Potato cyst nematodes are a threat to several agricultural crops around the world with some species considered quarantine
pests and subjected to strict regulatory measures in many countries. Usually, cysts nematodes co-exist in the soil
with other species of plant-parasitic nematodes, so, a time and cost-efficient extraction technique becomes of primary
importance. The ideal extraction method should be able to obtain cysts as well as detecting the presence of other motile
plant-parasitic nematodes with a potential impact on potato farming (such as Meloidogyne sp. and Pratylenchus sp.). In
recent years, studies have been carried out to test the efficiency of various methods of nematode extraction but few
results have been published. Therefore, to test if a method that extracts simultaneously cysts and motile nematodes
can be used instead of the reference method that extracts cysts only, the efficiency of Cobb’s decanting and sieving
technique was compared to Fenwick’s technique. As a result, in the 74 samples evaluated, a greater number of cysts
were extracted from 24 samples using Fenwick’s method and from 11 samples employing Cobb’s decanting and sieving
technique. The statistics results showed a significance level of 0,05 using Fenwick’s can allowing to conclude that this
method is much more efficient than Cobb’s decanting and sieving technique, and confirming it should not be replaced
by alternative methods for cysts extractioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Provinha Brasil and interfaces in quotidian of a public school from Baixada Fluminense
As práticas investigadas na turma 2B transbordaram as barreiras da avaliação e revelaram a complexidade e multiplicidade dos fios que tecem o cotidiano escolarThis study was conducted in a 2nd year class of an elementary public school in the municipality of Duque de Caxias in state of Rio de Janeiro. The research sought clues and evidence of possible effects and implications of Provinha Brazil in school quotidian, trying to understand how they are re-signified by subjects participating in, the school context practitioners and their contributions to the students learning. In theoretical and methodological field, Ginzburg (1989) and Certeau (2012) provided the main references to invest in the challenge of school context research. For the construction of the data it was used direct observation, interviews and analysis of documents. As reactive clue and also resistance, both the school and the teacher of the class 2B demonstrated indifference regarding the use of “Provinha Brazil” diagnosis and its help in educational planning, which implies disuses. The practices investigated in the class 2B overflowed the barriers of the assessment and revealed the complexity and multiplicity of the threads that weave the school contex
Detailed morphobiometric studies of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and characterisation of other Bursaphelenchus species (Nematoda: Parasitaphelenchidae) associated with Pinus pinaster in Portugal
Detailed studies on Bursaphelenchus xylophilus are provided in this contribution. Comparative observations
between field and cultured populations of this species demonstrated significant size differences: cultured specimens
overall displayed larger size in all morphometric parameters. A principal component analysis (PCA) of the individuals
undergoing moulting allowed their separation in four groups namely J2-J3, J3-J4, J4F-F, and J4M-M; gonad length mean values
of these four groups made possible to distinguish the non-moulting groups J2, J3, J4F, J4M and adults. Seven Bursaphelenchus
species (B. hellenicus, B. leoni, B. pinasteri, B. sexdentati, B. teratospicularis, B. tusciae and B. xylophilus), associated with Pinus
pinaster in Portugal, were charaterized, including biometrical measurements and ratios as well excised spicules observed
under SEM; furthermore, B. hellenicus, B. pinasteri, B. sexdentati, B. tusciae and B. xylophilus were characterised on the
basis of their ITS-RFLP profiles. B. sexdentati and B. xylophilus were the only species found in high numbers in some of
the samples
Emotional processes in job search: does outplacement change them?
In spite of the existing literature on this topic, the role that outplacement counseling performs within job search process is still unknown, namely regarding the effect it has on the psychological processes that precede job search behaviours. This study aims to analyze the relationship between some emotion-linked variables within the process of finding a new job by offering a comparison between unemployed individuals that had formal outplacement support versus no structured support. Results suggest a partial moderating effect of outplacement, once it interacts with some relationships in the overall research model. Psychological capital was found to be an inert variable; anxiety and depression were found to be related with emotional regulation variables and, in outplacement model, cognitive reappraisal was found to positively related with anxiety that, in turn, positively act on job search behaviours. Self-efficacy was the foremost predictor of job search as well as a mediator of psychological capital and, only in non-outplacement group, of depression’s relationship with job search behaviours. The contributions of these results for human resources professionals and outplacement counselors are discussed and supported with suggestions for future research.

Looking for a break in Spanish Inflation Data in the early eighties and assessing persistence
Using the Bai-Perron test, we look for a shift in the conditional mean of an AR representation of Spanish CPI inflation over the period: 1978-2006. It is clear that Spain, as most OECD economies, experienced an inflation slowdown in the early eithgties, which can be related to some policy measures undertook by the government coming out of the 1982 elections. It is shown, that when the break is accounted for, there are no signs of persistence in Spanish CPI inflation.inflation persistence; structural breaks; monetary policy
