    How Knowledge and Financial Self-Efficacy Moderate the Relationship between Money Attitudes and Personal Financial Management Behavior

    This study finds the impact of money attitudes on the personal financial management behavior and check the moderating effect of financial knowledge and financial self-efficacy on their relationship. The sample for this research was young adults (University students) who were also employed. From five universities where two universities were from the public sector  and three were from private sector 500 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. Hierarchal Regression and factor analysis were employed to derive the results. The following are the results which are generated from this research study. Money attitudes and Financial Knowledge have a significant positive impact on the personal financial management behavior of young adults, and financial knowledge has a positive moderating impact on the relationship of money attitudes & personal financial management behavior. It was found that 20.9% Personal Financial Management Behavior is explained by money attitudes at significance level of 5 %. Financial Self-efficacy has a positive impact on the personal financial management behavior and it has positive moderating impact on the relationship of money attitudes & personal financial management behavior

    Insecticidal potential of some indigenous weeds extracts of Bahawalpur Pakistan againstdusky cotton bug (Oxycarenus hyalinipennis) (Costa) (Hemiptera: Lygaidae) under laboratory conditions

    Owing to large scale use of chemical insecticides there is always need to find new alternatives to chemical insecticides. This study evaluated the aqueous extracts of three weeds namely Datura alba (Nees), Withania somnifera (Linnaeus) and Chenopodium album (Linnaeus) for insecticidal potential against Oxycarenus hyalinipennis (Costa) (Hemiptera: Lygaeidae) under laboratory conditions. Extracts were prepared from three plant parts e.g., leaves, stems and roots and applied at five concentrations ranging from 1 to 20 %. To check the mortality not because of weed extracts control treatment (water only) was also included as sixth treatment. Mortality of pest insects was assessed after three exposure periods e.g., 24h, 48 hand 72 h. Among the three weeds tested, mortality was more due to extract of D. alba weed which thus proved more toxic compared to other two weeds. Among plant parts, root extracts were more potent than leaves and stem extracts and the more concentration of 20 per cent usually resulted in maximum mortality. Maximum mortality of insects was after 72 h period followed by 48 h and minimum was after 24 h period. However maximum mortality of 60 % in case of D. alba warrants attention towards the options of either increasing concentration (> 20 %) of this extract or to evaluate other extraction type e.g., ethanolic extract to gain maximum mortality against this notorious pest

    Tibial plateau fractures: A new classification scheme

    Fractures of the tibial plateaus are common injuries. Various classification schemes have been used to describe these injuries. Although each system has its own purpose, the simpler systems do not allow comparison with more complex divisions. The problem is compounded by the variable use of adjectives that describe these fractures. A comprehensive classification of tibial plateau fractures should group fractures that are similar in topography, morphology, and pathogenesis, requiring similar treatment, and having a similar prognosis. Fracture dislocations and standard tibial plateau fractures should be incorporated into a single classification to avoid the use of two complementary classifications. Any such classification should not be difficult to remember or to use. Keeping in mind these requirements, the authors devised a simple yet comprehensive classification. The authors studied 80 cases of tibial plateau fractures from January 1988 to September 1997, and used contemporary classifications of tibial plateau fractures as a database to formulate the new classification. A new fracture, subcondylar bicondylar with coronal split, has been classified for the first time. An alphanumeric system has been developed that has made nomenclature easy to remember and use. An effort has been made to address the profoundly confusing issue of variable adjectives that describe these injuries. A review of the literature shows that fractures in the authors\u27 classification have been grouped according to similar pathomechanics, treatment, and functional results

    Passive cooling analysis of an electronic chipset using nanoparticles and metal-foam composite PCM: An experimental study

    Thermal management of electronic components is critical for long-term reliability and continuous operation, as the over-heating of electronic equipment leads to decrement in performance. The novelty of the current experimental study is to investigate the passive cooling of electronic equipment, by using nano-enriched phase change material (NEPCM) with copper foam having porosity of 97 %. The phase change material of PT-58 was used with graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles (NPs), having concentrations of 0.01 wt. % and 0.02 wt. %. Three power levels of 8 W, 16 W, and 24 W, with corresponding heating inputs of 0.77 kW/ m2, 1.54 kW/ m2 and 2.3 kW/ m2, respectively, were used to simulate the heating input to heat sink for thermal characterization. According to results, at 0.77 kW/ m2 heating input the maximum base temperature declined by 13.03 % in 0.02 wt. % GNPs-NEPCM/copper foam case. At heating input of 1.54 kW/ m2, the maximum base temperature reduction of 16 % was observed in case of 0.02 wt. % GNPs-NEPCM/copper foam and 13.1 % in case of 0.02 wt. % MgO-NEPCM/copper foam. Similarly, at heating input of 2.3 kW/ m2, the maximum temperature of base lessened by 12.58 % in case of 0.02 wt. % GNPs-NEPCM/copper foam. The highest time to reach the set point temperature of 50 ⁰ C, 60 ⁰ C, and 70 ⁰ C was in case of GNPs-NEPCM/copper foam composites, while at all power levels MgO-NEPCM/copper foam gave comparable performance to GNPs based composite. Similar trend was observed in the study of enhancement ratio in operation time. From the results, it is concluded that the copper foam incorporation in NEPCM is an effective measure to mitigate the heat sink base temperature and can provide best cooling efficiency at low and higher heating loads

    Algorithm selection using edge ML and case-based reasoning

    In practical data mining, a wide range of classification algorithms is employed for prediction tasks. However, selecting the best algorithm poses a challenging task for machine learning practitioners and experts, primarily due to the inherent variability in the characteristics of classification problems, referred to as datasets, and the unpredictable performance of these algorithms. Dataset characteristics are quantified in terms of meta-features, while classifier performance is evaluated using various performance metrics. The assessment of classifiers through empirical methods across multiple classification datasets, while considering multiple performance metrics, presents a computationally expensive and time-consuming obstacle in the pursuit of selecting the optimal algorithm. Furthermore, the scarcity of sufficient training data, denoted by dimensions representing the number of datasets and the feature space described by meta-feature perspectives, adds further complexity to the process of algorithm selection using classical machine learning methods. This research paper presents an integrated framework called eML-CBR that combines edge edge-ML and case-based reasoning methodologies to accurately address the algorithm selection problem. It adapts a multi-level, multi-view case-based reasoning methodology, considering data from diverse feature dimensions and the algorithms from multiple performance aspects, that distributes computations to both cloud edges and centralized nodes. On the edge, the first-level reasoning employs machine learning methods to recommend a family of classification algorithms, while at the second level, it recommends a list of the top-k algorithms within that family. This list is further refined by an algorithm conflict resolver module. The eML-CBR framework offers a suite of contributions, including integrated algorithm selection, multi-view meta-feature extraction, innovative performance criteria, improved algorithm recommendation, data scarcity mitigation through incremental learning, and an open-source CBR module, reshaping research paradigms. The CBR module, trained on 100 datasets and tested with 52 datasets using 9 decision tree algorithms, achieved an accuracy of 94% for correct classifier recommendations within the top k=3 algorithms, making it highly suitable for practical classification applications

    Neural Activations Associated With Friction Stimulation on Touch-Screen Devices

    Tactile sensation largely influences human perception, for instance when using a mobile device or a touch screen. Active touch, which involves tactile and proprioceptive sensing under the control of movement, is the dominant tactile exploration mechanism compared to passive touch (being touched). This paper investigates the role of friction stimulation objectively and quantitatively in active touch tasks, in a real human-computer interaction on a touch-screen device. In this study, 24 participants completed an active touch task involved stroking the virtual strings of a guitar on a touch-screen device while recording the electroencephalography (EEG) signal. Statistically significant differences in beta and gamma oscillations in the middle frontal and parietal areas at the late period of the active touch task are found. Furthermore, stronger beta event-related desynchronization (ERD) and rebound in the presence of friction stimulation in the contralateral parietal area are observed. However, in the ipsilateral parietal area, there is a difference in beta oscillation only at the late period of the motor task. As for implicit emotion communication, a significant increase in emotional responses for valence, arousal, dominance, and satisfaction is observed when the friction stimulation is applied. It is argued that the friction stimulation felt by the participants' fingertip in a touch-screen device further induces cognitive processing compared to the case when no friction stimulation is applied. This study provides objective and quantitative evidence that friction stimulation is able to affect the bottom-up sensation and cognitive processing

    Artocarpus altilis extract effect on cervical cancer cells

    This paper elucidate on the effects of Artocarpus Altilis Pulp part on cervix HeLa cancer cell. IC50 values of pulp extract were determined on HeLa cell with different concentration (12.5µg/ml, 25µg/ml, 50µg/ml, 100µg/ml). Cell viability and cell growth were observed up to 72 hours with comparative to control cells. The results obtained in this research quantitatively revealed the dependence of cell proliferation on extract concentration. Control, 12.5µg/ml, 25µg/ml, 50µg/ml, 100µg/ml of concentration showed 100%, 90%, 80%, 50%, 44% cell viability after 72 hours in culture respectively. This study result demonstrates that Artocarpus Altilis has the ability to inhibit cervical cancer cell proliferation
