The Work of the Clergy and the Religious Persecution in Mexico

Opening paragraphs: Perhaps the principal argument employed by the reactionary party of Mexico before the government and in the press of the United States to attack and lower the prestige of the Constitutionalist Revolution, is the one which relates to the religious question. Constitutionalism, especially since the rupture between the Convention party and Mr. Carranza -- has been presented by its enemies before the American people, as an implacable, and systematic persecutor of religion in all its forms and manifestations; as the vandalic destroyer of temples and images; as the insatiable and cruel executioner of timid and innocent priests; in one word, as an atheist and implanter and propagator of atheism in Mexico. They have even tried to demonstrate that this and several other dissolvent theories constitute the fundamental basis and the reason for existence of the constitutionalist policy, at least in that part which refers to the internal government of the Republic.https://digicom.bpl.lib.me.us/books_pubs/1103/thumbnail.jp

Get PDF
Prostate cancer is one of the most prevalent in the world and affects many men. There are screening methods which are dedicated to carrying out earlier detection and thus reducing mortality, over the years an attempt has been made to create new screening methods, but the most prevalent and functional ones continue to be the digital rectal examination and the prostate specific antigen. Although of course all have their disadvantages, and this is what has been tried to improve. In many cases, the patient does not present symptoms until it is very late, so it is important to recognize them in time. There are different treatment methods that depend on whether we have localized cancer or already metastasized

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it a series of effects in different social sectors, both economic, social and, of course, health. However, health personnel have been psychologically affected after constant exposure to this disease, long working hours and the physical and mental deterioration that fighting in the first line of defense entails. Among the factors that contribute to the development of anxiety disorders, depression, insomnia, among others, are the age factor, the social context and interpersonal relationships, the lack of training, the level of exposure to infected patients, among others. All these factors and their repercussions on the health of health workers are a problem that should not go unnoticed, this by virtue of safeguarding the well-being of those who are in the first line of defense against COVID-19.La pandemia por la COVID-19 ha traído consigo una serie de afectaciones en diferentes sectores sociales, tanto económicos, sociales y evidentemente, de salud.

Intracranial hypertension syndrome (IHS) is characterized by increased of intracranial pressure (ICP) above normal limits, which leads to various signs and symptoms suffered by the patient, which, if it is not diagnosed early, can lead to a fatal outcome leading to coma and death. ICP is determined by cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure, blood flow, and brain parenchyma. Its etiology is varied, and it can be acute or chronic, which determines the various clinical manifestations. The clinical manifestations occur in several stages, commonly producing headache, vomiting, papilledema, and focal neurological signs. The objective is to publicize the neuroanatomy that is involved, in order to make an early diagnosis and prevent irreversible pathologies, likewise it is of utmost importance to understand the reason for the clinical manifestations by knowing the affected structures and thus being able to carry out an adequate approach.

This article addresses the most up-to-date literature on infection by Taenia solium cysticerci that invade the central nervous system. It begins briefly with the life cycle of the parasite and how both pigs and humans acquire it. It addresses epidemiological data based on the most up-to-date studies not only of larger populations, but also of those areas in which the disease is considered endemic and that therefore have more experience in the management of the disease. An extensive explanation of the clinical presentation in the different areas most affected within the CNS is provided; How to reach the diagnosis is developed in detail, from the most classic to the most up-to-date, not only clinical diagnosis is mentioned, but also through images and laboratories. At the end of the article, treatment recommendations are provided in those settings in which the patient is eligible to be treated and it closes with conclusions so that the reader can summarize the key points

Síndromes post gastrectomía: Clínica, Diagnóstico y Tratamiento.

    Get PDF
Post-gastrectomy syndromes are described as late postoperative complications, where one of the most common cause is bariatric surgery, as it is currently a common procedure. Gastric surgery modifies gastric anatomy and physiology and this affects the development of these entities. Dumping syndrome and alkaline reflux gastritis are described as the most common, while the development of afferent loop syndrome is not as common today. Dumping syndrome is also called gastric emptying syndrome, the symptoms that present are divided into early ones that are gastrointestinal and vasomotor, and late ones where the development of late hypoglycemia in response to hyperinsulinism stands out. On the other hand, we have the afferent loop syndrome, which is a merely mechanical process due to an excessively long afferent loop, where the symptoms reported by these patients are postprandial abdominal pain, cramps and non-food vomiting that completely relieve pain. And alkaline reflux gastritis is due to chronic exposure of the gastric remnant to bilious and pancreatic substances that induce burning postprandial abdominal pain, associated with nausea and bile vomiting without food content that partially relieves abdominal pain. The identification of these syndromes is important since they deteriorate the quality of life of patients and require proper management by physicians.

Mobile Personal Health Monitoring for Automated Classification of Electrocardiogram Signals in Elderly

    Get PDF
Mobile electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring is an emerging area that has received increasing attention in recent years, but still real-life validation for elderly residing in low and middle-income countries is scarce. We developed a wearable ECG monitor that is integrated with a self-designed wireless sensor for ECG signal acquisition. It is used with a native purposely designed smartphone application, based on machine learning techniques, for automated classification of captured ECG beats from aged people. When tested on 100 older adults, the monitoring system discriminated normal and abnormal ECG signals with a high degree of accuracy (97%), sensitivity (100%), and specificity (96.6%). With further verification, the system could be useful for detecting cardiac abnormalities in the home environment and contribute to prevention, early diagnosis, and effective treatment of cardiovascular diseases, while keeping costs down and increasing access to healthcare services for older persons
