Planar graphs without normally adjacent short cycles
Let be the class of plane graphs without triangles normally
adjacent to -cycles, without -cycles normally adjacent to
-cycles, and without normally adjacent -cycles. In this paper, it is
showed that every graph in is -choosable. Instead of proving
this result, we directly prove a stronger result in the form of "weakly"
DP--coloring. The main theorem improves the results in [J. Combin. Theory
Ser. B 129 (2018) 38--54; European J. Combin. 82 (2019) 102995]. Consequently,
every planar graph without -, -, -cycles is -choosable, and every
planar graph without -, -, -, -cycles is -choosable. In the
third section, it is proved that the vertex set of every graph in
can be partitioned into an independent set and a set that induces a forest,
which strengthens the result in [Discrete Appl. Math. 284 (2020) 626--630]. In

Not performing an OGTT results in underdiagnosis, inadequate risk assessment and probable cost increases of (pre)diabetes in Han Chinese over 40 years: a population-based prospective cohort study
Objective: To explore the influence by not performing an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) in Han Chinese over 40 years.
Design: Overall, 6682 participants were included in the prospective cohort study and were followed up for 3 years.
Methods: Fasting plasma glucose (FPG), 2-h post-load plasma glucose (2h-PG), FPG and 2h-PG (OGTT), and HbA1c testing using World Health Organization (WHO) or American Diabetes Association (ADA) criteria were employed for strategy analysis.
Results: The prevalence of diabetes is 12.4% (95% CI: 11.6–13.3), while the prevalence of prediabetes is 34.1% (95% CI: 32.9–35.3) and 56.5% (95% CI: 55.2–57.8) using WHO and ADA criteria, respectively. 2h-PG determined more diabetes individuals than FPG and HbA1c. The testing cost per true positive case of OGTT is close to FPG and less than 2h-PG or HbA1c. FPG, 2h-PG and HbA1c strategies would increase costs from complications for false-positive (FP) or false-negative (FN) results compared with OGTT. Moreover, the least individuals identified as normal by OGTT at baseline developed (pre)diabetes, and the most prediabetes individuals identified by HbA1c or FPG using ADA criteria developed diabetes.
Conclusions: The prevalence of isolated impaired glucose tolerance and isolated 2-h post-load diabetes were high, and the majority of individuals with (pre)diabetes were undetected in Chinese Han population. Not performing an OGTT results in underdiagnosis, inadequate developing risk assessment and probable cost increases of (pre)diabetes in Han Chinese over 40 years and great consideration should be given to OGTT in detecting (pre)diabetes in this population. Further population-based prospective cohort study of longer-term effects is necessary to investigate the risk assessment and cost of (pre)diabetes
Genome-wide identification and analysis of heterotic loci in three maize hybrids
Heterosis, or hybrid vigour, is a predominant phenomenon in plant genetics, serving as the basis of crop hybrid breeding, but the causative loci and genes underlying heterosis remain unclear in many crops. Here, we present a large-scale genetic analysis using 5360 offsprings from three elite maize hybrids, which identifies 628 loci underlying 19 yield-related traits with relatively high mapping resolutions. Heterotic pattern investigations of the 628 loci show that numerous loci, mostly with complete–incomplete dominance (the major one) or overdominance effects (the secondary one) for heterozygous genotypes and nearly equal proportion of advantageous alleles from both parental lines, are the major causes of strong heterosis in these hybrids. Follow-up studies for 17 heterotic loci in an independent experiment using 2225 F2 individuals suggest most heterotic effects are roughly stable between environments with a small variation. Candidate gene analysis for one major heterotic locus (ub3) in maize implies that there may exist some common genes contributing to crop heterosis. These results provide a community resource for genetics studies in maize and new implications for heterosis in plants
Study on pathological and clinical characteristics of chronic HBV infected patients with HBsAg positive, HBV DNA negative, HBeAg negative
AimsStudy of clinical characteristics of hepatitis B virus deoxyribonucleic acid (HBV DNA)-negative, hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive, hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-negative patients based on liver histopathology.MethodsWe retrospectively enrolled patients with chronic HBV infection diagnosis at Beijing Ditan Hospital from May 2008 to November 2020. To study the differences between patients with significant hepatic histopathology and those without significant hepatic histopathology. And to study the independent factors of significant hepatic histopathology.Results85 HBV DNA-negative and HBeAg-negative patients were 37.90 ± 10.30 years old, 23.50% of patients with grade of inflammation (G) >1, 35.30% of patients with liver fibrosis stage (S) >1, 44.70% patients were diagnosed with significant hepatic histopathology. Compared to the no significant hepatic histopathology group, another group had older age (41.70 ± 10.70 vs 34.80 ± 8.87 years, t=-3.28, P=0.002), higher total bilirubin (TBIL) [14.9(10.3, 22.4) vs 11(8.9, 14.4) μmol/L, z=-2.26, P=0.024], lower cholinesterase (CHE) (t=-2.86, P=0.005, 7388.00 ± 2156.00 vs 8988.00 ± 2823.00 U/L) and lower platelet (PLT) (t=2.75, P=0.007, 157.00 ± 61.40 vs 194.00 ± 61.00 10^9/L). Abnormal ALT patients are more likely to have significant hepatic histopathology (z=5.44, P=0.020, 66.70% vs 337.50%). G had significant correlation with CHE (P=0.008, r=-0.23), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (P=0.041, r=0.18), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) (P=0.001, r=0.29). S had significant correlation with TBIL (P = 0.008, r = 0.23), age (P < 0.001, r = 0.32), international normalized ratio (INR) (P = 0.04, r = 0.23), CHE (P < 0.001, r = -0.30), PLT (P < 0.001, r = -0.40) and prothrombin time activity (PTA) (P = 0.046, r = -0.22). Multivariate logistic analysis indicated only age (95%CI=1.014~1.130, OR=1.069, P=0.013) was an impact factor for significant hepatic histopathology. The cutoff point of age was 34.30 years.ConclusionsA large proportion of chronic HBV infection patients with HBeAg-negative and HBV DNA-negative still have chronic hepatitis. Genomic monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 uncovers an Nsp1 deletion variant that modulates type I interferon response
The SARS-CoV-2 virus, the causative agent of COVID-19, is undergoing constant mutation. Here, we utilized an integrative approach combining epidemiology, virus genome sequencing, clinical phenotyping, and experimental validation to locate mutations of clinical importance. We identified 35 recurrent variants, some of which are associated with clinical phenotypes related to severity. One variant, containing a deletion in the Nsp1-coding region (D500-532), was found in more than 20% of our sequenced samples and associates with higher RT-PCR cycle thresholds and lower serum IFN-beta levels of infected patients. Deletion variants in this locus were found in 37 countries worldwide, and viruses isolated from clinical samples or engineered by reverse genetics with related deletions in Nsp1 also induce lower IFN-beta responses in infected Calu-3 cells. Taken together, our virologic surveillance characterizes recurrent genetic diversity and identified mutations in Nsp1 of biological and clinical importance, which collectively may aid molecular diagnostics and drug design.Peer reviewe
Detecting Neutrinos from Supernova Bursts in PandaX-4T
Neutrinos from core-collapse supernovae are essential for the understanding
of neutrino physics and stellar evolution. The dual-phase xenon dark matter
detectors can provide a way to track explosions of galactic supernovae by
detecting neutrinos through coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scatterings. In
this study, a variation of progenitor masses as well as explosion models are
assumed to predict the neutrino fluxes and spectra, which result in the number
of expected neutrino events ranging from 6.6 to 13.7 at a distance of 10 kpc
over a 10-second duration with negligible backgrounds at PandaX-4T. Two
specialized triggering alarms for monitoring supernova burst neutrinos are
built. The efficiency of detecting supernova explosions at various distances in
the Milky Way is estimated. These alarms will be implemented in the real-time
supernova monitoring system at PandaX-4T in the near future, providing the
astronomical communities with supernova early warnings.Comment: 9 pages,6 figure
Search for light dark matter from atmosphere in PandaX-4T
We report a search for light dark matter produced through the cascading decay
of mesons, which are created as a result of inelastic collisions between
cosmic rays and Earth's atmosphere. We introduce a new and general framework,
publicly accessible, designed to address boosted dark matter specifically, with
which a full and dedicated simulation including both elastic and quasi-elastic
processes of Earth attenuation effect on the dark matter particles arriving at
the detector is performed. In the PandaX-4T commissioning data of 0.63
tonneyear exposure, no significant excess over background is observed.
The first constraints on the interaction between light dark matter generated in
the atmosphere and nucleus through a light scalar mediator are obtained. The

A Search for Light Fermionic Dark Matter Absorption on Electrons in PandaX-4T
We report a search on a sub-MeV fermionic dark matter absorbed by electrons
with an outgoing active neutrino using the 0.63 tonne-year exposure collected
by PandaX-4T liquid xenon experiment. No significant signals are observed over
the expected background. The data are interpreted into limits to the effective
couplings between such dark matter and electrons. For axial-vector or vector
interactions, our sensitivity is competitive in comparison to existing
astrophysical bounds on the decay of such dark matter into photon final states.
In particular, we present the first direct detection limits for an axial-vector
(vector) interaction which are the strongest in the mass range from 25 to 45
(35 to 50) keV/c
