Differences in relationship satisfaction, sexual satisfaction and attachment styles between victims and non-victims of Child Sexual Abuse.
Treball Final de Grau en Psicologia. Codi: PS1048. Curs: 2018/2019.Introduction: Prevalence of child sexual abuse is close to 15%, being more frequent
in women and when it is perpetrated by known people. Some research indicates that victims
of CSA may be at risk factor of developing of psychological problems in the short and long
term.
Objective: Analizing the relationship between CSA, levels of dyadic and sexual
satisfaction and attachment styles.
Method: The Sexual Victimization Sub-scale of the Spanish adaptation of the Juvenile
Victimization Questionnaire (Hamby et al., 2005), the Spanish adaptation of the Relationship
Assessment Scale (Melero, 2008), the New Sexual Satisfaction Scale (Štulhoffer, 2010) and
the Adult Attachment Questionnaire (Melero & Cantero, 2008), were administered to 164
participants aged between 18 and 59 (M=32.98, SD=10.17).
Results: 71.89% of the participants were victims of CSA, of which 88.89% were
women. In 83.13% of the cases, the abuse was produced by a known person. Statistically
significant differences were found between victims and non-victims in sexual satisfaction,
especially at the individual level, in victims abused by unknown persons by touching
(p=0,004), by their peers (p=0,038) and victims of complete abuse (p=0,026). Statistically
significant differences were also found in affective insecurity regarding low self-esteem,
need for approval, fear of rejection (Factor 1), emotional self-sufficiency and discomfort with
intimacy (Factor 4). The largest effect size with respect to the establishment of the link was
found in the group of peer abuse in Factor 1 (d=0,99) and by unknown persons in Factor 4
(d=0,99).
Discussion: These findings provide relevant data on the characterization of CSA,
essential information for the design of treatments focused on victims of abuse and which
highlights need to act from different levels of intervention.
problemas psicológicos a corto y largo plazo.
a nosaltres.
humà, entre 20.000 i 25.000 gens. Addicionalment, tots aquests gens estan molt conservats
malalties i poder desenvolupar noves estratègies terapèutiques.Animal experimentation is essential to allow the adequate interpretation of the human
genome and to reproduce the pathologies that affect us, as human beings, in other similar
organisms. Among them, mice stand up as a small size mammal that is very suitable for
research in biomedicine. The mouse genome has also been sequenced and, mostly, shares
with the human genome the number of existing gens, situated between 20.000 and 25.000
genes. Additionally, all these genes have been highly conserved through evolution, thus
being 95% similar to the corresponding human versions. For all this, research on genes
from the mouse genome, indirectly, is also research on the function of human genes.
Everything that we can learn by investigating the function of specific genes in the mouse
can be applied to our knowledge on the corresponding homologous genes in humans. Finally,
mice also allow the manipulation of their genome through genetic modification
techniques. These are known as transgenic or mutant mice, carrying new genes or specif -
ic alterations in some of their genes. With them, it is possible to generate animal models
of many diseases affecting humans, to increase our knowledge on them and to eventually
be able to develop new therapeutic strategies
Animals modificats genèticament: ratolins transgènics i mutants : definició, obtenció i aplicacions en biologia, biomedicina i biotecnologia
Once it has been possible to obtain the genetic information present in the genome it is
necessary to interpret it. In particular, currently, one of the most important challenges of
Biology is to find out the function of every single gene located in the genome. Among the
techniques known as functional genomics, those bringing more information are the genetic
manipulation of animal, the generation and analysis of transgenic and mutant animals.
With these strategies, it is possible to over-express a given gene, or trigger its function in
places other than the usual, and then to infer which would be its normal function from
the observed phenotype, the observed traits in the produced transgenic animal model. Or,
even better, it is possible to specifically inactivate the function of a given gene, either in all
cells of the body or only within a subset of them, and then to analyse the effects associated
with this mutation during development and throughout the adulthood of the generated
animal. Either way, the genetic modification of animals allows us the direct assessment of
the corresponding gene function and hence, to derive its physiological relevance within
the whole organism. What follows, it contains the description of the most common techniques
of generating transgenic and mutant animals and their applications in the fields of
Biology, Biomedicine and Biotechnology

Communication about genetic editing : CRISPR, between optimism and false expectations
Communication is essential in all areas of society, but communication in science is inescapable. Communicating means sharing, showing, teaching, and transferring knowledge about discoveries, observations, and findings both to colleagues and to society in general. That is why good communication must always accompany good science. CRISPR genetic editing tools allow us to modify, at will, the genome of any living organism, including our own species. In this text I review the different relevant communicative events in the short but intense life of these «molecular scissors», so called for their ability to cut the DNA molecule effectively and with precision
SNR-calibrated Type Ia supernova models
Current Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) models can reproduce most visible+IR + UV observations. In the X-ray band, the determination of elemental abundance ratios in supernova remnants (SNRs) through their spectra has reached enough precision to constrain SN Ia models. Martínez-Rodríguez et al have shown that the Ca/S mass ratio in SNRs cannot be reproduced with the standard nuclear reaction rates for a wide variety of SN Ia models, and suggested that the 12C+16O reaction rate could be overestimated by a factor as high as ten. We show that the same Ca/S ratio can be obtained by simultaneously varying the rates of the reactions 12C + 16O, 12C + 12C, 16O + 16O, and 16O(¿, a)12C within the reported uncertainties. We also show that the yields of the main products of SN Ia nucleosynthesis do not depend on the details of which rates are modified, but can be parametrized by an observational quantity such as Ca/S. Using this SNR-calibrated approach, we then proceed to compute a new set of SN Ia models and nucleosynthesis for both Chandrasekhar and sub-Chandrasekhar mass progenitors with a 1D hydrodynamics and nucleosynthesis code. We discuss the nucleosynthesis of the models as a function of progenitor metallicity, mass, and deflagration-to-detonation transition density. The yields of each model are almost independent on the reaction rates modified for a common Ca/S ratio.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Traducir por arte de magia : estudio de los neologismos en "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone"
Treball Final de Grau en Traducció i Interpretació. Codi: TI0983.
