Understanding Capital Structure has been a continuing concern, with a significant amount of research done, different models developed and various activity sectors extensively analyzed. However, there are not many studies with focus on the capital structure in the renewable energy sector and its relation to risk mitigation. This study's main purpose is to contribute to research on the capital structure in the renewable energy sector, especially in the case of PPPs, and to find whether these firms follow any of the classical capital structure theories and whether there is a relationship between their capital structure and risk mitigation, using as methodology the case study of a PPP wind power company funded through project finance and responsible for more than 20% of the energy produced in Cabo Verde, a small island developing state in Africa. In the case analyzed, our results can possibly suggest that (i) "pecking order" and "trade-off theories" partially explain the leverage and (ii) risk mitigation instruments in place, including the equity and financing partners involved, legal and contractual guaranties and regulatory framework, partially explain the leverage and significant share of participation of private investors.N/

Holistic processing (HP) of faces is usually measured by the composite effect. While Weston and Perfect [2005. Effects of processing bias on the recognition of composite face halves. Psychonomic Bulletin & Review, 12, 1038–1042. doi:10.3758/BF03206440] found that priming at the local level speeded recognition of components of faces, Gao et al. [2011. Priming global and local processing of composite faces: Revisiting the processing-bias effect on face perception. Attention Perception & Psychophysics, 73, 1477–1486. doi:10.3758/s13414-011-0109-7] found that only global priming had an effect on HP of faces. The two studies used different versions of the composite task (the partial design, which is considered to be prone on bias, and the complete design). However, the two studies also differed in other respects and it is difficult to know to what extent issues with the partial design contributed to the differing conclusions. In the present study, the HP indexed by the complete design measure was augmented by global priming. In contrast, no effect was observed in the partial design index. We claim that the partial design index reflects other factors besides HP, including response bias, and conclude that HP can be understood within the context of domain-general attentional processes

The project under the name intiplaza shows its viability through a website developed to connect small businesses of the clothing and accessories industry and customers male and female of the upper-middle economic class and middle economic class. On one hand, due to the pandemic covid19, many people decided to start up their new business as a source of extra income and overcome the economic crisis of the country. On the other hand, due to the current situation and casual work many people have opted to shop online since it's fast, safe, easy and efficient. For the development of this project, many evaluations have been done and a deep analysis of the factors have helped to determine the viability of intiplaza as a business. Among them, we have the requirements of both customer groups, the intention of purchase, marketing strategies and advertising and last but not least, budgeting and an estimated investment plan.Trabajo de investigació

Hemispheric asymmetry in holistic processing of words

    Get PDF
Holistic processing has been regarded as a hallmark of face perception, indicating the automatic and obligatory tendency of the visual system to process all face parts as a perceptual unit rather than in isolation. Studies involving lateralized stimulus presentation suggest that the right hemisphere dominates holistic face processing. Holistic processing can also be shown with other categories such as words and thus it is not specific to faces or face-like expertize. Here, we used divided visual field presentation to investigate the possibly different contributions of the two hemispheres for holistic word processing. Observers performed same/different judgment on the cued parts of two sequentially presented words in the complete composite paradigm. Our data indicate a right hemisphere specialization for holistic word processing. Thus, these markers of expert object recognition are domain general

Measurements of Higgs boson production and couplings in diboson final states with the ATLAS detector at the LHC

    Get PDF
Measurements are presented of production properties and couplings of the recently discovered Higgs boson using the decays into boson pairs, HγγH\rightarrow\gamma\gamma, HZZ4H\rightarrow ZZ^{*}\rightarrow 4 \ell and HWWννH\rightarrow W W \rightarrow \ell\nu\ell\nu. The results are based on the complete pp collision data sample recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider at centre-of-mass energies of 7 TeV and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 25 fb1^{-1}. Evidence for Higgs boson production through vector-boson fusion is reported. Results of combined fits probing Higgs boson couplings to fermions and bosons, as well as anomalous contributions to loop-induced production and decay modes, are presented. All measurements are consistent with expectations for the Standard Model Higgs boson.Peer Reviewe

Search for the standard model Higgs boson produced in association with top quarks and decaying into a bbˉb\bar{b} pair in pppp collisions at s\sqrt{s} = 13  TeV with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
A search for the standard model Higgs boson produced in association with a top-quark pair, tt¯H, is presented. The analysis uses 36.1  fb-1 of pp collision data at s=13  TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2015 and 2016. The search targets the H→bb¯ decay mode. The selected events contain either one or two electrons or muons from the top-quark decays, and are then categorized according to the number of jets and how likely these are to contain b-hadrons. Multivariate techniques are used to discriminate between signal and background events, the latter being dominated by tt¯+jets production. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, the ratio of the measured tt¯H signal cross-section to the standard model expectation is found to be μ=0.84-0.61+0.64. A value of μ greater than 2.0 is excluded at 95% confidence level (C.L.) while the expected upper limit is μ<1.2 in the absence of a tt¯H signal.Peer Reviewe

Observation of Higgs boson production in association with a top quark pair at the LHC with the ATLAS detector

    Get PDF
The observation of Higgs boson production in association with a top quark pair ( tt¯H ), based on the analysis of proton–proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider, is presented. Using data corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 79.8 fb −1 , and considering Higgs boson decays into bb¯ , WW⁎ , τ+τ− , γγ , and ZZ⁎ , the observed significance is 5.8 standard deviations, compared to an expectation of 4.9 standard deviations. Combined with the tt¯H searches using a dataset corresponding to integrated luminosities of 4.5 fb −1 at 7 TeV and 20.3 fb −1 at 8 TeV, the observed (expected) significance is 6.3 (5.1) standard deviations. Assuming Standard Model branching fractions, the total tt¯H production cross section at 13 TeV is measured to be 670 ± 90 (stat.) −100+110 (syst.) fb, in agreement with the Standard Model prediction.Peer Reviewe

Performance of the ATLAS Track Reconstruction Algorithms in Dense Environments in LHC Run 2

    Get PDF
With the increase in energy of the Large Hadron Collider to a centre-of-mass energy of 13  TeV\text {TeV} for Run 2, events with dense environments, such as in the cores of high-energy jets, became a focus for new physics searches as well as measurements of the Standard Model. These environments are characterized by charged-particle separations of the order of the tracking detectors sensor granularity. Basic track quantities are compared between 3.2 fb1^{-1} of data collected by the ATLAS experiment and simulation of proton–proton collisions producing high-transverse-momentum jets at a centre-of-mass energy of 13  TeV\text {TeV} . The impact of charged-particle separations and multiplicities on the track reconstruction performance is discussed. The track reconstruction efficiency in the cores of jets with transverse momenta between 200 and 1600 GeV\text {GeV} is quantified using a novel, data-driven, method. The method uses the energy loss,  dE/dx{\text { d}}{} \textit{E}/d\textit{x} , to identify pixel clusters originating from two charged particles. Of the charged particles creating these clusters, the measured fraction that fail to be reconstructed is 0.061±0.006 (stat.)±0.014 (syst.)0.061 \pm 0.006\ {\text {(stat.)}} \pm 0.014\ {\text {(syst.)}} and 0.093±0.017 (stat.)±0.021 (syst.)0.093 \pm 0.017\ {\text {(stat.)}}\pm 0.021\ {\text {(syst.)}} for jet transverse momenta of 200–400  GeV\text {GeV} and 1400–1600  GeV\text {GeV} , respectively.Peer Reviewe
