    The death of the Spanish architect Ramón Vázquez Molezún (La Coruña, 1922 - Madrid, 1993) has made it necessary for us to reflect upon his stay in Rome (1949-1952), his constant and prolific collaboration with José Antonio Corrales beginning in 1952, his international success earned with the "Hexagonal Pavilion in the 1958 Brussels Worlds Fair", as well as his important influence in other works which are part of the History of Modern Spanish Architecture.La muerte del arquitecto español Ramón Vázquez Molezún (La Coruña, 1922 - Madrid, 1993), hace necesaria una reflexión que recuerde su estancia en Roma (1949-1952), su constante y fecunda colaboración con José Antonio Corrales desde 1952, su éxito internacional obtenido con el "Pabellón de los Hexágonos en la Exposición Universal de Bruselas 1958", así como su labor importante en otras obras que se integran ya en la Historia de la Arquitectura Moderna Española

    The critical theory in teacher training for Social Justice

    ¿Qué hacer cuando la formación del profesorado reproduce y legitima estructuras de dominación, injusticia y desigualdad? Seguramente sea esta una pregunta que nos hagamos quienes creemos que es posible articular estrategias de resistencia contrahegemónica para la justicia social dentro del campo educativo. Partiendo de la premisa de que en el contexto capitalista y neoliberal la formación del profesorado sirve a los intereses de la clase dominante y relega a un segundo plano a las subalternas, apostar por una educación para la justicia social requiere del cuestionamiento de las bases mismas de dicha formación. Unas bases que parecen cimentarse sobre la teoría tradicional empírico-instrumental que favorece tanto la reproducción del orden social hegemónico como las desigualdades e injusticias que este desarrolla. De este modo, y con la intención última de superar estos planteamientos, haremos un recorrido por algunas de las aportaciones que la teoría crítica ofrece a las ciencias sociales y que cuestionan los orígenes de la formación de profesorado actualWhat to do when teacher training reproduces and legitimizes structures of domination, injustice and inequality? Surely this is a question that we ask ourselves who believe in the possibility of articulating counterhegemonic resistance strategies for social justice. Starting from the premise that in the capitalist and neoliberal context teacher training serves the interests of the dominant class and relegates subordinates, to bet for an education for social justice necessarily requires the questioning of the foundations of this training. Bases that seem to be based on the traditional empirical-instrumental theory that favours both the reproduction of the hegemonic social order and the inequalities and injustices that this develops. In this way, and with the ultimate intention of overcoming these approaches, we will take a look at some of the contributions that critical theory offers to the social sciences and that question the origins of current teacher trainin

    Expo'92, The World Fair in Sevilla (1987-1992), held to commemorate the Fifth Centenary of Discovery of America whose slogan was The Age of Discovery, was not the first of its kind -the World Fair in Chicago (1890-1893) was also dedicated to Columbus. While the organisations differed in approach, the problems experienced were similar. This fact calls for a closer study whith this comparison in mind. The results of a study of the Expo of Sevilla, which without doubt will also be included in the History of World Fairs, are presented in this "Anuario" in order to help future researchers.La Exposición Universal de Sevilla (1987-1992), realizada para conmemorar el V Centenario del Descubrimiento de América con el lema La Era de los Descubrimientos, tuvo su precedente más inmediato en la Exposición Universal Colombina de Chicago (1890-1893). Los planteamientos diferentes de sus organizaciones, pero también la aparición de problemas semejantes, hacen deseable un enfoque que tenga en cuenta esta referencia. Un estudio balance de la Exposición de Sevilla, que sin duda se integrará también en la Historia de las Exposiciones Universales, se presenta en este "Anuario" con la intención de beneficiar a futuros investigadores

    BIM from Concept Design to Fabrication

    When an architect ideates a complex building envelope, they often rely on a façade consultancy to develop the final detailed solution of their design. The purpose of this paper is to describe a customised BIM methodology to develop complex building envelopes, evaluating the process followed to convert an architectural concept design to a fabrication reality. Over recent years, building information modelling has developed greatly in terms of architectural, structural and MEP disciplines. It conveniently advances and analyse the variables of a concept design, and furthermore, coordinates disciplines during the detailed design phases. However, when a technical approach to the envelope’s design must be implemented, we need detailed engineering tools to simulate the environmental data, and to analyse and develop the system’s fabrication features and assemblies, which are tedious to incorporate on BIM basis. This paper describes the process followed to develop and execute a building envelope project, starting with a concept design and incorporating virtual simulation processes for the solution to meet its structural and thermal requirements. The final aim is to have detailed drawings and documents of the envelope’s elements, with coordinated information for construction and fabrication purposes
