A Critique on the Usage of Mosher’s Sexual Guilt Scale in Psychology and Psychiatry Researches in Islamic Societies: Cultural Differences in the Meaning of Sexual Guilt
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Due to the increasing use of questionnaires as simple and accessible tools to measure psychological constructs it is necessary to evaluate these tools in terms of Cross-Cultural Adaptation. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the Cross-Cultural Adaptation of the Mouser sexual guilt questionnaire.METHODS: This research is a descriptive cross-sectional study. The statistical population of the study consisted of all sexual health psychologists who either they were seminary educated (educated at hawzah) or educated abroad. The study sample was selected in a purposeful manner. Each group consisted of 20 experts who they expressed their views on the Items of the Mosher Sex-Guilt scale. Data were analyzed using independent t-test for independent groups.RESULTS: The results showed that there is a significant difference between the seminaries educated specialists and educated abroad specialists. In other words, the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that indicate sexual guilt differ between the two groups of professionals.CONCLUSION: Sexual guilt is a culture-bounded concept. Behavior, thoughts, and beliefs that are considered as sexual guilt in one culture and their existence can harm one's sexual health may be considered acceptable in another culture
Growth, production and food preference of rohu Labeo rohita (H.)in monoculture and in polyculture with common carp Cyprinus carpio (L.) under fed and non-fed ponds
An experiment was carried out in 18 earthen ponds to investigate the effects of the addition of common carp Cyprinus carpio (L.) and artificial feed on natural food availability, food utilization and fish production in rohu Labeo rohita (Hamilton) ponds. Ponds were fertilized fortnightly with cow manure, urea and triple super phosphate. Rohu was stocked in all ponds at a density of 1.5 rohu m-2. All treatments were carried out in triplicate. Treatments were: rohu with and without formulated feed, rohu plus 0.5 common carp m-2 with and without feed, and rohu plus 1 common carp m-2 with and without feed. The time period between stocking and harvesting was four and half months. Stocking 0.5 common carp m-2 enhanced natural food availability in the pond, food utilization and rohu growth and production (P0.05) but increased zooplankton and benthic macroinvertebrate availability (P<0.001). Feed administration also enhanced growth of rohu and common carp (P<0.001). Rohu naturally ingests more phytoplankton than zooplankton but in the presence of formulated feed rohu shifted its natural food preference from phytoplankton to zooplankton. Common carp naturally ingests mainly zooplankton and benthic macroinvertebrate and small quantities of phytoplankton. However, when offered formulated feed, the latter becomes the preferred food item
The synergistic effect of borax and chlorinated paraffin as flame – retardants for epoxy and unsaturated polyester resins
In this investigation , borax (B) (additive I) and chlorinated paraffin (CP.) (additive II) ,were used as flame retardants for each of epoxy and unsaturated polyester resins in the weight ratios of 2,4,6, & 8% by preparing films of (130×130×3) mm dimensions. Also films of these resins with a mixture of [50%(B.)+50%(CP.)] (additive III) in the same weight ratios were prepared in order to study the synergistic effect of these additives on the flammability of the two resins .
Three standard test methods were used to measure the flame retardation which are :
1-ASTM : D-2863
2-ASTM : D-635
3-ASTM : D-3014
The results obtained from these tests indicated that the additives (B),(CP.) and their mixture , gave a good effect as flame retardants for each epoxy and unsaturated polyester resins , but their synergistic effect was more effective than each of them alone.
Finally , the compatibility between the additives and resins (which showed a clear effect on retardation) was also studied
Cooperation of Helix Insertion and Lateral Pressure to Remodel Membranes
Nature has developed different protein mediated mechanisms to remodel cellular membranes. One of the proteins that is implicated in these processes is α-synuclein (αS). Here we investigate if besides αS's membrane bound amphipathic helix the disordered, solvent exposed tail of the protein contributes to membrane reshaping. We produced αS variants with elongated or truncated disordered solvent exposed domains. We observe a transformation of opaque multi lamellar vesicle solutions into nonscattering solutions containing smaller structures upon addition of all αS variants. Experimental data combined with model calculations show that the cooperation of helix insertion and lateral pressure exerted by the disordered domain makes the full length protein decidedly more efficient in membrane remodeling than the truncated version. Using disordered domains may not only be cost-efficient, it may also add a new level of control over vesicle fusion/fission by expansion or compaction of the domain
B-> K photon photon via intermediate eta'
We examine our previous conjecture that the eta' intermediate resonance has
the dominant role in the long distance contributions to B decay into two
photons and a strange final state hadron. We calculate the branching ratio of
the exclusive B-> K eta'-> K photon photon decay using the nonspectator
mechanism for eta' production in charmless hadronic B decays. It is shown that
the obtained branching ratio B^eta'(B-> K\gamma\gamma)~ 8.7 X 10^{-7} is more
than twice as large as the eta_c contribution to this decay mode.Comment: 6 pages, latex, no figure
Clinical predictors of all‐cause mortality in patients presenting to specialist heart failure clinic with raised NT‐proBNP and no heart failure
Aims
Clinical outcomes for patients suspected of having heart failure (HF) who do not meet the diagnostic criteria of any type of HF by echocardiography remain unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical predictors of all‐cause mortality in patients with suspected HF, a raised N‐terminal pro‐b‐type natriuretic peptide (NTproBNP) and who do not meet the diagnostic criteria of any type of HF by echocardiography.
Methods and results
Relevant data were taken from the S heffield HEA rt F ailure (SHEAF) registry (222349P4). The inclusion criteria were presence of symptoms raising suspicion of HF, NTproBNP > 400 pg/mL, and preserved left ventricular function. Exclusion criteria were any type of HF by echocardiography. The outcome was defined as all‐cause mortality. Cox proportional‐hazards regression model was used to investigate the association between the survival time of patients and clinical variables; 1031 patients were identified with NTproBNP > 400 pg/mL but who did not have echocardiographic evidence of HF. All‐cause mortality was 21.5% (222 deaths) over the mean follow‐up (FU) period of 6 ± 2 years. NTproBNP was similar in patients who were alive or dead (P = 0.96). However, age (HR 1, P 627 pg/mL, NYHA class predicted death (II, 19.6%; III, 27.4%; IV, 66.7%; P < 0.01).
Conclusions
Patients with no HF on echocardiography but raised NTproBNP suffer excess mortality particularly in the presence of certain clinical variables. Age, male gender, worsening CKD stage, presence of COPD, and dementia are independently associated with all‐cause mortality in these patients. An NTproBNP > 627 pg/mL coupled with NYHA class could identify patients at greatest risk of death
Ventricular assist device implantation in a patient with systemic right ventricle and pectus excavatum
Systemic right ventricular failure is a common finding in patients with transposition of the great arteries. Some of these patients require ventricular assist device implantation. We describe the feasibility of HeartMate 3 [Abbott, Illinois, United States] implantation in a patient with transposition of the great arteries, high human leukocyte antigen sensitization, and severe pectus excavatum using a two-stage approach. Learning objectives: 1. To notice the challenges faced while implanting HeartMate 3 [Abbott, Illinois, United States] in patients with congenital heart disease and anatomical limitations. 2. To understand that despite the difficulties, HeartMate 3 implantation is possible, worthwhile, and sometimes the only choice in a patient with end-stage heart failure and congenital heart disease
Phytochemical Screening and Proximate Analysis of Balanites aegyptiaca Kernel
Study on the evaluation of nutritional quality as well phytochemical screening of poorly utilized plant products is of immense importance. This research work was aimed at screening the phytochemicals as well as proximate analysis of Balanites aegyptiaca kernel using standard methods. Phytochemical screening of the kernel reveal the presence of Alkaloids, Cardiac glycosides, Flavonoids, Phytosterols, Reducing sugars, Saponins, Steroids, Tannins and Volatile oils with the absence of Anthraquinones and Phenolic compounds. Quantification of the phytochemicals content shows a high content of Saponins, Flavonoids, Cardiac glycosides, Alkaloids and Tannins. Proximate analysis of the kernel shows high Lipid and Protein content with very low carbohydrates and crude fiber, ash and moisture content. Hexatic-Herringbone Coupling at the Hexatic Transition in Smectic Liquid Crystals: 4- Renormalization Group Calculations Revisited
Simple symmetry considerations would suggest that the transition from the
smectic-A phase to the long-range bond orientationally ordered hexatic
smectic-B phase should belong to the XY universality class. However, a number
of experimental studies have constantly reported over the past twenty years
"novel" critical behavior with non-XY critical exponents for this transition.
Bruinsma and Aeppli argued in Physical Review Letters {\bf 48}, 1625 (1982),
using a renormalization-group calculation, that short-range
molecular herringbone correlations coupled to the hexatic ordering drive this
transition first order via thermal fluctuations, and that the critical behavior
observed in real systems is controlled by a `nearby' tricritical point. We have
revisited the model of Bruinsma and Aeppli and present here the results of our
study. We have found two nontrivial strongly-coupled herringbone-hexatic fixed
points apparently missed by those authors. Yet, those two new nontrivial
fixed-points are unstable, and we obtain the same final conclusion as the one
reached by Bruinsma and Aeppli, namely that of a fluctuation-driven first order
transition. We also discuss the effect of local two-fold distortion of the bond

Cardiac MRI for the prognostication of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Background
Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is emerging as an important imaging tool in the assessment of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to synthesise and consolidate the current literature on cardiac MRI for prognostication of HFpEF.
Methods design
Systematic review and meta-analysis. Data sources: Scopus (PubMed and Embase) for studies published between 2008 and 2019. Eligibility criteria for study selection were studies that evaluated the prognostic role of cardiac MRI in HFpEF. Random effects meta-analyses of the reported hazard ratios (HR) for clinical outcomes was performed.
Results
Initial screening identified 97 studies. From these, only nine (9%) studies met all the criteria. The main cardiac MRI methods that demonstrated association to prognosis in HFpEF included late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) assessment of scar (n = 3), tissue characterisation with T1-mapping (n = 4), myocardial ischaemia (n = 1) and right ventricular dysfunction (RVSD) (n = 1). The pooled HR for all 9 studies was 1.52 (95% CI 1.05–1.99, P < 0.01). Sub-evaluation by cardiac MRI methods revealed varying HRs: LGE (net n = 402, HR = 1.6, 95% CI 0.42–2.78, P = 0.008); T1-mapping (n = 1623, HR = 1.25, 95% CI 0.891–1.60, P < 0.001); myocardial ischaemia or RVSD (n = 325, HR = 3.19, 95% CI 0.30–6.08, P = 0.03).
Conclusion
This meta-analysis demonstrates that multiparametric cardiac MRI has value in prognostication of patients with HFpEF. HFpEF patients with a detectable scar on LGE, fibrosis on T1-mapping, myocardial ischaemia or RVSD appear to have a worse prognosis.
