This articles seeks reasons to explain the unusually high number of historical programs, particularly about the history of Catalonia, in the mass media. It attempts to demonstrate that there are specific periods of history which awaken additional interest on the part of the public in their historical past, in accordance with a specific political, socio-economic and cultural conjunction. This essay establishes a certain parallel between the near-unanimous public desire to know the true history of Catalonia and Spain during the so-called political Transition and the recent change of century, with a new statutory process taking place and a new left-wing coalition government. The author argues that recent programs on radio and television have been well done with enormous creative and distribution potential, and establishes a typological identification of the different historical programs on radio and television

Text i context. El concurs de cinema amateur «JULIUS» (1987-1996)

El «Julius» és un concurs de cinema amateur que fonamenta la seva singularitat en el fet de partir d’un text literari prefixat del qual els participants han de fer una adaptació audiovisual. En aquest article s’estudia la primera època del concurs: el seu origen, les diverses edicions en què es dugué a terme, les incidències que s’hi produïren..., i el context social i cultural que va contribuir a fer-ne un concurs amb unes característiques úniques que es concretaren en l’anomenat «esperit Julius», sorneguer, llibertari i surrealista.The «Julius» is an amateur film competition whose originality lies in the fact that the works are based on a set literary text for which participants are to make an audiovisual adaptation. In this article the early history of the competition is studied: its origin, the various years it was held, the impact it had… and the social and cultural context that has contributed to making it a competition with the unique characteristics that make up what is called the «Julius spirit », ironical, anarchic and surrealist
