Analysis of Insect-Plant Interactions Affected by Mining Operations, A Graph Mining Approach

The decline in ecological connections signifies the potential extinction of species, which can be attributed to disruptions and alterations. The decrease in interconnections among species reflects their susceptibility to changes. For example, certain insects and plants that rely on exclusive interactions with a limited number of species, or even a specific species, face the risk of extinction if they lose these crucial connections. Currently, mining activities pose significant harm to natural ecosystems, resulting in various adverse environmental impacts. In this study, we utilized network science techniques to analyze the ecosystem in a graph-based structure, aiming to conserve the ecosystem affected by mining operations in the northern region of Scotland. The research encompasses identifying the most vital members of the network, establishing criteria for identifying communities within the network, comparing, and evaluating them, using models to predict secondary extinctions that occur when a species is removed from the network, and assessing the extent of network damage. Our study's novelty is utilizing network science approaches to investigate the biological data related to interactions between insects and plants.Comment: 9 pages, 16 figure

Fuzzy Direct Torque-controlled Induction Motor Drives for Traction with Neural Compensation of Stator Resistance

    Get PDF
In this chapter, a new method for stator resistance compensation in direct torque control (DTC) drives, based on neural networks, is presented. The estimation of electromagnetic torque and stator flux linkages using the measured stator voltages and currents is crucial to the success of DTC drives. The estimation is dependent only on one machine parameter, which is the stator resistance. Changes of the stator resistances cause errors in the estimated magnitude and position of the flux linkage and therefore in the estimated electromagnetic torque. Parameter compensation by means of stator current phasor error has been proposed in literature. The proposed approach in this chapter is based on a principle that states the error between the measured current magnitude of the stator feedback and the stator’s command, verified with neural network, is proportional to the variation of the stator resistance and is mainly caused by the motor temperature and the varying stator frequency. Then the correction value of stator resistance is achieved by means of a fuzzy controller. For the first time, a combination of neural control and fuzzy control approach in stator resistance variations based on the stator current is presented. The presented approach efficiently estimates the correct value of stator resistance

Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation of Atrioventricular Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia: It Is Not Always As It Is Expected

Observation of Coincident arrhythmias is not uncommon but the co-existence of idiopathic verapamil sensitive left ventricular tachycardia (ILVT) with other arrhythmias is very rare. We hereby presented a 30 year old male patient with a history of frequent episodes of palpitations and sustained narrow complex tachycardia. During electrophysiologic study two arrhythmias, one with narrow complexes which was shown to be typical atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia and the other with wide QRS complexes and right bundle branch block and left axis morphology, compatible with ILVT, were inducible. Radiofrequency catheter ablation of both arrhythmias was done at two consecutive sessions. The patient has remained asymptomatic without antiarrhythmic therapy for the past six months

A positive and elementary stable nonstandard explicit scheme for a mathematical model of the influenza disease

    Get PDF
[EN]In this paper, a nonstandard explicit discretization strategy is considered to construct a new nonstandard finite difference scheme for solving a mathematical model of the influenza disease. The new proposed scheme has some interesting properties such as high accuracy and ease of implementation, as well as some preserving properties of the exact theoretical solution of the SIRC system, like positivity and elementary stability. These characteristics make it suitable for solving efficiently the propose model. We provide some numerical comparisons to illustrate our results

An inclusive educational program must include some planning for social embracement for students with special needs to be more effective. This is usually done by teachers. Therefore, the main goal of this study is to find out about the role and station of teacher in forming the social skills of the students with special needs and disabilities in an inclusive education system. This is a descriptive-analytical study which falls under the descriptive research category. In this work, a collection of theories and perspectives by specialists in the field of disabled children education was analyzed. The findings show that the teacher has an important role in enhancing the social skills of students with disabilities. It is on this basis that the teacher can take advantage of various techniques and approaches such as collective learning and same-age teaching that he makes some efforts in teaching some social skills to students with disability so they can fulfill their educational, financial and especially social goals. Expansion of social skills in disabled students can significantly increase their ability in getting along with others and conducting appropriate socially acceptable behaviors, their popularity among their peers, teachers, parents and other adults and independence in their personal life. Designing a Comprehensive Model for Selecting the Best Fuel in Natural Gas Value Chain (A case study in Iran)

    Get PDF
The global interest in using natural gas has increased considerably, and some factors such as low cost, safety, availability, environmental advantages, technological development, and its applications especially for gas turbines, have caused petroleum fuels replaced by natural gas. Many technologic solutions proposed in the market are reviewing the challenges and opportunities of using natural gas for the sake of knowing the relevant productive ways. As one of these solutions, in this article, a model for selecting the best fuel in the natural gas value chain through four options has been introduced, Compressed Natural Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas, Dimethyl Ether, and Gas-To-Liquids. Based on a comprehensive study, the criteria affecting the decision are determined. Then, using a Delphi method and expert judgments, 20 final criteria were selected. After that, the criteria were ranked; using a group consensus among the experts with Kendall's coefficient of concordance equal to 0.808. To transform the ranks into the weights, the paper uses the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) method. Finally, the best fuel is determined, with the use of the Combined Compromise Solution (COCOSO) method. The results have shown that at first LNG and then CNG is the best options for Iran. The realities of the world are verifying the accuracy of the model

Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Micro-Silica and Zeolite on Repair Mortar of Concrete Pavements

In the recent years, by replacing a part of our country’s asphalt pavements with concrete pavements, it is necessary to perform appropriate actions in order to preserve and repair destructions (due to executive weaknesses, loading and environmental conditions) during pavement lifetime. In order to increase mechanical properties and durability of repair mortars, micro-silica and zeolite were used as pozzolan, polypropylene fibers for controlling crack (due to fluctuations in concrete and temperature change) and the cement type 3 for obtaining high resistivity in short-term. In this study, 11mixing designs were investigated, and the composition of polypropylene fibers with micro-scale thickness with cement complements can be considered as the most optimal mixing design in 0.2% of fibers with 10% micro-silica and 15% zeolite in order to promote effective parameters of elasticity modulus, modulus of rupture and decrease of contraction in repair mortars of concrete pavements. By adding polypropylene fibers, the samples were not completely ruptured in the tension of primary strength that they showed. The samples containing 0.4% fibers with deformation from spherical state to elliptical state with splay value in rupture surface showed individual characteristic which caused minimizing rupture and crunch in the repaired area.In the recent years, by replacing a part of our country's asphalt pavements with concrete pavements, it is necessary to perform appropriate actions in order to preserve and repair destructions (due to executive weaknesses, loading and environmental conditions) during pavement lifetime.
