Gefängnisfilm

Der Gefängnisfilm bildete sich als Subgenre des klassischen Gangsterfilms parallel zu dessen Entstehung zu Beginn der 1930er Jahre heraus. Die Haftanstalt nimmt in diesem Genre eine ebenso mythische wie notwendige Position ein, da der Gefängnisaufenthalt entweder das Ende einer Gangsterkarriere bedeutet oder eine Fortsetzung dieser Funktion unter veränderten Voraussetzungen. „Gefängnis und Gangster-Existenz bedingen einander so sehr, daß das eine ohne das andere kaum vorstellbar erscheint“, wie es in Kellners Gangsterfilm (1977) heißt. Der Gefängnisfilm ist letztlich ein Gangsterfilm, der seinen Haupthandlungsschauplatz in die Haftanstalt verlegt hat und dort entweder von der Läuterung des Gangsters, von dem Schicksal eines zu Unrecht Verurteilten oder einem Gefängnisaufstand erzählt

Now in its 13th year, PISA is known around the world as an instrument to rank OECD and non-OECD countries (60+ at last count) according to a measure of academic achievement of 15 year old students in mathematics, science, and reading. Administered every three years, PISA results are anxiously awaited by governments, education ministers, and the editorial boards of newspapers, and are cited authoritatively in countless policy reports. They have begun to deeply influence educational practices in many countries. As a result of PISA, countries are overhauling their education systems in the hopes of improving their rankings. Lack of progress on PISA has led to declarations of crisis and “PISA shock” in many countries, followed by calls for resignations, and far-reaching reforms according to PISA precepts

Diese Literaturauswertung wurde vom DIE im Auftrag des BMBF im Zeitraum September 2003 bis Juli 2004 im Zusammenhang mit der BLK-Veröffentlichung „Strategie für Lebenslanges Lernen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland“ (http://www.blk-bonn.de/papers/heft115.pdf) der BLK Ad-hoc-AG vorgenommen. Sie stellt Literatur zum Lernen in unterschiedlichen Lebensphasen (Kinder, Jugendliche, junge Erwachsene, Erwachsene und Ältere) und zu Entwicklungsschwerpunkten lebenslangen Lernens (Einbeziehung informellen Lernens, Selbststeuerung, Kompetenzentwicklung, Vernetzung, Modularisierung, Lernberatung, Neue Lernkultur/Popularisierung des Lernens und chancengerechter Zugang) zusammen. Ergänzt wird die Darstellung durch Informationen zur Entwicklung lebenslangen Lernens im bildungspolitischen und erziehungswissenschaftlichen Diskurs und durch die Dokumentation bildungspolitischer Dokumente des Europarats, der OECD, der UNESCO, der Europäischen Union und der Weltbank. Viscous hydrodynamics with bulk viscosity -- uncertainties from relaxation time and initial conditions

Bulk viscosity suppresses elliptic flow v_2, as does shear viscosity. It can thus not be neglected when extracting the shear viscosity from elliptic flow data. Snell's law for surface electrons: Refraction of an electron gas imaged in real space

On NaCl(100)/Cu(111) an interface state band is observed that descends from the surface-state band of the clean copper surface. This band exhibits a Moire-pattern-induced one-dimensional band gap, which is accompanied by strong standing-wave patterns, as revealed in low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy images. At NaCl island step edges, one can directly see the refraction of these standing waves, which obey Snell's refraction law.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Site determination and thermally assisted tunneling in homogenous nucleation

A combined low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and density functional theory study on the binding and diffusion of copper monomers, dimers, and trimers adsorbed on Cu(111) is presented. Whereas atoms in trimers are found in fcc sites only, monomers as well as atoms in dimers can occupy the stable fcc as well as the metastable hcp site. In fact the dimer fcc-hcp configuration was found to be only 1.3 meV less favorable with respect to the fcc-fcc configuration. This enables a confined intra-cell dimer motion, which at temperatures below 5 K is dominated by thermally assisted tunneling.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
