Modeling of temperature distribution in orthogonal cutting with dual-zone contact at rake face

    Get PDF
In this study, an analytical model is developed in order to calculate the temperature distribution in orthogonal cutting with dual-zone contact at the rake face. The study focuses on heat generation at the primary shear zone and at the rake face. The material behavior at the primary shear zone is represented by Johnson-Cook constitutive equation whereas the contact at the rake face is modeled by sticking and sliding friction zones. This new temperature distribution model allows obtaining the maximum temperature at the rake face and helps determining two dimensional temperature distribution in the chip. The simulation results obtained from the developed model are also compared with experimental results where good agreement is observed

EQUALITY - NOW OR NEVER: THE POLITICAL THOUGHT OF ENVER HOXHA

Students of politics know very well that Plato's perfect city in Republic is a political model of philosophico-pedagogical tyranny. For Ranciere, the political thought ofthe thinker of autocratic hierarchy, namely Plato, has much to do with what Ranciere calls the founding gesture of philosophy. In other words, since Plato, asilent majority has always been excluded from the privilege of thought and art and this has helped the construction of the implicit alliance between philosophy and there pressive order of social hierarchy. According to Ranciere, Marx, Sartre,Althusser and Bourdieu, despite their intellectual standing in the Left, are thinkers of inequality and pedagogical privilege. Each assumes, as Plato does, that the pedagogue must think for and educate those who are unable to think for themselves;only then will society change for the better. Yet, the fundamental gesture of philosophy (and even science) not only provides privileges to intellectuals but also continuously postpones the actual realization of achieving equality. If we take equality as an end rather than a presupposition or an axiomatic point of departureit would only prolong the hierarchy between "those who know" and "those who does not know". In this paper, I plan to examine Enver Hoxha's political thought from a Rancierean perspective. I mainly focus on a major concept which unifies Ranciereian thought, that being "equality"

This theoric study aims to draw a picture of midterm future by terms of socio-economic environment. While doing this, we mostly assume ‘social structure’ as dependent variable and the ‘new economy’ ( green energy and new production ) as independent variable. As known, social transformations take more time due to the human generations lifespans, according to technological or economical transformations. İn fact social factors effect economic and technological factors in long term deeply. But in this study we will be generally limited by the mids of 21. Century. According to Jeremy Rifkin, great economic transformations in history appears when a new communication technology interact with a new energy system. New communication system make it possible to organize the more complex civilization, which the new energy system created. We are discussing the socio-economic future of human life on earth; how people will distribute on geography, how they work and how governments will change into new forms of social regulators? IBM, Cisco Systems, Siemens and General Electric, are all trying to construct a smart power grid. This intelligent energy network will embrace virtually every facet of life. Homes, offices and vehicles will continuously communicate wtih each other, sharing information and energy on a 24/7 basis. How this happenings effect the social community all over the world? With other entries like the rising of transnational enterprises, the individual independence on energy acquiring, will destroy the social contracts which establishes nations. İndividuals normally gets together for creating economies of scale. Because individuals cannot build large energy plants like coal plants or nuclear plants by themselves. As a result governments become to loose their basic functional reason of existance againts citizens.

Nonlinear adaptive control of an aerial manipulation system

    Get PDF
This paper presents the nonlinear adaptive control of a quadrotor endowed with a 2 degrees of freedom (DOF) manipulator. By considering the quadrotor and the robot arm as a combined system, complete modeling of the aerial manipulation system (AMS) has been presented using the Euler-Lagrange method. A hierarchical nonlinear control scheme which consists of outer and inner control loops has been utilized. Model Reference Adaptive Controller (MRAC) is designed for the outer loop where the required command signals are generated to force the quadrotor to move on a reference trajectory in the presence of uncertainties and reaction forces coming from the manipulator. For the inner loop, the attitude dynamics of the quadrotor and the dynamics of the 2-DOF robotic arm are considered as a fully actuated 5-DOF unified part of the AMS. Nonlinear adaptive control has been utilized for the low-level controller where the changes in inertias and the masses have been tackled along with the reaction forces acting on the attitude part of the AMS. The proposed technique has been validated through simulations in two different scenarios

    Get PDF
Structural Equation Modeling is a statistical method increasingly used in scientific studies in the fields of Social Sciences. It is currently a preferred analysis method, especially in doctoral dissertations and academic researches. However, since many universities do not include this method in the curriculum of undergraduate and graduate courses, students and scholars try to solve the problems they encounter by using various books and internet resources. This book aims to guide the researcher who wants to use this method in a way that is free from math expressions. It teaches the steps of a research program using structured equality modeling practically. For students writing theses and scholars preparing academic articles, this book aims to analyze systematically the methodology of scientific studies conducted using structural equation modeling methods in the social sciences. This book is prepared in as simple language as possible so as to convey basic information. It consists of two parts: the first gives basic concepts of structural equation modeling, and the second gives examples of applications.https://digitalcommons.unl.edu/zeabook/1064/thumbnail.jp

    Get PDF
Purpose of the Study: The main objective of this paper is to describe the multidimensionality of supply chain risk and evaluate supply chain risk management in association with logistics performance and innovation performance.   Theoretical framework: No study was found that analyzes the impact of supply chain risk management on logistics performance and innovation performance in the literature review. The purpose of this study is to close this gap in the existing literature.   Design/methodology/approach: This study leverages a data set of 30 medium-sized technology firms in Turkey. The first part of the analysis aims at finding determinants of supply chain risk management, and the second part is the analysis of supply chain risk management, innovation performance, and logistics performance. Structural equation modeling multivariate statistical technique is chosen.   Findings: Consequently, it empirically proves that risk mitigation and risk control affect positively innovation performance. It concludes that only risk control is effective in increasing logistics performance. Moreover, it estimates that risk identification and risk assessment will have a significant regulatory effect on performance. However, this study explains that they don't have a positive effect on the results.   Research, Practical & Social implications: Research gaps and opportunities are presented to lead further studies about supply chain risks in different sectors. This paper is hopefully purposed to contribute to sector representatives as a guide.   Originality/value: This study contributes to our understanding of how and with whom to collaborate by highlighting the relationships among supply chain risk management, innovation performance, and logistics performance

A Brand-New Definition of Management under the Rule of Robots

Do you want your fate to be determined by a person who moves with the feeling, probably makes irrational decisions or is self-interested; or by an artificial intelligence that will always give priority to the common interests of the stakeholders in their decisions? The artificial intelligence applications developed to manifest human-like behaviours are expected to reach above the human level. It is only a matter of time. Therefore, the definition of management will eventually evolve. This paper discusses and suggests the elements that are required to be included in the new definition of management. Since the definition of future management is a challenging and disputed task, this paper aims to pave the way for a perfect definition of management that belongs to the age of artificial intelligence. As a result, in the perspective of evolution of human consciousness and emergence of management, and also considering the continuation of the evolution in inorganic domain, a new definition of management was suggested

In this study, control samples of pine (Pinus slyvestris L.), beech (Fagus orientalis L.) and oak (Quercus petreae L.) species were obtained by using fi ber reinforced finger corner joints. Teknobont 200 epoxy and polyvinyl (PVAc) adhesives were used as glue. Bearing in mind the critical loads that may affect their use, experimental samples were tested under diagonal loads. Experimental samples were also analyzed by a computer program using the finite element method (FEM). Finally, experimental data were compared with the results of FEM. The comparisons clearly showed that experimental results and finite element solutions (SAP2000 V17) including semi-rigid connections are in good agreement. As a structural analysis program in furniture engineering designs, FEM can be preferred in terms of reliability and cost.U radu se prikazuju rezultati istraživanja uzoraka borovine (Pinus slyvestris L.), bukovine (Fagus orientalis L.) i hrastovine (Quercus petreae L.) spojenih kutnim zupčastim spojevima i ojačanih vlaknima.
