Hardware and Software Development Framework for Embedded Automotive Electronics
International audienceElectronics in Automotive Applications is constantly growing with an increasing quantity and complexity of their related embedded software. Multiplexed networked architectures give the possibility to implement different distributes solutions thus allowing optimized partitioning. This paper has the aim to describe the Hardware and Software Development Framework conceived and realized in Ixfin Magneti Marelli Electronic Systems in order to improve and optimize design and prototypes implementation of distributed electronics in the area of body applications. Quick function reallocation , solutions reuse, customer function integration, time to market reduction and R&D costs containment were the main objectives of this project. The document starts with a brief overview of the development process introducing the concept of the platform approach. Then both the Hardware and in particular the Software development framework are described and discussed in details. Some examples of real applications of the framework, performance indexes and balance metrics of the obtained results are presented in the conclusion
The impact of the economic crisis on Italian young people’s everyday life
In Italy, the economic crisis of the last years has been characterized by recession,
deflation, and unemployment. In addition to its broader effect on society, the crisis has
deeply affected Italians’ everyday practices, their views, and their future goals. This is
particularly true for young people, who can no longer rely on rising expectations. The
paper presents the preliminary results of a qualitative study aimed at understanding how
young people perceive and handle their everyday life in a social and working context
so heavily influenced by income uncertainty, job insecurity, and a general lack of

NON-NORMATIVE CRITICAL LIFE EVENTS: WHERE DYADIC COPING AND ATTACHMENT MEET
The aim of the current study was to examine both dyadic coping and anxious attachment following the experience of a critical non-normative life event. Pairfam, a nationally representative German sample, was used as a secondary data set for this quantitative study. Paired samples t-tests were used to analyze the data from 559 German couples to track statistically significant increases or decreases in the perception of dyadic coping responses and anxious attachment levels when a non-normative critical life event happened at some point in the previous two years. Results found that the partner of the anchor showed a statistically significant increase in attachment anxiety, but the anchors themselves did not. It was also found that there was a significant decrease in the perception of support from their partners among both anchors and partners. It is suggested that future research gather data closer to the time of the event to understand the trajectory of both coping responses between spouses as well as the attachment dimension following a non-normative event. Clinical implications of the current study relate to the addition of therapeutic interventions including but not limited to routine outcome monitoring of a client’s attachment dimension along with dyadic coping following an explicit non-normative critical life event
Analysis and design of planar and non-planar wings for induced drag minimization
The goal of the work was to develop and validate computational tools to be used for the design of planar and non-planar wing geometries for minimum induced drag. Because of the iterative nature of the design problem, it is important that, in addition to being sufficiently accurate for the problem at hand, they are reasonably fast and computationally efficient. Toward this end, a method of predicting induced drag in the presence of a non-rigid wake is coupled with a panel method. The induced drag prediction technique is based on the Kutta-Joukowski law applied at the trailing edge. Until recently, the use of this method has not been fully explored and pressure integration and Trefftz-plane calculations favored. As is shown in this report, however, the Kutta-Joukowski method is able to give better results for a given amount of effort than the more common techniques, particularly when relaxed wakes and non-planar wing geometries are considered. Using these tools, a workable design method is in place which takes into account relaxed wakes and non-planar wing geometries. It is recommended that this method be used to design a wind-tunnel experiment to verify the predicted aerodynamic benefits of non-planar wing geometries

A Deep Learning Approach to Examine Ischemic ST Changes in Ambulatory ECG Recordings.
Patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) are at risk of transient myocardial ischemia (TMI), which could lead to serious morbidity or even mortality. Early detection of myocardial ischemia can reduce damage to heart tissues and improve patient condition. Significant ST change in the electrocardiogram (ECG) is an important marker for detecting myocardial ischemia during the rule-out phase of potential ACS. However, current ECG monitoring software is vastly underused due to excessive false alarms. The present study aims to tackle this problem by combining a novel image-based approach with deep learning techniques to improve the detection accuracy of significant ST depression change. The obtained convolutional neural network (CNN) model yields an average area under the curve (AUC) at 89.6% from an independent testing set. At selected optimal cutoff thresholds, the proposed model yields a mean sensitivity at 84.4% while maintaining specificity at 84.9%

Through entrepreneurs’ eyes: the Fab-spaces constellation
Fab-spaces provide individuals with access to numerous manufacturing equipment (including additive manufacturing), to carry out different types of projects. Although scholars are starting to speculate about the importance of these new organizational forms and their potential for future distributed innovation and production ecologies, this phenomenon is still largely unexplored. Building on existing multidisciplinary research, this paper offers the first empirical analysis of existing fab-spaces as providers of knowledge and production competencies. Amongst all the possible perspectives to derive a framework, we choose that of fab-spaces users who have an entrepreneurial intention. After deriving an analytical framework to position fab-spaces in the current academic discourse, the paper develops a classification, which considers the competences available to entrepreneurs, via fab-spaces, in conjunction with how these competences are provided. The resulting map reveals the complementarities amongst the different fab-spaces. It also shows that the current portfolio of fab-spaces supports mainly the distribution of innovation across locations and social groups. Several types of fab-spaces are currently well placed to support the transition from innovation to manufacturing, but their geographical distribution and range of manufacturing capabilities is not yet enough to provide a fully distributed manufacturing model. This study has practical consequences for entrepreneurs, in the better identification of the appropriate fab-spaces for their needs, and for policy makers, to help position the different types of fab-spaces as elements for national systems of innovation and production.Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (Grant ID: EP/K039598/1)This is the final version of the article. The Spread Fashion: an Explorative Research of Italian Fashion Blog
In the collaborative context of the web 2.0 the blogging phenomenon has become one of the most common ways to communicate and share information through its user-generated content. In the blogosphere fashion blogs represent probably one of the liveliest segments. Focusing on fashion brands, fashion products, street style, and personal style, fashion blogs can be written by both fashion professionals and normal people with an interest in the fashion system. This phenomenon has become even more relevant since the fashion brands have recognized the role of fashion bloggers in influencing the final consumers as well as the role of peer – to – peer recommendations in shaping desires and attires of fashion blog users.
The paper presents the preliminary results of a netnographic analysis conducted on some of the most popular Italian ‘non-professional’ fashion blogs in order to map the different approach to this grassrooted blog phenomenon, and to categorize and interpret the blog postings and the audience comments concerning fashion product-related information
