    Risks can occur anytime and anywhere due to health insurance, natural disaster losses, business protection, property protection, however, public awareness of the protection given to other parties such as insurance companies is relatively lacking. Many insurance companies take approaches so that people have an interest in insurance, one of which is by holding a teacher volunteer program (TVP) for the first time by the Indonesian General Insurance Association (AAUI) as a literacy program by providing an in-depth understanding of insurance for the community for students and the community. , this program is a literacy stage before the inclusion stage. The method of implementing TVP is carried out by volunteer teachers or teaching staff selected by AAUI which is carried out by each teacher or teaching staff, one of which is through community service in an environment where teachers or teachers can provide insurance literacy in accordance with the goals of TVP in schools or community communities. TVP has succeeded in providing online training, online tests and then providing literacy to the community by 37 teachers and teaching staff throughout Indonesia, both in junior high schools, high schools, and universities.     Global Positioning System Resurvey of Southern California Seismic Network Stations

    Systematic errors in travel-time data from local earthquakes can sometimes be traced to inaccuracies in the published seismic station coordinates. This prompted a resurvey of the stations of the Caltech/USGS Southern California Seismic Network (SCSN) using the Global Positioning System (GPS). We surveyed 241 stations of the SCSN using Trimble and Ashtech dual-frequency GPS receivers and calculated positions accurate to 3 m using differential positioning from carrier phase measurements. Twelve percent of the stations that were surveyed were found to be mislocated by more than 500 m. Stations of the TERRAscope and USC networks were also surveyed, as well as a network of portable seismic stations deployed shortly after the 1992 Joshua Tree and Landers earthquakes. The new coordinates and the offsets from the old coordinates are given below. The new coordinates are being used in SCSN locations as of 1 January 1994

    Mechanisms Driving the Effect of Weight Loss on Arterial Stiffness

    Aims Arterial stiffness decreases with weight loss in overweight and obese adults, but the mechanisms by which this occurs are poorly understood. We aimed to elucidate these mechanisms. Methods We evaluated carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV), a measure of aortic stiffness, and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), a mixed measure of central and peripheral arterial stiffness, in 344 young adults (mean age 38 yrs, mean body mass index (BMI) 32.9 kg/m2, 23% male) at baseline, 6 and 12 months in a behavioral weight loss intervention. Linear mixed effects models were used to evaluate associations between weight loss and arterial stiffness and to examine the degree to which improvements in obesity-related factors explained these associations. Pattern-mixture models using indicator variables for dropout pattern and Markov Chain Monte Carlo multiple imputation were used to evaluate the influence of different missing data assumptions. Results At 6 months (7% mean weight loss from baseline), there was a statistically significant median decrease of 47.5 cm/s (interquartile range (IQR) -44.5, 148) in cfPWV (p<0.0001) and a mean decrease of 11.7 cm/s (standard deviation (SD) 91.4) in baPWV (p=0.049). At 12 months (6% mean weight loss from baseline) only cfPWV remained statistically significantly reduced from baseline (p=0.02). Change in BMI (p=0.01) was statistically significantly positively associated with change in cfPWV after adjustment for changes in mean arterial pressure (MAP) or any other measured obesity-related factor. Common carotid artery diameter (p=0.003) was associated and heart rate (p=0.08) and MAP (p=0.07) marginally associated longitudinally with cfPWV. Reductions in heart rate (p<0.0001) and C-reactive protein (p=0.02) were associated with reduced baPWV, and each removed the statistical significance of the effect of weight loss on baPWV. Pattern-mixture modeling revealed several differences between completers and non-completers in the models for cfPWV, but marginal parameter estimates changed little from the original models for either PWV measure. Conclusions The public health importance of this thesis is that firstly, weight loss improves arterial stiffness in overweight and obese young adults. Secondly, its effect on baPWV may be explained by concurrent reductions in heart rate and inflammation. Missing data did not appear to bias these results

    Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry compared with anthropometry in relation to cardio-metabolic risk factors in a young adult population: Is the ‘Gold Standard’ tarnished?

    Background and Aims: Assessment of adiposity using dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) has been considered more advantageous in comparison to anthropometryfor predicting cardio-metabolic risk in the older population, by virtue of its ability to distinguish total and regional fat. Nonetheless, there is increasing uncertainty regarding the relative superiority of DXA and little comparative data exist in young adults. This study aimed to identify which measure of adiposity determined by either DXA or anthropometry is optimal within a range of cardio-metabolic risk factors in young adults. Methods and Results: 1138 adults aged 20 years were assessed by DXA and standard anthropometry from the Western Australian Pregnancy Cohort (Raine) Study. Cross-sectional linear regression analyses were performed. Waist to height ratio was superior to any DXA measure with HDL-C. BMI was the superior model in relation to blood pressure than any DXA measure. Midriff fat mass (DXA) and waist circumference were comparable in relation to glucose. For all the other cardio-metabolic variables, anthropometricand DXA measures were comparable. DXA midriff fat mass compared with BMI or waist hip ratio was the superior measure for triglycerides, insulin and HOMA-IR. Conclusion: Although midriff fat mass (measured by DXA) was the superior measure with insulin sensitivity and triglycerides, the anthropometricmeasures were better or equal with various DXA measures for majority of the cardio-metabolic risk factors. Our findings suggest, clinical anthropometry is generally as useful as DXA in the evaluation of the individual cardio-metabolic risk factors in young adults

    Advanced EFL learners' beliefs about language learning and teaching: a comparison between grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary

    This paper reports on the results of a study exploring learners’ beliefs on the learning and teaching of English grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary at tertiary level. While the importance of learners’ beliefs on the acquisition process is generally recognized, few studies have focussed on and compared learners’ views on different components of the language system. A questionnaire containing semantic scale and Likert scale items probing learners’ views on grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary was designed and completed by 117 native speakers of Dutch in Flanders, who were studying English at university. The analysis of the responses revealed that (i) vocabulary was considered to be different from grammar and pronunciation, both in the extent to which an incorrect use could lead to communication breakdown and with respect to the learners’ language learning strategies, (ii) learners believed in the feasibility of achieving a native-like proficiency in all three components, and (iii) in-class grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary exercises were considered to be useful, even at tertiary level. The results are discussed in light of pedagogical approaches to language teaching

The workshop is designed to assess the state of the art of computational methods for predicting unsteady flow fields and aeroelastic response. The goals are to provide an impartial forum to evaluate the effectiveness of existing computer codes and modeling techniques, and to identify computational and experimental areas needing additional research and development. Three subject configurations have been chosen from existing wind tunnel data sets where there is pertinent experimental data available for comparison.
