A Data Analytics Study for Adverse Reactions of Blood Donors by Age, Gender, and Donation Type

    Get PDF
The blood donation process is usually very safe, and blood donors are comfortable during the blood donation procedure; however, blood donors occasionally experience various types of adverse reactions during or at the end of blood donation. Some of these reactions are very minor while blood donors sometimes experience serious reactions as well. This study aims to analyze the various types of adverse reactions experienced by the blood donors. The study conducts detailed analysis on a significant amount of real data collected through a blood organization in the southern part of the United States and provides the results regarding the frequency and types of adverse reactions based on multiple attributes such as age, gender, and donation type

The 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by the ocean and the life inhabiting the oceans play an important role in shaping the earth’s climate. Phytoplankton, also known as microalgae, are the single celled, autotrophic components of the plankton community and a key part of oceans, seas and freshwater basin ecosystems. They are significant factor in the ocean carbon cycle and, hence, important in all pathways of carbon in the ocean. Phytoplankton contain chlorophyll pigments for photosynthesis, similar to terrestrial plants and require sunlight in order to live and grow. Most of them are buoyant and float in the upper part of the ocean, where plenty of sunlight is available. They also require inorganic nutrients such as nitrates, phosphates, and sulphur which they convert into proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. In a balanced ecosystem, phytoplankton are the base of the food web and provide food for a wide range of sea creatures (NOAA). The measurement of phytoplankton can be indexed as chlorophyll concentration and is important as they are fundamental to understanding how the marine ecosystem responds to climate variability and climate change

Performance evaluation of distributed mMulti media wireless sensor network

The demand for multimedia services i.e. audio, video and data with improve QoS and optimum utilization of resources in WSN’s has posed new challenges. As the intensity of traffic increases; it demands for higher bandwidth and dedicated resources to reduce packet loss and delay. There have been analytical models proposed where priorities were assigned to video and voice packets to reduce packet loss and optimize resource utilization. In this paper distributed scheme is proposed to handle video, voice and data packets by having multiple sink nodes. There are shared sink nodes where video, voice and data packets are serviced and dedicated sink nodes only for video and voice packets. The proposed scheme has shown that the packet loss for data packets is higher than voice and video packets. The simulation results show that the performance of the network is improved when priorities are assigned to video and voice packets by giving dedicated resources

Identifying mesoscale eddies- Relevance to mud banks and fishery

The most popular fishing area during mud bank formation in Kerala is off Punnapra coast in Alapuzha district. This place is equipped with unique crafts such as one-man operated expanded polystyrene thermocol made gill netters, and several other traditional crafts. The fishermen community along this coast is vigilant against any mechanized fishing during mud bank period which falls in the southwest monsoon months when there is a ban on mechanized crafts. There are comparable datasets, from mud bank vis-à-vis non mud bank in this region, which indicate that, the catch per unit effort (CPUE) do not vary significantly. Fishing in Thrissur and Malappuram districts are not restricted by the formation of mud banks. In these districts modified outboard crafts such as pair trawlers operating double net and the high horse power of the out board engines are generally on a look out for nonmud bank resources also. In Malappuram district, the occurrence of the mud bank fishery is for limited days and generally less reported. Therefore, the analysis of data sets indicated better production and CPUE from non-mud banks in Malappuram. In general we can say that there is no significant increase in abundance of fishes reported from the mud bank regions. But the calm waters generated at certain pockets of the otherwise disturbed coastal waters act as areas for seasonal landings of fish

Impact of investment behaviour on financial markets during COVID-19: a case of UK

    Get PDF
This study aims to determine the impact of investment behavior on financial markets during COVID-19 with respect to the UK. This study is quantitative, where the data has been gathered from the primary sources of information, i.e., through a survey questionnaire. The researcher adopted the non-probability convenience sampling through which 337 responses were gathered. The questionnaire was self-administered, which was based on 7 points Likert scale. Concerning the analysis, the SEM technique has been adopted in which CFA and path analysis were carried out to determine the impact of variables. The study’s analysis determined significant moderation of COVID-19 uncertainty over the relationship of risk perception and general risk to tolerance. Similarly, the moderation of COVID-19 uncertainty over the relationship of risk perception and financial risk to tolerance was also determined. Additionally, the profitability rate’s effect was determined by the financial risk tolerance and general risk tolerance. Moreover, the effect of risk perception was also determined over the financial risk to tolerance. Lastly, the effect of satisfaction was determined to be significant over the general risk to tolerance

A review of studies on Badr Shakir Al-Sayyab’s life and poetry

This paper is a review of literature of the researches and readings that are related to my study of the celebrated Iraqi poet Badr Shakir Al-Sayyab (1926-1964) and his attitude towards women. Badr Shakir Al-Sayyab is the most studied poet and a lot of studies, books and article in various languages dealt with his life and poetry. Researchers followed various approaches to examine his social status, his political stands and even his psychological condition. However, only a limited number of researches studied his poetry in terms of language and linguistics. Besides, and as far as it is related to our study, researchers did not state whether Al-Sayyab‟s ideological and political stands influence his attitude toward the women

Dispelling the myth of a value premium: contrary evidence of Malaysian crony capitalism

    Get PDF
This paper contradicts the existence of a universal value anomaly by studying Malaysia, a country with a unique institutional setting. We investigate this counter-example to attribute the anomaly to: 1) the leverage effect of value firms; 2) the investment pattern of growth firms; 3) the economic environment. We find that the value premium cannot be ascribed solely to risk as it is time varying and dependent on the attributes of the companies. Our results illustrate that small cap value firms perform relatively well during favourable economic conditions. In contrast, large cap growth firms perform better than their counterparts (i.e., large cap value firms) in economic upturns as they are preferentially awarded projects to revive the nation's growth

Upwelling over the eastern Arabian Sea

Upwelling is a vital oceanographic phenomena determining the biological productivity of the coastal oceanic provinces in a greater extent. The annual pelagic fisheries of coastal rim countries, adjacent to the eastern boundary of the Ocean, over the trade wind zone are greatly dependent on upwelling. Over the North India Ocean (NIO), west coast of India, adjacent to the eastern Arabian Sea is well known for its seasonal occurrence of upwelling and downwelling annually. Over the past, several authors have studied upwelling along the west coast of India (Banse 1959, 1968; Sharma 1978; Johannessen et al., 1987
