New model for datasets citation and extraction reproducibility in VAMDC

In this paper we present a new paradigm for the identification of datasets extracted from the Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Centre (VAMDC) e-science infrastructure. Such identification includes information on the origin and version of the datasets, references associated to individual data in the datasets, as well as timestamps linked to the extraction procedure. This paradigm is described through the modifications of the language used to exchange data within the VAMDC and through the services that will implement those modifications. This new paradigm should enforce traceability of datasets, favour reproducibility of datasets extraction, and facilitate the systematic citation of the authors having originally measured and/or calculated the extracted atomic and molecular data.Comment: 48 page

This article deals with the development of social regulation that applies within an integrated international and commercial space. On the one hand, the European Economic Community presents an interventionist model since the founding international treatises provide, to some extent, for the harmonization and uniformity of existing social regulation in each participating state. The responsability of implementing this policy of social harmonization has been conferred on some Community-level bodies whose decisions bind the national states. On the other hand, Canada-U.S. Free-Trade Agreement does not deal with social regulation. This mater still remains within the exclusive jurisdiction of each of the two participating states and no community body has jurisdiction over the issue. The relatively low degree of integration implemented by the Agreement and the similarity of the social regulation in force in Canada and the United States explain why the Free-Trade Agreement is silent on social matters. However, if the Agreement is to be extended to some other countries, such as Mexico, the European example may become more relevant

Recent interest for the values in occupational therapy and of occupational therapists can be observed in the literature, because such values are at the heart of professional identity. Yet, studies have reported that many occupational therapists have an ambiguous professional identity and important diversity exists in academic publications regarding these values. This study aimed at determining the importance that is granted by occupational therapists to the values of occupational therapy and the values reported by occupational therapists in the literature. We wanted to verify associations between the importance granted to these values, as well as a) the number of years of professional experience and b) the fact of having undertaken training in ethics. Finally, our study also had as an objective to examine if the importance granted to specific values differed depending on the university or the professional training. A survey containing socio- demographic questions and ratings of 60 values was completed by 26 occupational therapists trained and working in Quebec. Spearman correlations, a Kruskal- Wallis test and a Mann-Whitney test were conducted. The values considered the most important by the largest and smallest number of participants were identified. Statistically significant associations were observed between the importance granted to certain values and the number of years of professional experience, having had training in ethics, and the University where this training was obtained. This exploratory study has permitted us to identify tendencies that deserve to be confirmed by a larger scale study. Our conclusions are innovative, because this is the first study reporting such associations

IT/LMS Facilitated Competency Based Education in Action! A Collaborative Approach to IT Enhanced Course Design: Our Story

Competency-based education and adaptive learning are rapidly gaining popularity. They make great sense on paper, but what do they look like in reality? The use of recognition of acquired competencies at Champlain College has allowed Transportation and Logistics services to align both. Through individualized pathways, automated emails, online quizzes, and targeted resources, Champlain has found a way to not only enrich the learning experience of candidates, but also be a great deal more efficient pedagogically and administratively

Local Geometric Consensus: A General Purpose Point Pattern-Based Tracking Algorithm

Proceedings of ACM ISMAR 2015, Fukuoka, JapanInternational audienceWe present a method which can quickly and robustly match 2D and 3D point patterns based on their sole spatial distribution , but it can also handle other cues if available. This method can be easily adapted to many transformations such as similarity transformations in 2D/3D, and affine and perspective transformations in 2D. It is based on local geometric consensus among several local matchings and a refinement scheme. We provide two implementations of this general scheme, one for the 2D homography case (which can be used for marker or image tracking) and one for the 3D similarity case. We demonstrate the robustness and speed performance of our proposal on both synthetic and real images and show that our method can be used to augment any (textured/textureless) planar objects but also 3D objects
