Computational Exploration of the Interaction of Molecular Hydrogen with an Anionic Hydrogen Atom
The focus of this dissertation is to facilitate the computation of the infrared absorption line shape of solid para-hydrogen with an anionic hydrogen atom dopant. For this, we compute the complete potential energy surface for the interaction of H¯ with H2. The coupled cluster with singles, doubles, and perturbative treatment of triple excitations method was used with augmented correlationconsistent polarized valence triple-zeta atom-centered basis sets and a set of bonding functions.
The focus then turns to describing the rovibrational Hamiltonian of the system with the coupledchannel method. We find bound and quasi-bound stationary states of the system for total angular momentum J=0. We also show plots of the wavefunctions of these systems. Using these wavefunctions and dipole moments, we can calculate the line shape of the IR spectrum of H¯/H2
A Case of a Ruptured Sclerosing Liver Hemangioma
Hemangiomas are the most common benign tumors found in the liver, typically asymptomatic, solitary, and incidentally discovered. Although vascular in nature, they rarely bleed. We report a case of a 52-year-old woman with a previously stable hemangioma who presented to our hospital with signs and symptoms indicative of spontaneous rupture. We review the literature, focusing on diagnosis and management of liver hemangiomas
(DIGITAL) GAMES DON’T CARE ABOUT SOCIAL CATEGORIZATIONS: ENABLING INCLUSION THROUGH GAME-BASED LEARNING IN EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS
The Global Initiative for Sustainable Development (Sustainable Development Goal 4) proclaims education for all, which means that people’s individual potentials should be promoted, their heterogeneous abilities and interests should be appreciated, and existing resources should be used for educational processes. In recent decades, the game-based learning approach has gained prominence in the educational landscape. The approach proclaims a paradigmatic shift in education away from efficiency-oriented, standardized testing to co-constructive, game-based learning processes. This framework opens up the research question: How can digital and analogue games contribute to enable inclusion in educational settings? The empirical data consists of audio and video recordings of an Erasmus+ workshop with 19 participants playing eleven (digital) games for approximately two hours. The data provided was secondarily analysed using the Documentary Method and a participatory research design. The results show that the players were confronted with social hierarchies and power structures while playing the games. Interestingly, players directly reflected on their actions, behaviours, and assumptions. In doing so, participants reconsidered their deeply held assumptions and habits of social categorization as games provided the space for repetitive actions. Thus, players tried different behaviours and varied multiple solution paths. Moreover, the results show that players’ self-efficacy increases during the game. The study highlights different types of (re)acting to avoid social categorization and promote inclusion

Absence of Hepatitis B Resistance Mutants before Introduction of Oral Antiviral Therapy
Introduction
. The aim of this study was to assess whether hepatitis B virus drug resistant mutations antedated the widespread use of nucleos(t)ide analogues in treatment naïve patients. A number of reports have suggested that drug resistant mutants can be detected in apparently treatment naïve patients.
Study
. Fifty deidentified serum samples collected from 1986 to 1992 from patients with replicative chronic HBV infection at the University of Miami were genotyped and tested for resistance mutations using a line probe assay InnoLiPA HBV DR v2/v3. Serum HBV DNA was measured. All patients had documented chronic HBV infection with a detectable viral load, HBeAg seropositivity, and absence of HIV infection.
Results
. Of the 50 individuals included, 86% were male, mean age was 40 ± 12 years, and mostly genotype A. The mean HBV DNA was 126 pg/mL (range 6.4 to 557.0). No mutations were identified.
Conclusions.
The absence of drug induced mutations in these sera collected several years prior to the introduction of oral antiviral therapy suggests that these mutations do not occur in treatment naïve populations. Detection of drug resistance in an apparently treatment naïve subject suggests either unrecognized prior antiviral therapy or infection by an inoculum from a treatment experienced patient
Cutaneous Metastases from Primary Hepatobiliary Tumors as the First Sign of Tumor Recurrence following Liver Transplantation
Cutaneous metastasis from hepatobiliary tumors is a rare event, especially following liver transplantation. We report our experience with two cases of cutaneous metastases from both hepatocellular carcinoma and mixed hepatocellular/cholangiocarcinoma following liver transplantation, along with a review of the literature
