    Get PDF
A checklist of the Hydraenidae recorded from Turkey is presented. The checklist includes data on the distribution and relevant references for 210 species/subspecies: two Aulacochthebius Leach, 113 Hydraena Kugelann, 21 Limnebius Leach, and 74 Ochthebius Leach. On the basis of their current distribution, the established 210 species/subspecies can be classified into 28 zoogeographical categories, grouped into six complexes. The largest number of species belongs to the group of Turkey endemics (49.05 %), which reflects the local character of the fauna. Copyright © 2011 · Magnolia Press

Ayrıca tespit edilen türlerden Hydrochara major İncekara, Mart, Polat & Karaca, 2009 türünün dişisi ilk kez bu çalışma ile kaydedilmiştir.9422 specimens belonging to the order Coleoptera were collected by area studies between April-September in 2007-2009 in provinces of Afyon, Denizli, Kütahya and Uşak locate in Inner Western Anatolia of Turkey. As a result of identification of these specimens, 145 species group taxa (139 species and 6 subspecies) of 45 genera of 7 families belong to the order Coleoptera were determined. Some of these determined species, one genus and 11 species were new records from Turkey. These are: Chasmogenus and Haliplus laminatus (Schaller, 1783), Agabus striolatus (Gyllenhal, 1808), Ilybius ater (De Geer, 1774), Rhantus grapii (Gyllenhal, 1808), Graphoderus austriacus (Sturm, 1834), Hydaticus seminiger (DeGeer, 1774), Hydroporus angustatus Sturm, 1835, Hydrochus elongatus (Schaller, 1783), Chasmogenus livornicus (Kuwert, 1890), Enochrus halophilus (Bedel, 1878), Enochrus politus (Küster, 1849). Also four species are cited first with exact localities for the country. Two families, 20 genera and 90 species were recorded from the research area for the first time. The female of Hydrochara major İncekara, Mart, Polat & Karaca, 2009 has been recorded for the first time

Combined evaluation of multi-biomarkers and metal bioaccumulations in two different fish species (Sparus aurata and Chelon labrosus) from İzmir Bay, Türkiye (Aegean Sea): Spatial, temporal and tissue-specific approaches

    No full text
Biomarkers were investigated to assess the effects of metal accumulation in Sparus aurata and Chelon labrosus in the İzmir Bay. Fish were collected from the Inner and Outer Bays in November 2020 and May 2021. According to the metal and biomarker measurements found in the organs, it was observed that the levels were higher in the liver and gill tissues than in the muscle tissues. Significant differences between tissues were found for all metals and biomarkers. In addition, biochemical biomarkers were found to be significant predictors of metal bioaccumulation. Histological changes were observed in liver and gills in each species and location. Although the metal levels determined according to the health risk assessment were below the threshold limits, the As levels for the lifetime cancer risk were within the limits to be considered. In conclusion, this study will provide robust results for its related study area

Assessment of trace metals concentrations in zooplankton from the Edremit Bay (Northeastern Aegean Sea, Türkiye)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the temporal (April & November, 2015) and spatial (point stations & transect lines) status of metal concentrations in zooplankton from the Edremit Bay, Aegean Sea, as well as utilization of zooplankton as a bio-indicator for metal pollution in the study area. The samples were freeze-dried and analyzed in atomic absorption spectrometers. Metal concentrations in zooplankton ranged between Hg:0.30–0.13, Cd:0.51-13.6, Pb:7.76-2364, Cr:3.50-80.4, Cu:9.52-149, Zn:383-4894, Mn:24.3-723 and Fe:1502-130652 mg kg −1 dry weight. The mean concentration of metals decreased in the order of Fe > Zn > Pb > Mn>Cu > Cr > Cd > Hg. Mean metal concentrations were higher at point stations compared to transects sampling lines. Metal Pollution Index (MPI) values in the spring were higher than in the autumn. The highest MPI values were found at the southern and eastern coasts of the bay in the spring which could be related to increased metabolic activity, growth, and food uptake in spring season. The high accumulation degrees of metals in zooplankton could be related to presence of mining sites, industrial facilities, wind-driven currents, and streams in Edremit Bay. This study provides a valuable information for further researches on bioaccumulation of metals by zooplankton in the Aegean Sea

WOS: 000385363500005PubMed: 27853408The mayfly fauna of Turkey was reviewed including all hitherto known distribution records together with references and a few new records. Additionally, comments on taxonomy, identification and nomenclature are provided. Two species are new for the Turkish fauna: Ephemera romantzovi Kluge, 1988 and Thraulus thraker Jacob, 1988. A list of taxa including their recorded distribution in Turkey (according to provinces) is provided in the annotated catalogue. The type locality is also given for each species originally described from Turkey. According to the literature and the new records, 157 mayfly taxa representing 33 genera and 14 families were described from Turkey. Among them, 24 species are considered endemic to Anatolia
