Simulation numérique de la propagation d'une source laser incohérente dans une fibre optique

International audienceLe présent travail concerne les lasers à fibre impulsionnels de puissance de type MOPFA (oscillateur laser maître suivi d'un amplificateur à fibre). Un travail expérimental a permis d'établir que les non-linéarités observées (effet Kerr, mélange à quatre ondes, effet Raman) pouvaient être de nature très différentes selon les caractéristiques de la source issue du laser maître sans toutefois permettre de déterminer si la statistique des photons est seule responsable des différents scénarios non-linéaires observés. Nous avons développé un code de simulation numérique afin de pouvoir valider l'hypothèse selon laquelle les propriétés du laser maître en termes de cohérence jouent un rôle prépondérant dans la manifestation des non-linéarités

First demonstration of a 12 DFB fiber laser array on a 100 GHz ITU grid, for underwater acoustic sensing application

International audienceWe report for the first time a multiplexed array of 12 distributed feedback fiber lasers (DFB FLs) on a single optical fiber, separated by only 100 GHz (0.8 nm) in the C-band. These lasers are pumped by a 200 mW laser diode at 1480 nm with no apparent impact on the sensor noise floor despite the fact that the residual reflections from adjacent gratings may be enhanced due to the smaller wavelength separation. Each DFB FL, especially developed for serial multiplexing, exhibits low lasing threshold typically between 1 and 2 mW, low intensity noise and very low frequency noise (less than 30 dB re 1 Hz²/Hz at 1 kHz from optical carrier). From these experimental results, extension to 32 DFB FLs array (on 100 GHz ITU grid) multiplexed on one fiber will be discussed

Effets d'une faible contre-réaction optique sur des lasers à fibre DFB pour applications capteurs

National audienceNous étudions l'effet d'une faible réflection externe sur des lasers à fibre à contre-réaction répartie (DFB FLs). Nous démontrons expérimentalement que la phase optique accumulée sur un aller-retour dans la cavité étendue et la réflectivité associée au miroir externe modifient la puissance de sortie et la fréquence d'émission d'un DFB FL. Comme pour un laser à semiconducteurs (SC) contre-réactionné, à réflectivité externe donnée, l'amplitude des variations est constante pour ces deux paramètres quelle que soit la longueur de la cavité externe

Datalog+, RuleML and OWL 2: Formats and Translations for Existential Rules

International audienceThis paper is devoted to formats and translations for Datalog+. We first introduce the dlgp format, which extends classical Datalog format to Datalog+. It allows to encode facts, existential rules (including equality), negative constraints and conjunctive queries. Moreover, for compatibility with Semantic Web languages, this format includes Web notions (IRIs and literals, according to Turtle syntax). Second, we define a translation from dlgp to the Datalog+ fragment of RuleML. Third, we define a translation from OWL 2 to dlgp. We point out that the composition of both translations allows to import OWL 2 to RuleML. The associated parsers and translators are available

Griwes: Generic Model and Preliminary Specifications for a Graph-Based Knowledge Representation Toolkit

International audienceGriwes is an initiative to develop a common model and an open-source freeware platform shared by different graph-based frameworks. We provide an overview of its objectives, architecture and specifications. We detail some of the basic mathematical structures that are used to characterize the primitives for graph-based knowledge representation. We then propose to factorize recurrent knowledge representation primitives that can be shared across specific graph-based languages and we provide a proof of concept by showing how two languages (Simple Conceptual Graphs and RDF) can be described in this framework

Pulsed OPO brightness improvement by means of intracavity spatial filtering

International audienceThe design and operation of a pulsed optical parametric oscillator (OPO) with an intracavity spatial filter is described. This filter, designed to select a single high-order transverse mode, improves the brightness of the generated parametric waves by decreasing their divergence. This process is confirmed by experiments carried out on a KTP OPO pumped at 532 nm, operating close to degeneracy in a singly resonant regime. Comparison of the output energy and beam quality for the OPO with and without intracavity filtering demonstrated a five-fold increase in brightness

The conference « Styli 2003 » was held in June 2003 in New Caledonia. It examined research results in the fields related to this aquaculture: pond ecology, pathology, physiology, immunology, nutrition and genetics. The presence of industrial, institutional and scientific (local and outside) partners of the shrimp industry provided an opportunity to discuss the orientations of a new multidisciplinary project (Desans, Défi Santé Stylirostrisj devoted to the understanding of shrimp (Litopenaeus stylirostris) health in ponds.Le colloque « Styli 2003 » s'est tenu en Nouvelle-Calédonie en juin 2003. II avait pour objectif de présenter les acquis scientifiques des différentes disciplines concernées par cette aquaculture : écologie des bassins, pathologie, physiologie, immunologie, nutrition et génétique. La participation d’une quinzaine de spécialistes extérieurs à la Nouvelle-Calédonie ainsi que la présence des partenaires de la filière ont permis, avec les chercheurs localement engagés dans ces recherches, d’entreprendre une réflexion critique sur les orientations du programme Désans (Défi Santé Stylirostris), programme dont ce colloque était l’évènement fondateur
