    Higher Order Supersymmetric Truncated Oscillators

    Get PDF
We study the supersymmetric partners of the harmonic oscillator with an infinite potential barrier at the origin and obtain the conditions under which it is possible to add levels to the energy spectrum of these systems. It is found that instead of the usual rule for non-singular potentials, where the order of the transformation corresponds to the maximum number of levels which can be added, now it is the integer part of half the order of the transformation which gives the maximum number of levels to be created.Comment: This article is a natural continuation of arXiv:1603.05173 and arXiv:1310.562

Seasonal concentration of cruise tourism in the Mediterranean

    Get PDF
This research delves into analyzing the seasonality of cruise tourism in the Mediterranean by using the decomposition of the Gini index, used in the field of cruise tourism for the first time in literature. This study specifically used the decomposition to evaluate the contribution degree of each port to the global seasonal concentration of each Mediterranean region. Moreover, a cluster analysis technique (bootstrapped bagged clustering) was applied to classify the ports into homogeneous groups according to their seasonal patterns given the significant heterogeneity revealed in the major regions of the Mediterranean. The methodology applied can serve as a control and monitoring tool for measuring seasonal concentration levels in cruise tourism, allowing for policies against seasonality to be tailored in the cruise tourism segment.Universidad de Málaga. Exact Statistical Characterization of 2×22\times2 Gram Matrices with Arbitrary Variance Profile

This paper is concerned with the statistical properties of the Gram matrix W=HH†\mathbf{W}=\mathbf{H}\mathbf{H}^\dagger, where H\mathbf{H} is a 2×22\times2 complex central Gaussian matrix whose elements have arbitrary variances. With such arbitrary variance profile, this random matrix model fundamentally departs from classical Wishart models and presents a significant challenge as the classical analytical toolbox no longer directly applies. We derive new exact expressions for the distribution of W\mathbf{W} and that of its eigenvalues by means of an explicit parameterization of the group of unitary matrices. Our results yield remarkably simple expressions, which are further leveraged to study the outage data rate of a dual-antenna communication system under different variance profiles.Comment: 6 pages, 1 figure, 1 tabl

The effects of excitation waveforms and shaker moving mass on the measured modal characteristics of a 2- by 5-foot aluminum plate

Ground vibration tests were conducted to compare and to investigate the effects of five excitation waveforms and the shaker moving mass (equipment and armature used to attach the shaker to the structure) on the experimental modal characteristics of a 2- by 5-ft aluminum plate using fast Fourier transform techniques. The five types of excitation waveforms studied were sine dwell, random, impact, sine sweep, and impulsive sine. The results showed that the experimental modal frequencies for all types of excitation were within 3 percent, while the modal damping data exhibited greater scatter. The sets of mode shapes obtained by the five types of excitation were consistent. The results of the shaker moving mass investigation on the 2- by 5-ft aluminum plate showed that modal frequency decreases and modal damping remains relatively constant with an increase in shaker moving mass. The generalized mass of the structure appears to decrease with an increase in shaker moving mass. In addition, it was seen that having a shaker near a node line can reduce some of the effects of the added shaker moving mass on the frequencies and the damping
