Perkembangan dan pemanfaatan zat-zat kimia yang tanpa kendali, menyebabkan tubuh manusia terkontaminasi oleh sejumlah besar zat kimia sintetis hasil industrialisasi, banyak diantaranya telah diketahui bersifat racun dan penyebab kanker. Zat-zat tersebut masuk ke tubuh manusia melalui produk yang tidak disebutkan sebagai komponen penyusun atau ingredients pada produk-produk makanan atau aditif, makanan yang terkontaminasi zat kimia, udara, air dan debu. Bahkan, janin yang tumbuh di perut ibu juga sudah terpapar langsung oleh zat kimia melalui makanan dan obat-obatan yang dikonsumsi oleh ibu. Pada akhirnya banyak zat kimia yang masuk ke rantai makanan dan tersirkulasi ke seluruh dunia. Telah terbukti bahwa pestisida yang digunakan di daerah tropis ternyata sudah umum ditemukan di Artika (wilayah di Kutub Utara) sekarang (Clark, 2005). Responding to The Demand of 21st Century Teaching and Learning: the Case of Higher Eduction in Indonesia

The world over experiences constant changes affecting al aspects of our lives in this 21st century. The wind of changes already force major impact in our work and daily life. It is observed that the most sensitive and responsive to the forces of change are national governments, businesses, and industries which have to keep up to the changes to be able to survive and made reasonable profits. All aspects of education systems must thus respond to the demand of providing human resources that can adapt and adept to the necessary changes to ensure any nation survival and competitivenes. The focus of this paper is higher education system in Indonesia, which have to respond appropriately to meet the challenges of 21st Century. How the government of Indonesia responds to the demand to reform the higher education system and to consider the open and distance teaching and learning delivery will be described in this paper. Mainly it will discribe the experiments of utilizing information communication and technology to deliver teaching and learning activities for the teacher or faculty development and for students replacing parts of face to face interaction in the effort to reach as many participants as possible from all over the Indonesia archipleago or the Southeast Asian region. Dampak Kimia Usaha Pencucian Kendaraan Bermotor

Makalah ini akan menguraikan hasil studi literatur mengenai usaha pencucian motor dan mobil yang banyak terdapat di kota-kota besar di Indonesia. Banyaknya usaha ini yang bertebaran sampai di kampung-kampung terlihat mengambil air tanah untuk kegiatan pencucian dan mengalirkan air bekas cucian ke sistem drainage yang ada di sekitar tempat usaha tersebut. Usaha ini menghasilkan limbah yang berbentuk larutan detergen dan minyak pelumas hasil kebocoran kendaraan bermotor yang dicuci yang mengalir ke sistem air limbah atau got dan akan terus mengalir ke badan air di sungai di sekitar tempat itu atau malah sampai ke laut. Apa dampak zat-zat kimia tersebut terhadap lingkungan air dan lingkungan yang menggunakan air terkontaminasi itu, dan apa saja yang telah dilakukan untuk mengatasi dampak kimia yang merusak itu, akan diuraikan dalam makalah ini. EVALUATION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF OFFICE365 PROGRAM FOR ONLINE TUTORIAL DELIVERY OF A COLLEGE MATHEMATICS COURSE

This study is intended to improve the distance learning online tutorial services for students who participate in online tutorial offered by Universitas Terbuka (UT), specifically courses offered by Department of Mathematics, School of Mathematics and Natural Science. Since 2013 UT has offered the online tutorial services that integrate the Office365 program and the Learning Management System MOODLE. Office365 program can support the distance learning activities, for example the availability of digital interactive whiteboard and webinar can support synchronous interactions between students and tutor. These two features of Office365 can facilitate the explanation of mathematical concepts, equations, and symbols which are not supported by MOODLE. The Mathematics department adds the graphic tablet which is connected to the PC or laptop for the tutor to better utilized the digital interactive whiteboard feature. This study utilizes a research and development approach especially the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) model in developing the improved online tutorial program. The aim of this study is to apply the features of Office365 in line with the MOODLE system. The two programs are observed when offered the online tutorial of Introductory to Mathematic course. The result of the evaluation of the trial is that for the webinar and the interactive whiteboard features, students say that they are beneficial to them in getting the explanation about introductory mathematics concepts. However, the obstacle to utilize the program smoothly is internet connection that is up and down, and the limit time of the webinar. In the future the webinar time will be increase to 4 times instead of three times, on Saturdays or Sundays in the two months of the online tutorial. Upaya Perbaikan Bantuan Belajar untuk Mata Kuliah Kimia Organik 3 - PEKI 4416

Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mencari cara memberikan bantuan belajar dalam jaringan (online) atau tutorial online/tuton untuk mata kuliah Kimia pada umumnya dan Kimia Organik 3 pada khususnya. Pada masa registrasi 2012.2 telah dilaksanakan tuton untuk mata kuliah Kimia Organik 3. Kinerja mahasiswa, yang berpartisipasi dalam tuton ini dan mendapatkan nilai tuton yang cukup baik, namun demikian nilai ujian akhir semester (UAS) untuk mata kuliah ini ternyata tidak memuaskan. Melalui penelitian ini telah didapatkan data mengenai kesulitan mahasiswa mempelajari buku materi pokok (BMP) Kimia Organik3 dan teknik menguasai materi Kimia Organik 3. Metodologi yang diterapkan adalah gabungan antara survei untuk mendapatkan data mengenai bagian BMP yang menurut mahasiswa dan dosen dirasakan sulit difahami, dan analisis pustaka mengenai strategi mempelajari materi seperti Kimia Organik 3. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada masa registrasi 2013.1 dan 2013.2. Penelitian ini melibatkan para mahasiswa, dan nara sumber pengajar Kimia Organik 3 dari Program Studi Kimia Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, untukmendapatkan berbagai data yang akan dimanfaatkan dalam perbaikan tuton ini yang akan dilakukan pada 2014.1 dan 2014.2 yang akan datang. Selanjutnya akan dilihat bagaimana pengaruhnya terhadap kinerja mahasiswa dalam UAS pada masa registrasi dan ujian 2014.1 dan 2014.2.
