Study of the effects of background and motion camera on the efficacy of Kalman and particle filter algorithms.
This study compares independent use of two known algorithms (Kalmar filter with background subtraction and Particle Filter) that are commonly deployed in object tracking applications. Object tracking in general is very challenging; it presents numerous problems that need to be addressed by the application in order to facilitate its successful deployment. Such problems range from abrupt object motion, during tracking, to a change in appearance of the scene and the object, as well as object to scene occlusions, and camera motion among others. It is important to take into consideration some issues, such as, accounting for noise associated with the image in question, ability to predict to an acceptable statistical accuracy, the position of the object at a particular time given its current position. This study tackles some of the issues raised above prior to addressing how the use of either of the aforementioned algorithm, minimize or in some cases eliminate the negative effect
Demographics and tax competition in political economy
We examine possible impacts of demographics on outcomes of capital tax competition in political economy. For this purpose, we develop an overlapping generations model wherein public good provision nanced by capital tax is determined by majority voting. When a population is growing, younger people represent the majority, whereas when a population is decreasing, older people represent the majority. We show that the race to the bottom is likely to emerge in the population growing economy whereas the race to the top might emerge in the population decreasing economy
Dirac Monopole and Spin Hall Conductance for Anisotropic Superconductivities

superconductivities with the same symmetry. The Chern number for the spin Hall
conductance is given by the covering degree of a closed surface around the
Dirac monopole. It gives a clear illustration for the on-critical condition for
the supreconductivitiy with non zero chemical potential. Non
trivial topological orders on the triangular lattice are also presented and

Marsupialization of mandibular cystic lesions, clinical observations of 23 cases
1. Marsupialization was performed on 23 cases of cystic lesions of the jaw at the Department of Oral Surgery, Okayama University Hospital in the recent five years.
2. These patients were divided into 4 groups according to their age; namely, group A of those under IS years old, group B of those between 15 and 30 years old, group C of those between 31 and 60 years old, and group D of those over 61 years old, and the results of postoperative findings were compared with those of preoperative ones.
3. In group A of the four groups the most favorable results were obtained after marsupialization and reduction of the tumor was remarkable, even in a case of ameloblastoma, as compared with groups B, C and D. 4. Cure of lesions took somewhat a longer period of time in group B
than in group A, but all the cystic lesions were reduced favorably after operation. 5. The reduction in cysts in groups C and D was markedly slower when compared with that in groups A and B, but the marsupialization surgery seems to be desirable in some cases.</p
Development of Water Management Modeling by using GIS in Chirchik River Basin, Uzbekistan
AbstractThe management of water resources has become a critical need for Chirchik river basin in Uzbekistan due to water deficit and salt damage. Hence, plans must be developed for water efficient use through better management at the river basin level. In this paper, fundamental concept of the proposed water management modeling of the Chirchik river basin and overview of hydrological model using Geomorphology Based Hydrological Model (GBHM). Furthermore, various spatial data such as land-use layers and hydrological layers are developed in this study by conducting latest GIS (Geographical Information System) technology. By extracting ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and ALOS (Advanced Land Observing Satellite) data on autumn and spring, a series of land-use classification is created using the supervised classification method. For regional-scale hydrological modeling, GBHM as a powerful tool is used to analyze the river basin by utilizing the geomorphological properties data for each catchment and hillslope hydrological processes. As a result, development of spatial modeling is obtained and GIS-based analysis is an effective method to study water management in Chirchik river basin in Uzbekistan

Flap Reconstruction for Esophageal Perforation Following Anterior Cervical Plate Fixation
Anterior cervical plate fixation is a common surgical treatment for cervical spine trauma, disc herniation, or cervical spondylosis. Esophageal perforation following anterior cervical plate fixation is a rare but serious complication. Management of esophageal perforation is controversial; however, we suggest treating most cases surgically because this condition is slow to heal and often fatal. We managed 2 cases of esophageal perforation following anterior cervical plate fixation by flap reconstruction with the pectoralis major muscle in one case and a jejunal free flap in the other. Unveiling the role of differential growth in 3D morphogenesis: An inference method to analyze area expansion rate distribution in biological systems
The three-dimensional (3D) morphologies of many organs in organisms, such as the curved shapes of leaves and flowers, the branching structure of lungs, and the exoskeletal shape of insects, are formed through surface growth. Although differential growth, a mode of surface growth, has been qualitatively identified as 3D morphogenesis, a quantitative understanding of the mechanical contribution of differential growth is lacking. To address this, we developed a quantitative inference method to analyze the distribution of the area expansion rate, which governs the growth of surfaces into 3D morphology. To validate the accuracy of our method, we tested it on a basic 3D morphology that allowed for the theoretical derivation of the area expansion rate distribution, and then assessed the difference between the predicted outcome and the theoretical solution. We also applied this method to complex 3D shapes and evaluated its accuracy through numerical experiments. The findings of the study revealed a linear decrease in error on a log-log scale with an increase in the number of meshes in both evaluations. This affirmed the reliability of the predictions for meshes that are sufficiently refined. Moreover, we employed our methodology to analyze the developmental process of the Japanese rhinoceros beetle Trypoxylus dichotomus, which is characterized by differential growth regulating 3D morphogenesis. The results indicated a notably high rate of area expansion on the left and right edges of the horn primordium, which is consistent with the experimental evidence of a higher rate of cell division in these regions. Hence, these findings confirm the efficacy of the proposed method in analyzing biological systems
Effects of skim-milk supplementation on the quality and penetrating ability of boar semen after long-term preservation at 15 °C
This study investigated the effects of skim-milk supplementation on the quality and penetrating ability of boar semen preserved at 15 °C. When boar semen samples were preserved in Modified Modena extender supplemented with various concentrations (0, 7.5, 15, 30 and 50 mg/mL) of skim milk powder at 15 °C for 4 weeks, higher sperm motility and viability were observed in the case of 7.5 mg/mL skim-milk supplementation compared with the control group (0 mg/mL) during the preservation (P < 0.05). When in vitro matured oocytes were co-incubated with boar sperm that had been preserved in Modified Modena extender with three different concentrations (0, 7.5 or 15 mg/mL) of skim milk powder at 15 °C for two weeks, there were no apparent effects of skim-milk supplementation on the rates of fertilisation and development to blastocysts of oocytes after co-incubation. However, the monospermic fertilisation rate of sperm preserved with 15 mg/mL skim milk powder was higher (P < 0.05) than that of fresh non-preserved sperm, but did not differ among the preservation groups. The results indicate that the supplementation of Modified Modena extender with 7.5 mg/mL skim milk powder improves the motility and viability, but not the penetrating ability, of sperm after liquid preservation for at least two weeks
