    Synthesis of Novel Cyclobutane Nucleoside Analogues

    A synthesis of cyclobutane nucleosides is described. The method involved the triflation of a -hydroxymethyl-cyclobutanone and its subsequent displacement by a 6-chloropurinyl anion to generate N-7 and N-9 regioisomers. The stereoselective reduction of the N-alkylated ketones yielded the cis-alcohols quantitatively and the geometric configuration was confirmed by spectroscopic data and X-ray diffraction. Photolysis of N-7 and N-9 coupled ketones was carried out in methanol using quartz tubes to promote ring-expansion isonucleoside products. Photolysis did not yield any ring-expansion or cycloelimination products, rather, the products are suspected to be cyclopropanes from decarbonylation of the ketones, since these are less polar and show shielding of protons in their corresponding NMR spectra, consistent with substituted cyclopropanes

    Effect of COVID-19 Fear on Worker’s Well-being: A Hope Intervention Approach for Services Sector

    The current study has investigated the mechanism of COVID-19 deteriorating workplace well-being. The study detemines that people confronting a surge in fear of COVID-19 start losing hope resulting in damaged well-being. The workplace well-being scale as developed by Bartels et al., (2019) was amended to meet the requirements of the current context. Hence, the authors added a phrase before items (during current COVID-19, and remote working need) to relate the scale with the current study. The study found a significant relationship between fear of coronavirus and the workplace well-being of remote workers. A significant mediation was observed through the hope construct. Hence, established that COVID-19 is damaging workplace well-being. The study also has certain limitations, as COVID-19 is a recent pandemic not much literature is present to support the phenomenon. Future researchers might go for a greater data set for generalizing the phenomenon. A cross-country analysis could present great insights into the model. It is a timely decision for policymakers, politicians, managers, academicians, and practitioners to devise strategies to control the phenomenon

    Impact of Crew Training and Safety Management System on Operational Management in Aviation Industry of Pakistan

    Aviation plays a fundamental role in the growth of trade, tourism, economy as well as sustainable development in Pakistan. The two main influential factors Crew Training and Safety Management impacting operations of Engineering Management was found on the basis of literature and analyzed. Primarily, the numerous organizations training methodologies to get their crew staff training was collected from both primary sources that’s questionnaire instrument and secondary sources which is Literature. The reliability and validity of the instrument was tested with the help of Cronbach Alpha and the survey questionnaire was distributed to obtain primary data. The used Non-Probability Sampling technique analyzed thru Statistical Package for Social Sciences software. It was revealed that both the variables i-e Crew Training and Safety Management have a significant impact on improving aviation operational management. Therefore, the management should take remedial measures to work out on Crew Training and Safety Management factors that may augment aviation operational management according to latest National Aviation Policy 2019

    EFFECT OF DIFFERENT SOLVENTS ON THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND ANTI-DIABETIC ACTIVITY OF ACACIA ARABICA AND ZIZYPHUS MAURITIANA

    The current study was designed to investigate the effect of solvents on chemical composition and antidiabetic activity of Zizyphus mauritiana and Acacia Arabica extracts. Total five solvents were used for this purpose (100% methanol, 50% aqueous methanol, 100% ethanol, 50% aqueous ethanol and aqueous). The data obtained from the investigation was subjected to the statistical analysis by using analysis of variance technique. The present study revealed that maximum antioxidant activity was attributed to Acacia arabica (96.53 ± 0.46%) followed by Zizyphus mauritiana (94.33 ± 0.52% by 50% aqueous ethanol extracts). Maximum total phenolic content of both Zizyphus mauritiana and Acacia arabica (670.83 ± 1.46 mg GAE/100g and 934.34 ± 0.89 mg GAE/100g) were shown by 50% aqueous ethanol extracts while maximum total flavonoid content (146.36 ± 0.81 mg QE/100 g, 172.52 ± 0.99 mg QE/100 g) was exhibited by 50% aqueous ethanol extract. The maximum (IC 50= 49.63 ± 0.12 µg/mL) antidiabetic activity was found in aqueous extract of Acacia arabica while in Zizyphus mauritiana the aqueous extract indicated excellent (IC 50= 46.90 ± 0.23 µg/mL) antidiabetic activity

The purpose of this research is to scan PRESSAC’s internal and external environment in order to develop a better understanding of where PRESSAC stands, and attempt to identify opportunities PRESSAC can benefit from. The second major aspect of this research is to understand the positive role that business-to-business (B2B) branding and B2B relationship marketing can play for PRESSAC. The literature acknowledges the need for B2B organizations to have robust and coherent brands if they are to operate successfully. The role of creating, building, and maintaining relationships with its business partners also possess benefits that are widely recognized. For the purpose of this research, a qualitative research approach has been opted for. Secondary data represents the largest and the most important data source for this research. A few supplementary interviews were conducted with both internal and external contacts in order to gain some additional insight and obtain company specific information. These supplementary interviews have been analyzed and discussed by dividing them into different themes. Finally, the concluding thoughts of this research discuss key findings and limitations, but most importantly, present the recommendations for PRESSAC

    Determination of the anti-diabetic effect of methanolic extract of Sphaeranthus indicus L. on alloxan induced diabetic rabbits

    The aim of present study was to determine the anti-diabetic effect of methanolic extract of Sphaeranthus indicus L. (SMe) in alloxan induced diabetic rabbits. It was further aimed to determine the effect of SMe on various biochemical parameters, namely blood glucose levels, total cholesterol, lipoproteins (HDL and LDL), liver functions (SGOT and SGPT), serum creatinine and urea level in alloxan induced diabetic rabbits. Rabbits were divided into five groups: one non-diabetic control, treated with vehicle and four experimental (diabetic) groups. The experimental groups can be described as diabetic negative control, treated with vehicle, diabetic positive control, treated with 80 mg/kg of diamicron, a reference drug; and diabetic treated with 150 or 300 mg/kg of SMe. Pre- and post-experimental lipid profile, liver function and kidney function of rabbits was determined.     Food additives are not recently discovered, humans used food additives from ancient times.These food additives enhance the color and taste of food but also, kill harmful pathogens andkeep food safe for a long time. Ancient people used salting, smoking, jugging and many moretechniques to preserve food but in modern times, lifestyles changed, and people used advancedtechniques like ultra-sonication, vacuum packing, electro plasmolysis, bio preservation,nanotechnology, etc. There are many natural compounds extracted from plants like caffeine,anthocyanin, turmeric, saffron used as food additives. Similarly, many synthetic additives canbe used in food for example ampicillin, benzoic acid, tetrazine and many more. These syntheticadditives are more dangerous as compared to natural additives; therefore, many additives arebanned in the world. These additives are given E codes (European union numbers) and INS(International numbering system of food), but E code is used more commonly and labelled onall food items like chips, biscuit, pharmaceutics, cosmetics etc. In this review, we summarizesome traditional and modern food preservation techniques and give some most commonly usedfood additives with E codes

    Correlation analysis of vital signs to monitor disease risks in ubiquitous healthcare system

    Healthcare systems for chronic diseases demand continuous monitoring of physiological parameters or vital signs of the patients’ body. Through these vital signs’ information, healthcare experts attempt to diagnose the behavior of a disease. Identifying the relationship between these vital signs is still a big question for the research community. We have proposed a sophisticated way to identify the affiliations between vital signs of three specific diseases i.e., Sepsis, Sleep Apnea, and Intradialytic Hypotension (IDH) through Pearson statistical correlation analysis. Vital signs data of about 32 patients were taken for analysis. Experimental results show significant affiliations of vital signs of Sepsis and IDH with average correlation coefficient of 0.9 and 0.58, respectively. The stability of the mentioned correlation is about 75% and 90%, respectively
