Donne custodi della Parola: Note sullo studio femminile della Torah in epoca contemporanea
In recent years, Israel has experienced an explosion of interest on the part of Modern Orthodox women in intense study of Talmud and Halakich texts, areas of male exclusivity for centuries. Since the institution of the first midrashah in 1976, both the number of women scholars and the quality of education has increased in a remarkable way and the greater erudition of women in both written and oral Torah is now a matter of fact. The debate on women’s right to study Torah originates from Talmud and it has been investigated from late antiquity until today. The texts define the roles of the Jewish women in the past and in the present within the realm of religious studies and raise the question what will be the effects of the women’s study of Torah on daily life and from a juridical perspective
Structural properties of the linkers connecting the n- and c- terminal domains in the mocr bacterial transcriptional regulators
Peptide inter-domain linkers are peptide segments covalently linking two adjacent domains within a protein. Linkers play a variety of structural and functional roles in naturally occurring proteins. In this work we analyze the sequence properties of the predicted linker regions of the bacterial transcriptional regulators belonging to the recently discovered MocR subfamily of the GntR regulators. Analyses were carried out on the MocR sequences taken from the phyla Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Alpha-, Beta- and Gammaproteobacteria. The results suggest that MocR linkers display phylum-specific characteristics and unique features different from those already described for other classes of inter-domain linkers. They show an average length significantly higher: 31.8 ± 14.3 residues reaching a maximum of about 150 residues. Compositional propensities displayed general and phylum-specific trends. Pro is dominating in all linkers. Dyad propensity analysis indicate Pro–Pro as the most frequent amino acid pair in all linkers. Physicochemical properties of the linker regions were assessed using amino acid indices relative to different features: in general, MocR linkers are flexible, hydrophilic and display propensity for β-turn or coil conformations. Linker sequences are hypervariable: only similarities between MocR linkers from organisms related at the level of species or genus could be found with sequence searches. The results shed light on the properties of the linker regions of the new MocR subfamily of bacterial regulators and may provide knowledge-based rules for designing artificial linkers with desired properties. © 2016 The Author(s
Free-living marine nematodes from San Antonio Bay (RÃo Negro, Argentina)
The dataset of free-living marine nematodes of San Antonio Bay is based on sediment samples collected in February 2009 during doctoral theses funded by CONICET grants. A total of 36 samples has been taken at three locations in the San Antonio Bay, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina on the coastal littoral at three tidal levels. This presents a unique and important collection for benthic biodiversity assessment of Patagonian nematodes as this area remains one of the least known regions. In total 7,743 specimens of free-living marine nematodes belonging to two classes, eight orders, 37 families, 94 genera and 104 species were collected.Fil: Villares, Maria Gabriela. Temperature evolution of the effective magnetic anisotropy in the MnCrO spinel
In this work we present a study of the low temperature magnetic phases of
polycrystalline MnCrO spinel through dc magnetization and ferromagnetic
resonance spectroscopy (FMR). Through these experiments we determined the main
characteristic temperatures: T 41 K and T 18 K
corresponding, respectively, to the ferrimagnetic order and to the low
temperature helicoidal transitions. The temperature evolution of the system is
described by a phenomenological approach that considers the different terms
that contribute to the free energy density. Below the Curie temperature the FMR
spectra were modeled by a cubic magnetocrystalline anisotropy to the second
order, with and anisotropy constants that define the easy
magnetization axis along the direction. At lower temperatures, the
formation of a helicoidal phase was considered by including uniaxial anisotropy
axis along the [1-10] propagation direction of the spiral arrange, with a
anisotropy constant. The values obtained from the fittings at 5 K are
=-2.3x10 erg/cm, =6.4x10 erg/cm and =7.5x10
erg/cm.Comment: 21 pages, 6 figure
Niveles de infección de helmintos de Rattus rattus (Rodentia: Muridae) en la ciudad de Corrientes, Argentina
The aim of this study was to describe the infection levels of helminths of Rattus rattus in Corrientes city, Corrientes Province, Argentina. In order to determine the role of rodents as potential reservoirs for zoonotic parasites, different indices of helminth infection were assessed with respect to sex, age, season and urban landscapes. A total of 107 individuals of R. rattus were examined. Seven species of helminths were found. The values of total prevalence, mean intensity and mean abundance were 68%, 20 and 13, respectively.
Nippostrongylus brasiliensis was the species more prevalent and abundant. The results showed that the age of the rodents and the season of capture had effects on the helminth infection.El objetivo del trabajo fue describir los niveles de infección de Rattus rattus en la ciudad de Corrientes, provincia de Corrientes, Argentina. The free-living marine nematodes of San Julián Bay dataset is based on sediment samples collected in January 2009 during the project PICT AGENCIA-FONCYT 2/33345-2005. A total of 36 samples have been taken at three locations in the San Julián Bay, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina on the coastal littoral at three tidal levels. This presents a unique and important collection for the nematode benthic biodiversity assessment as this area remains one of the least known regions in Patagonia. In total 10,030 specimens of free-living marine nematodes belonging to 2 classes, 9 orders, 35 families, 78 genera and 125 species were collected. The San Julián city site presented a very high species richness.Fil: Pastor, Catalina Teresa. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones CientÃficas y Técnicas. New bone formation using antibiotic-loaded calcium sulfate beads in bone transports for the treatment of long-bone osteomyelitis
Purpose Bone transport is one of the most frequently used techniques for critical-sized bone defects due to trauma or infection. To fill the defect area and avoid the collapse of soft tissues during transport, some authors have described the use of polymethylmethacrylate or absorbable antibiotic carriers in the form of cylindrical blocks. Methods In this article, we present our experience in the treatment of post-traumatic osteomyelitis of the lower and upper limbs, using a bone transport technique with antibiotic-loaded calcium sulfate in the form of beads. Results With the progressive absorption of calcium sulfate, we observed the formation of a bone-like tissue envelope at the periphery of the defect area. Histological analysis and direct visualization during open revision surgery of the docking site in all patients confirmed the presence of newly formed bone tissue with a high presence of osteoblasts and few osteoclasts; no areas of necrosis or signs of infection were observed. This bone envelope maintained the mechanical protective function of the transport path and docking site, and also provided a biological stimulus to avoid the development of necrotic areas and optimize the consolidation phase. ConclusionBone transport with calcium sulfate beads improves biological and mechanical support and reduces the number of surgeries required
