    Current status and perspectives of mollusc (bivalves and gastropods) culture in the Spanish Mediterranean

    This is a review of the current status, problems and perspectives of bivalve and gastropod culture in the Spanish Mediterranean. Along this coast, bivalve culture has traditionally been located in the two Ebro Delta bays, and in the harbours of Valencia and Mahón, where the main species is the mussel. At present, the Mediterranean mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819 culture is developing in Andalusia. Ostreid culture is currently limited to two species, the Japanese oyster Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg, 1793) in the bays of the Ebro Delta, and the European oyster Ostrea edulis L., 1758 in Santa Pola (Alicante). Cultures of the grooved carpet and Japanese carpet clams, Ruditapes decussatus (L., 1758) and Ruditapes philippinarum (Adamsampersand Reeve, 1850), are located only in the shallow areas of the Ebro Delta. In addition, beds of several species of clams and scallops are distributed along this coast, including the truncate donax Donax trunculus L., 1758, the striped venus Chamelea gallina (L., 1758), the tuberculate cockle Acanthocardia tuberculata (L., 1758) and the smooth callista Callista chione (L., 1758).En este trabajo se revisa la situación actual del cultivo de moluscos bivalvos y gasterópodos en el Mediterráneo español, analizando su problemática y sus perspectivas de futuro. De todo el litoral, el cultivo de moluscos se ha concentrado tradicionalmente en las dos bahías del delta del Ebro y en los puertos de Valencia y Mahón, con el mejillón Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819 como la especie de mayor producción, cuyo cultivo, recientemente, se está desarrollando con éxito en Andalucía. El cultivo de ostreidos se limita en la actualidad a dos especies: el ostrón Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg, 1793) en las bahías del delta del Ebro y la ostra plana Ostrea edulis L., 1758 en Santa Pola (Alicante). El cultivo de almejas Ruditapes decussatus (L., 1758) y R. philippinarum (Adamsampersand Reeve, 1850) se realiza en el delta del Ebro.     An entomological survey was carried out in 2007 in two Pyrenean counties of Lleida province (northeastern Spain), where cases of autochthonous canine leishmaniasis have been recently reported. Phlebotomus ariasi and P. perniciosus, vectors of Leishmania infantum in the Mediterranean area, were captured. The aim of the present study was to compare these phlebotomine populations with others captured in known leishmaniasis foci in Europe. Populations of these species were studied by analysing the polymorphism of seven enzymatic systems (HK, PGI, PGM, MDH, 6PGD, FUM and ACO) and compared with other specimens from endemic regions of France, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain captured in other campaigns, and also with previously published results. Phlebotomus ariasi was more polymorphic than P. perniciosus. Only the ACO locus had diagnostic alleles, but some other alleles show high characteristic frequencies for each species. The neighbourjoining trees separated two population groups in both species. On the basis of the isoenzyme study results, sand fly populations of the Pyrenean region in Lleida province are closely related to those of other nearby leishmaniasis endemic regions in France and Spain

    Se aporta un catálogo florístico de 313 táxones seleccionados procedentes de algunas de las sierras septentrionales del Sistema Ibérico aragonés: Sierras de Villarroya, Vicort, Cucalón y Retuerta, Monte de Herrera, la Modorra de Bádenas y Baños de Segura. La visita a algunas de las localidades clásicas de ASSO, ha permitido confirmar numerosas citas de las que aparecen en su Synopsis stirpium indigenarum Aragoniae (1779), así como establecer algunas sinonimias. En el aspecto nomenclatural se propone una nueva combinación: Androsace elongata L. subsp. breistrofferi (Charpin & Greuter) J . Molero & JM. Montserrat, comb. nova. En el aspecto corológico, una lista, que no pretende ser exahustiva, sobre novedades para la Flora aragonesa y otras especies escasamente citadas que incluye: Paronychia rouyana, Suene scabriflora, Sisymbrium macroloma, Hutera hispida, Saxifraga losae var. camarae, Rosa arvensis, Aphanes cornucopioides, Lathyrus cirrhosus, Trifolium retusum, Trifolium gemellum, Seseli cantabricum, Daucus durieua, Anthemis alpestris fma. ligulata , Hieracium castellanum, Festuca capillifolia , Avenula pubescens, Carex tomentosa, etc

    El diagnóstico serológico de la leishmaniosis canina en la comarca del Priorat (Tarragona)

    Se investiga la presencia de anticuerpos anti-Leishmania mediante una técnica de «Dot-ELISA» en 1.328 muestras de sangre procedentes de 902 perros de la comarca del Priorat (Cataluña), importante foco de leishmaniosis canina. El umbral de positividad para la mencionada técnica (11800) se establece a partir de los datos obtenidos al realizar en paralelo cultivo y serología. Los resultados serológicos obtenidos permiten observar una tasa de prevalencia de la infección de 10,2%. Tan sólo el 49,8 % de los sueros estudiados son totalmente negativos. Al 40 % restante se le detecta anticuerpos anti-Leishmania a títulos inferiores al umbral establecido cuyo posible significado se discute.The presence of anti-Leishmania antibodies is studied in 1328 blood samples from 902 dogs from the Priorat region (Catalonia), an important focus of canine leúhmaniosú, by a Dot-ELISA technique.
