La toxicologie : la multidisciplinarité au service de la sécurité sanitaire et environnementale

International audienceToxicology: a multidisciplinary approach for improving health and environmental safety Toxicology provides the scientific bases to understand and evaluate risks. Complementary physical, chemical and biological data have to be gathered to establish that transversal analysis which helps to elaborate the appropriate technical and legal measures for protecting public health and environment. Thus, risk awareness, public confidence or fear largely depend on the toxicologist expertise. By helping to determine the risk/benefit ratio of new technologies, toxicology has also become a growing challenge for economy and competitiveness. If the renewed interest for toxicology is a reason for feeling satisfied, we nevertheless have to keep in mind that this is its ability to cross other scientific fields which makes its strength and interest. Thus, multidisciplinarity represents a real asset for its future

OntoToxNuc : exploitation d’une ontologie de la toxicologie nucléaire environnementale dans une plateforme collaborative

International audienceCet article présente certains résultats obtenus dans le cadre du programme ToxNuc, initié par la direction des sciences du vivant du CEA, et qui fédère un ensemble d’acteurs français du domaine de la toxicologie nucléaire environnementale. Dans le cadre de ce projet, et pour répondre à un besoin d’unification d’un vocabulaire commun à plusieurs spécialités (e.g. biologie, chimie, physique, médecine) une ontologie a été créée (http://bioportal.bioontology.org/ontologies/ONTOTOXNUC). Elle fera l’objet de la première partie de cet article. Nous y verrons de sa genèse à sa formalisation les différentes étapes de sa conception. Dans une deuxième partie, nous présenterons l’utilisation de cette ontologie comme support à la stratégie de recherche d’information sémantique adoptée dans les plateformes collaboratives du programme ToxNuc. A cette fin, OntoToxNuc a été utilisée comme support à une indexation conceptuelle de documents rédigés en français et en anglais, ce qui par la suite permet son exploitation par une version adaptée du moteur de recherche d’information conceptuelle OBIRS (Ontology Based Information Retrieval System)
