Newmark method for numerical realization of initial problems of the 2nd order
Newmark method is used for numerical realization of initial value problems for differential equations of the second order. Its benefits include possibility to affect some numerical properties (e. g. stability or order of convergency) by a suitable choice of two real parameters. In this thesis we will derive Newmark scheme for one ordinary differential equation of the second order, we will discuss the stability and order of convergence. Next we will verify theoretical results by numerical experiments. At the end of the thesis we will show how to use Newmark method for solving a system of differential equations.Prezenční457 - Katedra aplikované matematikyvýborn

Semi-analytic integration for a parallel space-time boundary element method modelling the heat equation
The presented paper concentrates on the boundary element method (BEM) for the heat equation in three spatial dimensions. In particular, we deal with tensor product space-time meshes allowing for quadrature schemes analytic in time and numerical in space. The spatial integrals can be treated by standard BEM techniques known from three dimensional stationary problems. The contribution of the paper is twofold. First, we provide temporal antiderivatives of the heat kernel necessary for the assembly of BEM matrices and the evaluation of the representation formula. Secondly, the presented approach has been implemented in a publicly available library besthea allowing researchers to reuse the formulae and BEM routines straightaway. The results are validated by numerical experiments in an HPC environment.Web of Science10317015
Paralelní metody hraničních prvků v prostoru a času
Import 02/11/2016Efficient parallel implementation of the boundary element method is crucial for its applicability to the solution of real world engineering problems. Several approaches to the parallelization of BEM are presented in this thesis, including in-core vectorization using SIMD instruction set extensions, a novel distributed fast boundary element method based on the cyclic graph decompositions, and parallel space-time Galerkin boundary element method for the time dependent wave equation utilizing smooth temporal basis functions. In the thesis we provide a brief introduction to the boundary element method in both space and time, describe our in-house boundary element environment, in which most of the methods are implemented, and provide a commentary to author's published papers in the field.

Import 04/07/2011This thesis deals with methods for the numerical solution of dynamic contact problems with friction. We present the strong and weak form of the problem, use the finite element method for its spatial discretization and then discuss various methods of the temporal discretization. Then we describe the method of mass redistribution for a stabilization of temporal schemes. Finally the theoretical results are confirmed by several numerical experiments.V této práci se zabýváme metodami numerického řešení dynamických kontaktních úloh se třením. Popisujeme silnou a slabou formulaci problému, následně použijeme metodu konečných prvků pro jeho prostorovou diskretizaci. Dále se zabýváme několika způsoby časové diskretizace problému. Ke stabilizaci vzniklých schémat používáme metodu redistribuce hmotnosti. Teoretické výsledky jsou ověřeny několika numerickými experimenty.457 - Katedra aplikované matematikyvýborn
Distributed solution of the Helmholtz transmission problems via relaxed local multi-trace formulation and adaptive cross approximation
We present a parallel solver for the Helmholtz transmission problems based on the relaxed local multi-trace formulation and parallel adaptive cross approximation methods. We start off by describing the relaxed local multi-trace formulation and follow with a workload distribution scheme used to assemble all the underlying matrices in parallel via MPI. Finally, we provide results of numerical experiments related to strong scalability and the number of iterations of the GMRES iterative method.Web of Science398art. no. 11364
A parallel fast multipole method for a space-time boundary element method for the heat equation
We present a novel approach to the parallelization of the parabolic fast
multipole method for a space-time boundary element method for the heat
equation. We exploit the special temporal structure of the involved operators
to provide an efficient distributed parallelization with respect to time and
with a one-directional communication pattern. On top, we apply a task-based
shared memory parallelization and SIMD vectorization. In the numerical tests we
observe high efficiencies of our parallelization approach
