    El cómic funciona como hilo conductor temático del proyecto, empleando las nuevas tecnologías y la teoría crítica de manera instrumental. cuenta con una triple vertiente: formación de estudiantes, formación de docentes y futuros docentes, y transferencia de resultados. Esta triple vertiente se desarrolla a través de tres ejes: (1) Club de lectura de cómic autogestionado por estudiantes, bajo el título «Narrativas éticas para repensar el mundo»; (2) Talleres instrumentales, teoría crítica y empleabilidad para estudiantes del club y el resto de la comunidad universitaria y un encuentro con una autora; (3) Realización de contenidos en abierto —podcasts,— con los resultados del aprendizaje en los ejes (1) y (2)

    Clonal chromosomal mosaicism and loss of chromosome Y in elderly men increase vulnerability for SARS-CoV-2

    The pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19) had an estimated overall case fatality ratio of 1.38% (pre-vaccination), being 53% higher in males and increasing exponentially with age. Among 9578 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 in the SCOURGE study, we found 133 cases (1.42%) with detectable clonal mosaicism for chromosome alterations (mCA) and 226 males (5.08%) with acquired loss of chromosome Y (LOY). Individuals with clonal mosaic events (mCA and/or LOY) showed a 54% increase in the risk of COVID-19 lethality. LOY is associated with transcriptomic biomarkers of immune dysfunction, pro-coagulation activity and cardiovascular risk. Interferon-induced genes involved in the initial immune response to SARS-CoV-2 are also down-regulated in LOY. Thus, mCA and LOY underlie at least part of the sex-biased severity and mortality of COVID-19 in aging patients. Given its potential therapeutic and prognostic relevance, evaluation of clonal mosaicism should be implemented as biomarker of COVID-19 severity in elderly people.     This paper presents the study of a set of Punic gold items (400 B.C.), from the Museum of Cádiz (Spain). An external beam set-up has been employed for the absolutely non-destructive analysis of the objects. PIXE spectrometry has been performed in order to characterize the metallic alloys and the manufacturing techniques. Compositional differences have been found and soldering procedures have been identified. By comparison with the rings and other coetaneous jewellery, the presence of palladium in the bulk alloy of the earrings can be pointed out. The geographical provenance of the palladium-bearing gold is discussed based on geological and archaeological considerations

    Twelve years of experience with miglustat in the treatment of type 1 Gaucher disease: The Spanish ZAGAL project

    We report data from a prospective, observational study (ZAGAL) evaluating miglustat 100mg three times daily orally. in treatment-naïve patients and patients with type 1 Gaucher Disease (GD1) switched from previous enzyme replacement therapy (ERT). Clinical evolution, changes in organ size, blood counts, disease biomarkers, bone marrow infiltration (S-MRI), bone mineral density by broadband ultrasound densitometry (BMD), safety and tolerability annual reports were analysed. Between May 2004 and April 2016, 63 patients received miglustat therapy; 20 (32%) untreated and 43 (68%) switched. At the time of this report 39 patients (14 [36%] treatment-naïve; 25 [64%] switch) remain on miglustat. With over 12-year follow-up, hematologic counts, liver and spleen volumes remained stable. In total, 80% of patients achieved current GD1 therapeutic goals. Plasma chitotriosidase activity and CCL-18/PARC concentration showed a trend towards a slight increase. Reductions on S-MRI (p=0.042) with an increase in BMD (p<0.01) were registered. Gastrointestinal disturbances were reported in 25/63 (40%), causing miglustat suspension in 11/63 (17.5%) cases. Thirty-eight patients (60%) experienced a fine hand tremor and two a reversible peripheral neuropathy. Overall, miglustat was effective as a long-term therapy in mild to moderate naïve and ERT stabilized patients.
