Palabras clave: Salinomicina, Nicarbazina, Eimeria sp., escore de lesiones, pollos de engorde--- This study aimed to determine the score of macroscopic intestinal lesions of coccidiosis in broiler chickens challenged with strains of local field E. acervulina, E. maxima and E. tenella and supplemented with an anticoccidial program (Salinomycin / nicarbazin). A tensor optimization algorithm for Bézier Shape Deformation

    Get PDF
In this paper we propose a tensor based description of the Bézier Shape Deformation (BSD) algorithm, denoted as T-BSD. The BSD algorithm is a well-known technique, based on the deformation of a Bézier curve through a field of vectors. A critical point in the use of real-time applications is the cost in computational time. Recently, the use of tensors in numerical methods has been increasing because they drastically reduce computational costs. Our formulation based in tensors T-BSD provides an efficient reformulation of the BSD algorithm. More precisely, the evolution of the execution time with respect to the number of curves of the BSD algorithm is an exponentially increasing curve. As the numerical experiments show, the T-BSD algorithm transforms this evolution into a linear one. This fact allows to compute the deformation of a Bézier with a much lower computational cost

The Proper Generalized Decomposition or, for short, PGD is a tensor decomposition based technique to solve PDE problems. It reduces calculation and storage cost drastically and presents some similarities with the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition, for short POD. In this work, we propose an efficient implementation to improve the convergence of the PGD, toward the numerical solution of a discretized PDE problem, when the associated matrix is Laplacian-like.The first author was partially supported by PRCEU-UCH 30/10 by Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrer

As a result of the increment of population in countries of Europe, a lot of efforts from European Authorities are coming from. In our research we want to bring forward a suite of developments related to build a ubiquitous AAL (Ambient Assisted Living) environment. We consider that recent approaches are based on ad-hoc technologies so its application is in this context isolated just in one domain of application. Our approach addresses to a reliable services platform for heterogeneous devices integration. On this basis we want to consider as well, the underlying benefits that a Service-oriented platform is giving to us in our Ambient Assisted Living Applications.Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TSI2006-13390-C02-02Junta de Andalucía TIC-2141Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio TSI-020400-2008-11

Decent Work as a Necessary Condition for Sustainable Well-Being. A Tale of Pi(i)gs and Farmers

    Get PDF
This article analyzes with a holistic and systematic approach the state of working conditions in the European labor market after the crisis, as well as their effects on worker well-being. For this, a distinction will be made between the southern countries most affected, namely Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, and Spain (Piigs), and the northern countries that are, a priori, less damaged by the crisis (Farmers). The samples integrate 7867 workers from the five Piigs countries (36.2%) and 13,894 from the 10 Farmers countries (63.8%). The results have broadly confirmed the research purposes and they established that ensuring well-being is the key to sustainability, growth, and success for workers, groups, and organizations

On the Existence of a Progressive Variational Vademecum based on the Proper Generalized Decomposition for a Class of Elliptic Parameterized Problems

    Get PDF
In this study, we present the mathematical analysis needed to explain the convergence of a progressive variational vademecum based on the proper generalized decomposition (PGD). The PGD is a novel technique that was developed recently for solving problems with high dimensions, and it also provides new approaches for obtaining the solutions of elliptic and parabolic problems via the abstract separation of variables method. This new scenario requires a mathematical framework in order to justify its application to the solution of numerical problems and the PGD can help in the change to this paradigm. The main aim of this study is to provide a mathematical environment for defining the notion of progressive variational vademecum. We prove the convergence of this iterative procedure and we also provide the first order optimality conditions in order to construct the numerical approximations of the parameterized solutions. In particular, we illustrate this methodology based on a robot path planning problem. This is one of the common tasks when designing the trajectory or path of a mobile robot. The construction of a progressive variational vademecum provides a novel methodology for computing all the possible paths from any start and goal positions derived from a harmonic potential field in a predefined map

An autonomic framework for enhancing the quality of data grid services

    Get PDF
Data grid services have been used to deal with the increasing needs of applications in terms of data volume and throughput. The large scale, heterogeneity and dynamism of grid environments often make management and tuning of these data services very complex. Furthermore, current high-performance I/O approaches are characterized by their high complexity and specific features that usually require specialized administrator skills. Autonomic computing can help manage this complexity. The present paper describes an autonomic subsystem intended to provide self-management features aimed at efficiently reducing the I/O problem in a grid environment, thereby enhancing the quality of service (QoS) of data access and storage services in the grid. Our proposal takes into account that data produced in an I/O system is not usually immediately required. Therefore, performance improvements are related not only to current but also to any future I/O access, as the actual data access usually occurs later on. Nevertheless, the exact time of the next I/O operations is unknown. Thus, our approach proposes a long-term prediction designed to forecast the future workload of grid components. This enables the autonomic subsystem to determine the optimal data placement to improve both current and future I/O operations
