Rates and times of two chlormequat formulations on wheat. B. Chlormequat for yield increase in lupins C. Seed treatments and foliar sprays for enhancement of growth and yield enhancement of wheat D. rates\u27 and times of kelpack on wheat The following summary covers the 1983 trials on several growth regulators and growth promotants as seed treatments and foliar sprays on wheat and lupins. The 1983 field programme can be subdivided into four trial types: The effects of various rates and times of application of two chlormequat formulations(cycocel and bettaquat) on wheat yield. Seed treatments and foliar sprays for enhancement of growth and yield in wheat. The products tested as seed treatments or foliar sprays include: The fish emulsions eco and reef crop booster, The chlormequats, cycocel and bettaquat The seaweed extracts, kelpak 66 and seasol(in liquid and powder) The bacterial culture, cytozyme and the nutrient mix, complesal. 3. Chlormequat(podmore) for yield increase in lupins. 4. Rates and times of kelpak on wheat. The summary gives a brief account of the results, then the individual trial details and results follow.these are grouped within each of the topics and ordered alphabetically within each grouping
Water use of wheatbelt crop and pasture species
Water use of wheatbelt crop and pasture species Location: 83WH29 - Wongan Hills Research Station, Wongan Hills Abstract. A comprehensive experiment to investigate the productivity and water use of important wheatbelt crop and pasture species was undertaken in 1983. The experiment has provided important information on potential crop and pasture productivity and the role of alternate crop and pasture species in managing groundwater recharge and the development of secondary salinity. Contents 1. Background and industry significance 2. Aims of the experiment 3. Personnel 4. Site characterisation 5. Experimental detail 6. Results i) Meterological data ii) Dry matter, leaf area and grain yield iii) Soil Water iv) Root growth and water extraction v) Infra-red Thermometr

Motherhood, Moral Authority and the Charismatic Matriarch in the Aftermath of Lethal Violence
Images of maternal suffering are an evocative and powerful means of communication in a world where the private grief of victims has increasingly become subject to commodification and public consumption. This article looks at the influence of bereaved mothers as symbols of respect, peace and dignity in the aftermath of violence, and as a result their persuasive presence in family activism. Drawing upon two case studies, this article explores the importance of victimsâ stories in public life and, in particular, the presence of the charismatic matriarch in creating communities of solidarity, raising awareness of harms that have previously gone unheard and prompting policy change. It considers the âcanonicalâ story of the mother in public life and concludes by arguing that more attention should be paid to victimsâ stories and their influence on policy-making, politics and eventually in becoming public grievances
Deletion of astroglial CXCL10 delays clinical onset but does not affect progressive axon loss in a murine autoimmune multiple sclerosis model.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterized by central nervous system (CNS) inflammation, demyelination, and axonal degeneration. CXCL10 (IP-10), a chemokine for CXCR3+ T cells, is known to regulate T cell differentiation and migration in the periphery, but effects of CXCL10 produced endogenously in the CNS on immune cell trafficking are unknown. We created floxed cxcl10 mice and crossed them with mice carrying an astrocyte-specific Cre transgene (mGFAPcre) to ablate astroglial CXCL10 synthesis. These mice, and littermate controls, were immunized with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein peptide 35-55 (MOG peptide) to induce experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). In comparison to the control mice, spinal cord CXCL10 mRNA and protein were sharply diminished in the mGFAPcre/CXCL10fl/fl EAE mice, confirming that astroglia are chiefly responsible for EAE-induced CNS CXCL10 synthesis. Astroglial CXCL10 deletion did not significantly alter the overall composition of CD4+ lymphocytes and CD11b+ cells in the acutely inflamed CNS, but did diminish accumulation of CD4+ lymphocytes in the spinal cord perivascular spaces. Furthermore, IBA1+ microglia/macrophage accumulation within the lesions was not affected by CXCL10 deletion. Clinical deficits were milder and acute demyelination was substantially reduced in the astroglial CXCL10-deleted EAE mice, but long-term axon loss was equally severe in the two groups. We concluded that astroglial CXCL10 enhances spinal cord perivascular CD4+ lymphocyte accumulation and acute spinal cord demyelination in MOG peptide EAE, but does not play an important role in progressive axon loss in this MS model

Psychometric properties of the adolescents' interpretation and belief questionnaire (AIBQ) for measuring interpretation bias in Chinese adolescents
The cognitive model of social anxiety disorder hypothesized that socially anxious individuals tend to negatively interpret ambiguous scenarios, which was termed an Interpretation bias (IB). The Adolescents' Interpretation Bias Questionnaire (AIBQ) is a widely used self-report instrument to measure IB towards social situations for adolescents. The main objective of the current study was to culturally revise AIBQ in Chinese adolescents. In total, 960 adolescents participated, and four weeks later, 185 of them were re-measured with Chinese version of AIBQ (C-AIBQ). We tested construct validity, examined internal consistency and test-retest reliability, and assessed convergent and divergent validity of the C-AIBQ subscales. Overall, C-AIBQ variables showed satisfactory construct validity, internal consistency, test-retest reliability and convergent and discriminant validity, in particular the social negative interpretation subscale. Our results indicate that this instrument is adequate to measure interpretation bias in Chinese adolescents.Pathways through Adolescenc
A review of clinical decision-making: Models and current research
Aims and objectives: The aim of this paper was to review the current literature with respect to clinical decision-making models and the educational application of models to clinical practice. This was achieved by exploring the function and related research of the three available models of clinical decision making: information processing model, the intuitive-humanist model and the clinical decision making model.
Background: Clinical decision-making is a unique process that involves the interplay between knowledge of pre-existing pathological conditions, explicit patient information, nursing care and experiential learning. Historically, two models of clinical decision making are recognised from the literature; the information processing model and the intuitive-humanist model. The usefulness and application of both models has been examined in relation the provision of nursing care and care related outcomes. More recently a third model of clinical decision making has been proposed. This new multidimensional model contains elements of the information processing model but also examines patient specific elements that are necessary for cue and pattern recognition.
