    Practices and Challenges of Supply Chain Management between Eu and Nigeria: A Research on International Trade

The study used pure qualitative approach using secondary data from the national database and various sources for the period of 2007 to 2018.The research provides an overall view of how the practices of logistics and supply chain from two distinct part of the globe (Nigeria and the EU) are assessed and identifies the components included and how it affects the foreign trade between both parties. The research aims to find out the factors and attributes that lead to efficient logistics management and supply chain practices that will affect the performance of organizations and improve trade between Nigeria and the EU.The topics consist of Introduction, general idea about supply chain management, the general information about Nigeria and its international trade, the current overview of the EU and its international trade with West Africa precisely Nigeria. Lastly, recommendations are suggested so as to help enable improvement and growth in the sector of (Foreign) trade for Nigeria through effective management of logistics

    IoT Tabanlı Enstrümantasyon Sistemi ile Farklı Frekansların Kurşun Asit Akülerin Desülfasyonu Üzerine Etkilerinin İncelenmesi

    Bu çalışmada, Kurşun asit (KA) akülerde sıklıkla rastlanan sülfatlanma sorununun çözümüne odaklanılmış, nesnelerin interneti (IoT) tabanlı enstrümantasyon devreleri kullanılarak, farklı frekanslardaki gerilim darbelerinin KA akülerin desülfasyonu üzerindeki etkileri deneysel olarak incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla, eşit koşullarda sülfatlandırılmış dört özdeş akü, farklı frekanslarda gerilim darbeleri ve DC gerilim uygulanarak şarj edilmiş, akü parametrelerindeki değişimler analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda akülerin yüke akım aktarabilme kapasitelerindeki düşüşün, DC gerilim ile şarj edilen aküde yüksek oranda, farklı frekanstaki gerilim darbeleriyle şarj edilen akülerde ise nispeten daha düşük oranda olduğu görülmüştür. Buna göre, yüksek frekanslı gerilim darbeleriyle desülfasyon işleminin, sülfatlanmış bir aküyü olumlu şekilde etkilediği görülmüştür

    Evaluation of YouTube Videos Quality of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Anesthesia

    Introduction:To evaluate the quality of YouTube videos on pediatric cardiac surgery anesthesia (PCSA).Methods:The keywords including, “PCSA”, “pediatric cardiac surgery”, and “pediatric anesthesia” were browsed on YouTube between January 1st, 2023 and January 10th, 2023. Video characteristics were recorded. The modified DISCERN instrument, the Global Quality Score (GQS), and the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool (PEMAT) were used to evaluate the quality of the videos. The videos were divided into two groups as professionals (doctor, nurse, hospital, etc.) and non-professional (patient, non-health institutions, etc.) according to the upload source.Results:A total 82 of the videos were included in the study. Fifty-six (68.3%) videos were uploaded by professional sources and 26 (31.7%) were by non-professional sources. Statistically, the average like of the videos uploaded by professional sources were significantly higher (64.0 and 29.0, p=0.005). The average number of comments on professionally sourced videos was 46.0, and it was 30.0 for non-professional videos (p=0.015). The GQS was 3.7±1.0 for professional videos and 2.2±0.8 for non-professional videos (p=0.001). The Modified DISCERN score was found to be significantly higher in the professional videos (p=0.001). The PEMAT score was above 70% in 50 (89.3%) videos in the professional video group and 12 (46.1%) videos in the non-professional video group (p=0.001).Conclusion:Our findings revealed that professional videos about PCSA had significantly higher “likes” number and comments rate and YouTube videos about PCSA, which were shared by professional healthcare providers had significantly higher modified DISCERN score, GQS, and PEMAT score

    HYBRID APPROXIMATION METHOD FOR TIME RESPONSE IMPROVEMENT OF CFE BASED APPROXIMATE FRACTIONAL ORDER DERIVATIVE MODELS BY USING GRADIENT DESCENT ALGORITHM

    Due to its high computational complexity, fractional order (FO) derivative operators have been widely implemented by using rational transfer function approximation methods. Since these methods commonly utilize frequency domain approximation techniques, their time responses may not be prominent for time-domain solutions. Therefore, time response improvements for the approximate FO derivative models can contribute to real-world performance of FO applications. Recent works address the hybrid use of popular frequency-domain approximation methods and time-domain approximation methods to deal with time response performance problems. In this context, this study presents a hybrid approach that implements Continued Fraction Expansion (CFE) method as frequency domain approximation and applies the gradient descent optimization (GDO) for step response improvement of the CFE-based approximate model of FO derivative operators. It was observed that GDO can fine-tune coefficients of CFE-based rational transfer function models, and this hybrid use can significantly improve step and impulse responses of CFE-based approximate models of derivative operators. Besides, we demonstrate analog circuit realization of this optimized transfer function model of the FO derivative element according to the sum of low pass active filters in Multisim and Matlab simulation environments. Performance improvements of hybrid CFE-GDO approximation method were demonstrated in comparison with the stand-alone CFE method

    Translation Regulation and Proteasome Mediated Degradation Cooperate to Keep Stem-Loop Binding Protein Low in G1-Phase: REGULATION OF SLBP EXPRESSION IN G1-PHASE

    Histone mRNA levels are cell cycle regulated, and the major regulatory steps are at the posttranscriptional level. A major regulatory mechanism is S- phase restriction of Stem-loop binding protein (SLBP) which binds to the 3′ end of histone mRNA and participates in multiple steps of histone mRNA metabolism, including 3′ end processing, translation and regulation of mRNA stability. SLBP expression is cell cycle regulated without significant change in its mRNA level. SLBP expression is low in G1 until just before S phase where it functions and at the end of S phase SLBP is degraded by proteasome complex depending on phosphorylations on Thr 60 and Thr61. Here using synchronized HeLa cells we showed that SLBP production rate is low in early G1 and recovers back to S phase level somewhere between early and mid-G1. Further, we showed that SLBP is unstable in G1 due to proteasome mediated degradation as a novel mechanism to keep SLBP low in G1. Finally, the S/G2 stable mutant form of SLBP is degraded by proteasome in G1, indicating that the SLBP degradation mechanism in G1 is independent of the previously identified S/G2 degradation mechanism. In conclusion, as a mechanism to limit histone production to S phase, SLBP is kept low in G1 phase due to cooperative action of translation regulation and proteasome mediated degradation which is independent of previously known S/G2 degradation

    Ege Bölgesinde Organik Zeytin Yetiştiriciliği

    Bu çalışmada, insan beslenmesi ve sağlığı açısından çok önemli bir ürün olan zeytinin yetiştirilmesinde, konvansiyonel yöntemlere alternatif olarak organik tarım yöntemlerinin uygulanabilirliğinin belirlenmesi, fenolojik, pomolojik ve ekonomik farklılıkların ortaya konması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma Güney Ege Bölgesinin en önemli yağlık çeşidi olan Memecik zeytin çeşidinde Zeytincilik Araştırma Enstitüsünün Kemalpaşa üretim alanında 2004-2007 yılları arasında yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada organik parsellerde toprak verimliliğini artırmak amacıyla yeşil gübreleme, organik gübre, organik tarım yönetmeliğinde izin verilen mineral maddeler, konvansiyonel parsellerde ise kimyasal gübreler uygulanmıştır. Zeytin sineği popülasyon takibi Mc phail ve sarı yapışkan tuzaklar, zeytin güvesi ise delta tipi feremon tuzaklar ile yapılmıştır. Organik parsellerde zeytin sineği mücadelesinde Ecotrap, neemazal ve kaolin uygulamaları yapılmıştır. Konvansiyonel parsellerde mücadele Fenthion ile yapılmıştır. Her iki parseldeki ağaçlarda sürgün boyu, somak ve çiçek adeti, meyvelerde ise tane adedi ve ağırlığı, eni, boyu, et/çekirdek oranları, ürün miktarları tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen zeytinyağlarında ise yağ asitleri bileşimleri ve zeytinyağı kalite parametreleri değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca yaprak ve toprak analizleri ile bitki besin maddelerinin değişimleri incelenmiş, parsellerden elde edilen meyvelerde kalıntı analizleri yapılmıştır. Meyve örneklerinde yapılan analizlerde organik fosforlu nitrojenli ve sülfürlü pestisitlere rastlanmamıştır. Her iki grupta da ürün miktarı, yağ kalite parametreleri ve yağ asitleri bileşiminde önemli bir farklılık bulunmamıştır. Yapılan organik tarım uygulamalarıyla, konvansiyonel yöntemler uygulanarak sağlanan verim ve kalitede ürün elde edilmiştir

    Ülke güvenliğinin sağlanması için mevcut savunma sistem ve teçhizatında ithalat yoluyla sayısal üstünlük sağlamak yerine her türlü imkanı kullanarak, araştırma ve geliştirmeye dayalı savunma sanayinde milli tasarım ve üretim yeteneğinin kazanılması günümüzde daha önemli hale gelmiştir. Diğer ülkelerden izin almadan kullanılabilecek vurucu gücü yüksek, ileri teknolojiye dayalı savunma sistem ve teçhizatına sahip olmak, ülkelerin uzun vadeli ulusal stratejik çıkarlarına askeri, politik ve ekonomik yönden olumlu katkı sağlamaktadır. Milli savunma sanayini tesis etmenin ulusal politika ve stratejilerin uygulanmasındaki etkisi, kritik savunma sistemlerinde dışa bağımlılığın getirdiği tehlikeli riskleri azaltması, caydırıcılığa, teknolojik gelişmeye ve ulusal refaha katkısı savunma sanayisini geliştirmiş ülkeler tarafından çok iyi bilinmektedir. Söz konusu ülkeler incelendiğinde özellikle büyük ölçekli savunma harcamalarını kapsayan tedarik programlarının kendi ülkelerine en çok faydayı sağlayacak alanlarda teknolojik altyapıyı geliştirme, sanayileşme düzeyini yükseltme, iş gücü kalitesini arttırma, temel bilimlerde eğitim-öğretimi, uygulamalı bilimlerde ise araştırma ve geliştirme olanaklarını geliştirmek amacıyla kullanma gayreti içinde oldukları görülmektedir. Bu tez kapsamında savunma sanayisi gelişmiş ülkeler, milli savunma sanayinin genel durumu ile savunma ve sosyal politika harcamaları incelenmiştir. Daha sonra milli savunma sanayinde yeniden yapılanmaya ilişkin Milli Savunma Sanayi Politika ve Stratejisi belirlenmiştir. Son olarak belirlenen strateji kapsamında bir model önerisi ve önerilen modelin sosyal politikaya olumlu etkileri ortaya konulmuştur. Today it is more important to get the ability of national design and manufacture on research and development based defence sector than the quantity of existing defense systems and equipment to ensure national security. To own highly effective strike force and advanced technology based defense systems that can be used without permission of other countries have positive contribution to long-term national strategic interests of the country on military, political and economic aspects. Establishing national defense industry effects to implement national policies and strategies, reduces dependence to other countries on critical defense systems and contributes to technological development and national prosperity is well known by developed countries. These countries try to utulize large-scale defense procurement programs to get the most benefit on developing technological infrastructure, progress industrialization, improve labor quality, increase education and training quality in basic sciences and enhance research and development facility in applied sciences. The thesis draws upon an extensive research study focused on the countries that established a developed defense industry, the state of national defense industry, defense and social policy expenditures at the beginning. Then the national defense industry policy and strategy has been determined for restructuring the national defense industry. Finally under the chosen strategy, proposed a defense industry model and put forward positive effects of the model to social policy

    HSA (headaches associated with sexual activity) are by definition benign conditions but the symptoms can be the same as in serious life threatining cerebral conditions and these need to be quickly excluded at the first presentation. The prevalance of HSA is estimated 1 % general population. Onset usually occurs in the latter part of the fourth decade of life, though some patients may experience it in their early 30s. A 55 year-old Turkish man patient presented with a history of severe headache during intercourse for the last two months. It was localised to bilateral and explosive. The onset was just prior or at the moment of orgasm and lasted for a hour. The patient avoided sexual activity due to headache. The headache was unresponsive to analgesic drugs. In the classification of the Internatıonal Headache Society these disorders are divided into three subtypes, based on the onset time, related to orgasm. The typical story is that headaches occurs during sexual acyivity is bilateral and stops or less severe if sexual activity stops prior to orgasm.
