    Network development of low-cost carriers in China's domestic market

    This paper examines China's LCC market and assesses the network development patterns from a geographical perspective. Overall, a nationwide LCC network has been formed with each individual LCC focusing on their own markets with limited overlap to avoid cut-throat competition. Spring Airlines has developed an advanced network supported by its core bases including Shanghai in East China, Shijiazhuang in North China, Shenyang in Northeast China and Shenzhen in South China. China United has developed a network radiating from Beijing. West Air and Lucky Air seem to be developing a hub-and-spoke network that contributes to the tourism industry in West China. The LCC network is affected by seasonal variations, especially for the routes to tourism destinations such as Haikou, Sanya and Xiamen. Hub cities, however, experience less seasonal impact. This research also finds that routes between 600 and 1800 km account for a large proportion of the LCC markets. Aviation policy, local government's subsidization and the expansion of the high-speed rail network have helped shape the landscape of China's LCC sector

    Predicting human microRNA precursors based on an optimized feature subset generated by GA–SVM

    AbstractMicroRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding RNAs that play important roles in post-transcriptional regulation. Identification of miRNAs is crucial to understanding their biological mechanism. Recently, machine-learning approaches have been employed to predict miRNA precursors (pre-miRNAs). However, features used are divergent and consequently induce different performance. Thus, feature selection is critical for pre-miRNA prediction. We generated an optimized feature subset including 13 features using a hybrid of genetic algorithm and support vector machine (GA–SVM). Based on SVM, the classification performance of the optimized feature subset is much higher than that of the two feature sets used in microPred and miPred by five-fold cross-validation. Finally, we constructed the classifier miR-SF to predict the most recently identified human pre-miRNAs in miRBase (version 16). Compared with microPred and miPred, miR-SF achieved much higher classification performance. Accuracies were 93.97%, 86.21% and 64.66% for miR-SF, microPred and miPred, respectively. Thus, miR-SF is effective for identifying pre-miRNAs

    Intracoronary artery retrograde thrombolysis combined with percutaneous coronary interventions for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction complicated with diabetes mellitus: A case report and literature review

    BackgroundThe management of a large thrombus burden in patients with acute myocardial infarction and diabetes is still a worldwide problem.Case presentationA 74-year-old Chinese woman presented with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) complicated with diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Angiography revealed massive thrombus formation in the mid-segment of the right coronary artery leading to vascular occlusion. The sheared balloon was placed far from the occlusion segment and urokinase (100,000 u) was administered for intracoronary artery retrograde thrombolysis, and thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) grade 3 blood flow was restored within 7 min. At last, one stent was accurately implanted into the culprit’s vessel. No-reflow, coronary slow flow, and reperfusion arrhythmia were not observed during this process.ConclusionIntracoronary artery retrograde thrombolysis (ICART) can be effectively and safely used in patients with STEMI along with diabetes mellitus and hypertension, even if the myocardial infarction exceeds 12 h (REST or named ICART ClinicalTrials.gov number, ChiCTR1900023849)

    Effect of dietary restriction and subsequent re-alimentation on the transcriptional profile of bovine ruminal epithelium

    peer-reviewedCompensatory growth (CG) is utilised worldwide in beef production systems as a management approach to reduce feed costs. However the underlying biology regulating the expression of CG remains to be fully elucidated. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of dietary restriction and subsequent re-alimentation induced CG on the global gene expression profile of ruminal epithelial papillae. Holstein Friesian bulls (n = 60) were assigned to one of two groups: restricted feed allowance (RES; n = 30) for 125 days (Period 1) followed by ad libitum access to feed for 55 days (Period 2) or (ii) ad libitum access to feed throughout (ADLIB; n = 30). At the end of each period, 15 animals from each treatment were slaughtered and rumen papillae harvested. mRNA was isolated from all papillae samples collected. cDNA libraries were then prepared and sequenced. Resultant reads were subsequently analysed bioinformatically and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) are defined as having a Benjamini-Hochberg P value of <0.05. During re-alimentation in Period 2, RES animals displayed CG, growing at 1.8 times the rate of their ADLIB contemporary animals in Period 2 (P < 0.001). At the end of Period 1, 64 DEGs were identified between RES and ADLIB, with only one DEG identified at the end of Period 2. When analysed within RES treatment (RES, Period 2 v Period 1), 411 DEGs were evident. Genes identified as differentially expressed in response to both dietary restriction and subsequent CG included those involved in processes such as cellular interactions and transport, protein folding and gene expression, as well as immune response. This study provides an insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying the expression of CG in rumen papillae of cattle; however the results suggest that the role of the ruminal epithelium in supporting overall animal CG may have declined by day 55 of re-alimentation.SMW received financial assistance from Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) contract no 09/ RFP/GEN2447

    Paphiopedilum wenshanense, a species of the family Orchidaceae, is endangered in the world with highly ornamental and biological value, the morphology of P. wenshanense is very similar to its relative species, P. bellatulum and P. concolor. However, there are few studies on the molecular biology and phylogeny of this species currently. Therefore, we report its complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence at the first time, hoping to provide a foundation for its future phylogenetic analysis. The complete chloroplast genome of P. wenshanense was 161,750 bp in size, which contained a large single-copy (LSC) region of 90,656 bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region of 1886 bp, and two inverted repeat (IR) regions of 34,604 bp each. The total GC content was 35.66%. The genome encodes 38 transfer RNA genes, eight ribosomal RNA genes, and 80 protein-coding genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that the genetic relationship between P. wenshanense and P. concolor was very close

    Complex biochemical reactions take place in the nucleus all the time. Transcription machines must follow the rules. The chromatin state, especially the three-dimensional structure of the genome, plays an important role in gene regulation and expression. The super enhancers are important for defining cell identity in mammalian developmental processes and human diseases. It has been shown that the major components of transcriptional activation complexes are recruited by super enhancer to form phase-separated condensates. We summarize the current knowledge about super enhancer in the 3D genome. Furthermore, a new related transcriptional regulation model from super enhancer is outlined to explain its role in the mammalian cell progress

    Variations in microbial diversity and chemical components of raw dark tea under different relative humidity storage conditions

    Raw dark tea (RDT) usually needs to be stored for a long time to improve its quality under suitable relative humidity (RH). However, the impact of RH on tea quality is unclear. In this study, we investigated the metabolites and microbial diversity, and evaluated the sensory quality of RDT stored under three RH conditions (1%, 57%, and 88%). UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS analysis identified 144 metabolites, including catechins, flavonols, phenolic acids, amino acids, and organic acids. 57% RH led to higher levels of O-methylated catechin derivatives, polymerized catechins, and flavonols/flavones when compared to 1% and 88% RH. The best score in sensory evaluation was also obtained by 57% RH. Aspergillus, Gluconobacter, Kluyvera, and Pantoea were identified as the core functional microorganisms in RDT under different RH storage conditions. Overall, the findings provided new insights into the variation of microbial communities and chemical components under different RH storage conditions

    Abstract Background Ubiquitination controls almost all cellular processes. The dysregulation of ubiquitination signals is closely associated with the initiation and progression of multiple diseases. However, there is little comprehensive research on the interaction and potential function of ubiquitination regulators (UBRs) in spermatogenesis and cancer. Methods We systematically characterized the mRNA and protein expression of UBRs across tissues and further evaluated their roles in testicular development and spermatogenesis. Subsequently, we explored the genetic alterations, expression perturbations, cancer hallmark-related pathways, and clinical relevance of UBRs in pan-cancer. Results This work reveals heterogeneity in the expression patterns of UBRs across tissues, and the expression pattern in testis is the most distinct. UBRs are dynamically expressed during testis development, which are critical for normal spermatogenesis. Furthermore, UBRs have widespread genetic alterations and expression perturbations in pan-cancer. The expression of 79 UBRs was identified to be closely correlated with the activity of 32 cancer hallmark-related pathways, and ten hub genes were screened for further clinical relevance analysis by a network-based method. More than 90% of UBRs can affect the survival of cancer patients, and hub genes have an excellent prognostic classification for specific cancer types. Conclusions Our study provides a comprehensive analysis of UBRs in spermatogenesis and pan-cancer, which can build a foundation for understanding male infertility and developing cancer drugs in the aspect of ubiquitination
