar la discusión y el debate sobre la innovación en diferentes contextos del turismo y la gastronomía. El tercer apartado del libro está dedicado a la acción sustentable y se integra por seis trabajos.UAEME
