    Novel parameter estimation schemes in microsystems

    This paper presents two novel estimation methods that are designed to enhance our ability of observing, positioning, and physically transforming the objects and/or biological structures in micromanipulation tasks. In order to effectively monitor and position the microobjects, an online calibration method with submicron precision via a recursive least square solution is presented. To provide the adequate information to manipulate the biological structures without damaging the cell or tissue during an injection, a nonlinear spring-mass-damper model is introduced and mechanical properties of a zebrafish embryo are obtained. These two methods are validated on a microassembly workstation and the results are evaluated quantitatively

    Analysis of the Works in the 10Th Grade Individual Voice Education Texbook of the Arts High School

    DergiPark: 787046bmsdIn the study, examining the works in the “Fine Arts High School Individual Sound Education 10th Grade” text book published in 2019 by Ministry of National Education in terms of genre, mode/tone, tonerange, method/measure structure, verbal content analysis and presenting the current situation is intended. The relevant book was used as a source. The sample of the study consists of 31 works in the Fine Arts High School Individual Voice Education 10th grade textbook 31 works in the book have been examined, analyzed and tabulated. It was observed that the studied work scinsisted of four different genres, and the tonality of Hüseyni, Hicaz, Nihavent, Buselik and F Majör, D Majör, Mi Bemol Majör and D Minör tonalities were used in the works. When examined in terms of method and measure, it was determined that the methods used in Folk Songs and Turkish Art Music varied, and simple and combined measures are used in marches and foreing works. Content analysis was also made for the verbal structure of the works. Considering the sound ranges of the works, it is thought that the sound range of Turkish Art Music Works and marches is wide and it is not suitable for young people of that age group because it will be difficult toread.Yapılan bu çalışmada, MEB tarafından hazırlanan 2019 yılında baskısı yapılan “Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi Bireysel Ses Eğitimi 10. Sınıf” isimli ders kitabında yer alan tür, makam/ton, ses aralığı, usul/ ölçü yapısı, sözel içerik analizi yönünden incelenmesi ve mevcut durumun ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Kaynak olarak ilgili kitap kullanılmıştır.Araştırmada doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi Bireysel Ses Eğitimi 10. Sınıf ders kitabında bulunan 31 eser oluşturmaktadır. Kitapta yer alan 31 eser incelenmiş, analiz edilmiş ve tablolaştırılmıştır. İncelenen eserlerin dört ayrı türden oluştuğu, Hüseyni, Hicaz Nihavent, Buselik makamlarında türkü ve şarkıların ve Fa Majör, Re Majör, Mi Bemol Majör, Re Minör tonalitelerinin kullanıldığı görülmüştür. Usul ve ölçü bakımından incelendiğinde Halk Türkülerinde ve TSM eserlerinde kullanılan usullerin çeşitlilik gösterdiği, Marşlarda ve yabancı eserlerde ise basit ve birleşik ölçülerin kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Eserlerin ses aralıklarına bakıldığında TSM eserlerinin ve marşların ses aralığı olarak geniş olduğu, o yaş grubu gençlerin okumasının zor olacağı için uygun olmadığı düşünülmektedir. Eserlerin sözel yapısı için de içerik analizi yapılmıştır

    Effect of waist circumference and body mass index on the level of spinal anesthesia

    Background: We aimed to determine the effects of waist circumference and body mass index on spinal anesthesia levels. In total, 120 surgical patients who were between 18 and 65 years old and in the American Society of Anesthesiologists' (ASA) I-III risk groups enrolled in this study. Patients were classified into three groups, depending on their weight. After a spinal block, we noted the time needed for the sensory block to reach the T10 level, the maximum sensory block level, the time needed for the sensory block to reach the maximum sensory block level, the time needed before the start of the motor block, and the Bromage scale for each patient. Results: We observed no significant demographic differences in age, gender, or ASA risk class between the groups; however, we found a statistically significant difference between the groups' BMIs and waist circumferences. For the time needed for the spinal block to reach the T10 level, we observed a statistically significant difference between groups I, II, and III, and we also found a statistically significant difference between the groups' comparing Bromage scales. Moreover, we found a statistically significant difference between the groups' time needed (in minutes) for the block to reach the maximal upper dermatomal block level and, as BMIs and waist circumferences increased, the time needed to reach the maximal upper dermatomal block level. We also noted a statistically significant difference in waist circumference variability. Conclusions: This study shows that body mass index and waist circumference can be used and interpreted as independent parameters reflecting the increasing incidence of obesity

    Bu çalışma, buğday hasadı sonrasında ikinci ürün olarak yetiştirilen pamukta (Gossypium hirsutum L.), farklı ekim zamanlarının, pamuğun bazı erkencilik ve agronomik özellikleri üzerine etkisinin saptanması amacıyla, 2012 yılında Aydın koşullarında yapılmıştır. Çalışmada materyal olarak erkenci olgunlaşma grubuna ait 10 pamuk çeşidi/hattı (Özbek 100, Özbek 105, Cosmos, ST373, Flash, Flora, Gloria, Julia, Famosa çeşitleri ve ADÜ Erkenci hattı) kullanılmıştır. Ekim, 1 Haziran ve 15 Haziran tarihlerinde yapılmak üzere deneme, iki faktörlü tesadüf blokları deneme desenine göre üç tekerrürlü olarak kurulmuştur. Çalışmada, ilk taraklanma tarihi, ilk çiçeklenme tarihi, ilk koza açma tarihi, erkencilik oranı (ilk el kütlü oranı), bitki boyu, odun ve meyve dalı sayıları ile kütlü pamuk verimi incelenmiştir. Ekimin gecikmesiyle bitki boyu, odun dalı, meyve dalı sayıları ve kütlü pamuk veriminin önemli oranda azaldığı; taraklanmanın daha erken olduğu, çiçeklenmenin ise önemli oranda geciktiği saptanmıştır. Verim yönünden çeşitler arasında önemli farklılık olmamasına karşın, en iyi performansı Cosmos, ST373, Gloria ve Famosa çeşitleri ile ADÜ Erkenci hattı göstermiştir.This study was conducted in to determine the effects of different sowing dates on some boll and technological properties of cotton grown under wheat/cotton doubled crop in Aydın in 2012. In this study, as the material, 10 cotton varieties/lines ( Ozbek 100, Ozbek 105, Cosmos, ST373, Flash, Flora, Gloria, Julia, Fomosa, varieties and ADÜ Pure Line) which belong to earliest group have been used. On 1 June and 15 June; the trail, according to the randomized complete block design with two factors, has been established as three replications. In this study eight features were investigated; date of first squaring , date of first flowering, date of first boll opening, earliness rate (first harvesting date), plant height, number of monopodial branch, number of sympodial branch and seed cotton yield. As a result of the delay in sowing, it is observed that there is a considerable decrease in plant height, number of monopodial branch, number of sympodial branch and seed cotton yield; that squaring is earlier, that flowering is delayed significantly in considerable amount. Although here was a significant difference among the varieties in terms of efficiency, ADÜ Pure Line shows the best performance with the varieties of Cosmos,ST 373, Gloria and Famosa

In this study, eight characteristics were examined; number of the cocoons, weight of the cotton cocoon, ginning yield, 100 seed weight, length of the fibre, thinness of the fibre, durability of the fibre against rupture and maturity of the fibre. While, the number of the cocoons, the weight of the cotton cocoon and the thinness of the fibre is effected by the delay of cultivation; the ginning yield, 100 seed weight, the length of the fibre, the durability of the fibre against rupture and maturity of the fibre is not. It was observed that, the number of the cocoons and the weight of the cotton cocoon, decreased substantially and thinner fibres were formed, due to the delay of plantation

    Postoperative pain intensity after using different instrumentation techniques: a randomized clinical study

    Postoperative pain is a frequent complication associated with root canal treatment, especially during apical instrumentation of tooth with preexisting periradicular inflammation Objectives The aim of this clinical study was to evaluate the influence of the instrumentation techniques on the incidence and intensity of postoperative pain in single-visit root canal treatment. Material and Methods Ninety patients with single root/canal and non-vital pulps were included. The patients were assigned into 3 groups according to root canal instrumentation technique used; modified step-back, reciprocal, and rotational techniques. Root canal treatment was carried out in a single visit and the severity of postoperative pain was assessed via 4-point pain intensity scale. All the participants were called through the phone at 12, 24 and 48 h to obtain the pain scores. Data were analyzed through the Kruskal–Wallis test.     A Salmonella ovarian abscess is a rare entity, and is similarly uncommon in cases with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. To the best of our knowledge, thirty four cases of Salmonella ovarian abscess have been published in the literature, and only four of them were related to Systemic Lupus Eritematosus. Bu çalısmada, bir ĐHA için kontrol algoritmalarının test edilebileceği bir düzeneğin tasarım ve üretimi anlatılmıstır.     Isolated Small Bowel Transplantation in Turkey: A Single Center Experience Running Title: Isolated Small Bowel Transplantation in Turkey

    Background SBTx has become a feasible therapeutic option for patients with irreversible intestinal failure. Increase in the number and in the improvement of the patient and graft survival in SBTx has a slow course when compared to other solid organ transplantation. Aim The aim of this study is to analyze 25 isolated SBTx performed since 2003 at a single center. It also aims to compare the patient and graft survivals rate during the early (before 2010) and late (after 2010) period. Materials and Methods Medical charts of 24 patients were analyzed retrospectively. To compare the center’s experience during a twelve year period, the results were divided into two groups (before (n:7) and after 2010 (n:18)). At the appropriate time, data were reported as mean± standard deviation, median, and range. Kaplan Meier method was used for the survival analysis of the graft and the patients. Results Median age of the patients was 39 (min 6 months, max: 56 yr). Six of them were in the pediatric age group. Compared to before 2010, graft survival rates increased from 28.1% to 53.8% in 3 months, from 28.6% to 35.9% in 6 months, and from 14.3% to 29.9% in one year after 2010. At the same period, patient survival rate increased from 57.1% to 72.2% in 3 months, from 28.6% to 38.9% in 6 months, and from 14.3% to 33.3% in one year. In the pediatric age group, patient and graft survival rates were 85.7% in 3 months, 71.4% in 6 months, and 71.4 % in 1 year. Conclusion SBTx is an effective treatment choice for selected patients with intestinal failure. Although patient and graft survival rates were improved after 2010 in our center, it was inferior.
